Speaker 1 (00:10):
I heard podcasts here more mix one or two point
three podcasts, playlists and listen live on the free iHeart app.
It's a lot of people waking up this morning. You'll
let it feel a little bit sorry for themselves. A
lot of Crows fans, in particular Adelaide losing the first
qualifying final last night four goals to the Pies, just
overrunning the second half, really third quarter in particular Collingwood

(00:31):
well on top. But as is always the way with
these games, major talking point coming out of it, probably
to do.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
With the controversial stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Yeah, the booing.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Isaac Quaana was booed every single time he touched the football,
and then Dawson pros it on the boat outside fifty
Quinn oiled be re entered. Isaac Quana was, of course,
the player that Isaac Rankin from the Crows directed the
homophobic slur to a couple of weeks ago, and that

(01:02):
was deemed by a portion of the Crow's audience, allowed
portion of the Crow's audience to be worthy of booing.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Which is not all right, right, this is disgusting, This
is shameful behavior, This is embarrassing. As a Crows fan,
I'm not a Crows fan. I say that I'm a fan,
I'm not a fan. I'm just a human. And I
saw what happened last night. I'm like, what are you doing?
Why are you undoing all the good work that we've
just done the last couple of weeks. You're embarrassing us
in front of the rest of the country.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, I'm I don't hate booing at the footy.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
The Crows fans boode Dan Houston every time he touched
the football last night, which I get because Dan Houston
they have ay have a thing for. He used to
play for Port and he knocked out one of their
players last year and that's different though you have that
as history. Nick Daykos gets booed because he's one of
the best players ever and you just want to do
anything he can to get in his head. And sometimes
he ducks the free kicks last week.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
It was not just part of the game though. That
doesn't fly. I was talking, Yeah, well tell me what
you think.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
The third point is, well, you can't boo eyes that
quainta purely because he was the one that was called
a homophobic slur exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
It was where I was going.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
So you agree with me?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah? Good? Absolutely, you were there, how did it make
you feel.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I was actually sitting next to a few Crows people
who I bed fairly right wing Crows people, and they're like, oh, I.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Don't really know why we're booying him.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Were they mooing him or were they just going.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Oh god, people were booing him. Yeah, it's embarrassing for Adelaide, right.
It makes us look backwards and disgusting.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
The guy that was on the receiving end of the
F word a couple of weeks ago, and we're booing
him every time he gets the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
To Isaac's credit, he did speak postgame, and he was
pretty nonplussed about it.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
I did hear, you know, a little bit of it.
But to be honest, I get so locked in in
games I don't really pay much mind to anything else
about other than what's on the field. So what I
paid mine to was the Collingwood fans with the Collingwood
chant and the incredible noise that they were making.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
And the other person who's probably worth hearing from is
the Collingwood coach, Craig McCrae, who was also pretty measured
but disappointed.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
I thought, that's disappointed.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
He must have touched a forty lot because he had
a lot.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Of the ball.

Speaker 7 (03:13):
Really proud of him and Dan and others.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
We're pretty keen not to make this the story of
the game, really, Like, I'm sure he can report on that, but.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
It's one of the important stories, isn't understand?

Speaker 6 (03:21):
Yeah, there's a story behind it.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
You can write what you're like.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I'm disappointed in the booing.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
I've always been disappointing them.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
We got like all this extra security last night because
we were worried about what might happen, and then it's
actually our fans that were the embarrassing ones.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Just a little bit of booing. We have a calling
fan who's called in. Zach has called in. He came
over on the bus from Melbourne.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Morning. Zach, you're happy this morning? Or what?

Speaker 6 (03:42):
Good morning? Sure guys, sure.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Were you in the game last night?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
And what'd you think of the booing for your man
Isaac Quaannah?

Speaker 6 (03:51):
I thought it was disgusting, to be fair, but I
thought it actually went against the four Crows because it
made the boys get excited.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah, you could really see the Collingwood players lifting and
getting around him. There was a big push and shove
at halftime and They all defended Isaac Quayana. I don't
even know if he was involved in it, but they
were defending him, and then they got around him and
then he lifted.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
He was one of the best players on the.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
Day, and our back six all listed, and I think
that was actually thanks for the Crows, So thank you
Adelaide for your behavior.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Are you back home yet? Are you like still on
the bus?

Speaker 6 (04:23):
No, I'm still on the beloved bus. We're back in
Victoria though, we're just at aarraw rat.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Oh God, don't visit the jarlin our rat.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
It's really nice, Zach. How is a bus ride like
after a win?

Speaker 1 (04:33):
We're people up and about for a while, and then
they realized it was three am and they needed a
bit of a nap.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
Yeah, it was. Everyone was up at about it. And
suddenly we were up in the Adelaide Hills and just
everyone went silent and went asleep.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Mate. Oh man, you're like a really nice calling supporter.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
There are a few, aren't there, Zach.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
Some of us are.

Speaker 7 (04:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Do you hate the crows? How do you feel about
the crows?

Speaker 7 (04:56):
No?

Speaker 6 (04:57):
I used to like the crows, but I'm not sure
after the booing. How I feel.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, Oh, you're a good man.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
I like that, Zack, thank you for calling in.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I'm sorry for waking everyone else up on the bus
if you're talking too loudly.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I hope you enjoyed some sleep today.

