Speaker 3 (00:25):
Is your chance to do that? When you hear the
Who's your Daddy?
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Coming up?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Soon? Who is your daddy?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
And what does it do?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Right now? Collingwood are Adelaide's daddy. They beat them last night. Yeah, yeah,
they rolled them last night in the qualifying final. But
all everyone is talking about this morning is the booing
of Isaac Kuana. Every time the Collingwood star touched the ball,
he got booed. He is, of course the player Isaac
Rankin used the homophobic slair against a few weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
We have been shaming those Crows fans that were booing
all morning, but we thought, well, let's get the president
of the Collingwood Football Club, former president. I thought he
was still president much. I know, Yeah, Eddie McGuire on
the phone. Let's just see what he thinks.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
It was a great winman the Pas through the final,
one step away from a Grand final, a huge crowd.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Last night at Adelaide Oval.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Was a big round, ruckless.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Crowd, and now the past were magnificent last night. So yeah,
feeling great.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Of course you're feeling great, and you know what, we
have got our tales between our leg today. I'm so
embarrassed on behalf of all the Crow supporters. How did
you feel last night when our supporters were booing your Isaac.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Well, look, there was a few players that were targeted,
and it's one of those things on a night like that,
you want the supporters to actually be supporting their team.
And I felt a bit actually for Isaac Renkin last
night because I know that Collinwood had reached out to
Adelaide to make sure that Isaac was okay, and particularly
Everyone's heart was breaking for Isaac Renk. And when you
(01:51):
did that press conference the other night, we took it
live on My show and Footy Classified and just how
ruad all was and you know, everybody was quite keen
to put a line under it at that stage. And
I know that the supporters were trying to do what
they thought was the right thing in supporting Isaac, but
in fact what they did is they bring it up
again and in these situations for a plan to be
able to put this behind them and for everyone to
(02:13):
move forward, you've got to move forward. So it was
disappointing from that point of view. I mean, it's disappointed
for a number of points of view. I'm not one
of those people who comes down hard on footy crowds.
They're generally good hearted people. They're trying to do the
right thing and they sometimes get it wrong, and we
all do in life. But it's one of those things
now for people to be able to if you really
want to support Isaac break and if you're an Adelaide supporter,
(02:34):
let it go through and the other side of things
for the community and what we're all trying to achieve
in these things, Let's move on from it, have the
lessons and you know, and take the next step.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Eddie, now that it has happened, you've been president of
the Pies before. If you were in that role still,
do you think that the Crows, you know, the hierarchy
needs to come out and say, hey, guys, that's not on.
What would you do if you were still in that
position and it was the Pies fans.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Well, you've got a magnificent president and John Olson and
you know you've got a really good football club. I
think what you need to do is, particularly after a
game it was so important in the context of the season,
get up today, shake your head, work it through and
then build towards it. And you know, I've got no
doubt that'd later a great football club and they'll address it.
(03:19):
And that's what football gods are great at doing. You
have to respond to things that happen, you know, because
you don't go out and plan all that sort of
stuff and then try and take the crowd with you.
Not not embarrass the crowd and not make them feel bad. Okay, guys,
we actually understand what you're trying to do.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
It didn't work. We would prefer if you.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Actually got in and cheered the players. And when you know, Collin,
we've got two goals up, that's when we need you
to roar and get behind them. That's the sort of thing.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Anie.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Do we know how your Isaac is going what happened
in the change rooms last night, after this all happened.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I he's a very resilient young man.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
I mean, he's not impervious to anything that's going on.
But having said that, I mean I'll put my old