Speaker 6 (05:11):
Thank you so much. That's right there used to be
being okay.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
No, I know that last night the Crowe's lost to Collingwood,
and the Crows fans, a lot of them, did not
cover themselves in glory by booing Isaac Quaana every time
he touched the footy, and.

Speaker 8 (05:26):
Then Dawson pros it on the boat outside fifty Quine Oil.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Be re ented.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
All right, we've been talking about this all morning, not
the fact that the Crows lost, the fact that this happened. Yeah,
everyone's talking about it, and we I think on the
same page here.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
We think it's just I was so shocked.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And for those of you that missed, Isaac Quayana is
the man that Isaac Rankin used the homophobic slur against,
and the Crows fans booing I assume, correct me if
I'm wrong, are doing it because Isaac sort of got
their Isaac.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Suspended, Not really, he didn't, I know, our Isaac unfortunately
got himself suspended.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
He was the one that said the word yeah. No
one made him say that.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Hey, we're doing footy talk back radio.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
We never get to do it and we love a
little flat So thirty one O two three give us ring.
What do you reckon? Chantelle in Faridine Park? You're not
really a footy fan? What do you think about this?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Look?

Speaker 9 (06:16):
I just think it's terrible. Like I, well, two things,
I don't know about people these days. But if we're
going to pay money and go someblare, I'm going to
have fun. And the game is called a football game,
so it's about having fun. And the how these people
aroby parents, So what do they teaching their children?

Speaker 3 (06:34):
That's what I thought, Chantelle.

Speaker 9 (06:36):
Not for me, Like I just I don't think and
I don't know about you guys, but I'm at an
age that I want to go out. I want to
have fun because if I'm not going to, I'm going
to say it, I'm put a blanket on and watch TV.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Chantell.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Some people's idea of fun might be going to the
footy and doing well.

Speaker 9 (06:52):
If that's their idea of fun, mate, they'd better get
some help.

Speaker 7 (06:56):
Right now.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
I think that I think we probably agree with you
on that reason. Thank you, Chantelle. Natasha in Richmond. Are
you watching along with your twelve year old? How was
that experience?

Speaker 7 (07:07):
Yeah? So he's a footy life having twelve years old
and we're watching and he's very inquisitive and they're doing
and we could explain to him, you know, the other
players that they're doing the day costs, you know, because
he's really good. But when when they were doing Isaac,
he was saying, well, why they're doing them? Mum? And
I was like, I had no response. I really had

(07:28):
no response.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
How did you try to explain it to him?

Speaker 7 (07:30):
And yeah, obviously he knows, he knows, you know a
little bit. And he was like, isn't that the guy
that Isaac said something too? And we were like yeah,
and he said, well, why are we doing them? And
we had nothing. We really had nothing.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
This is the beautiful innocence, isn't it.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
Exactly?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Did you explain to him a couple of weeks ago
about what the F word was and how bad it was?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
People call each other that.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
No, we said he said something bad, but we didn't.

Speaker 10 (07:55):
Go into what he said.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Crows person, Natasha.

Speaker 7 (07:58):
Yes, I am very disappointed though, Yes.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, what does it make you think of of your
fan base last night, at least the few that were
doing it in the crowd extremely disappointed.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
It's really yeah, and you're right, there'd be other twelve
year old kids there last night going mom and dad
white people booing, or I'm doing because my parents are booing.

Speaker 8 (08:15):
Would you like to hear the club do something or
come out and make a statement or anything, or just
drop it and move on.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
I think they need to address it, definitely, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
I think it would be powerful from someone at the club,
maybe Tim Sill was the CEO or Maddie Nicks to
come out and say that's that's not really on guys.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Yeah, and if you do that again, you're getting out
of the stadium.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Mitch in Brahma Lodge, you are a portman.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
I'm guessing you probably enjoyed the footy last night for
that reason.

Speaker 10 (08:39):
Mitch, maybe just a little bit, mate.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
What do you think? What do you think of all
of the booing?

Speaker 10 (08:45):
No? Well, from what I heard, Collingwood supporters were much
better to grow supporters in the crowd.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
So really, what have you heard Mitchell.

Speaker 10 (08:53):
Well booing and you know, just paying him out for
what Isaac did. Yeah, at the end of the day.
I think it's just part of the game, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
So I don't know what's part of the game. I
think there's there's a you know, there's a time for booing,
like Max's.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Explained, when there's like a bit of rivalry, that's fine,
that's what sport is.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
But this is as a much deeper meaning to it.

Speaker 10 (09:16):
Yeah, I think you're just it's always going to be
there with whatever club and whatever supporter base it is.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
So yeah, I get it. People just get angry at
the footy.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
Is this like victim blaming? Is this like a form
of victim blaming? You mean like Sequina in theory is
the victim right of the homophobic slur. Not in theory,
he is is the victim of the And then we're
all going, this is your fault that our man's out
of the game, This is your fault that we're losing.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
It was not his fault.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
There was another prominent Adelaide radio person who was calling
the game last night who said, well, I understand why
we're doing him. It's because he was the reason that
someone from a different station.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
He's not the reason though, Do you agree he's not
the reason.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Of course I agree. Don't use a slur on the
football field. Yes, it's not hard like that. It's so
not hard.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Weirdly like thousands and thousands of people were and we
put it out there. We'd like to hear from you,
like if you want to say why you did it,
or maybe you regret booing, or you're just doing it
because the guy next to you is doing it the moment,
we'd love to hear from you.
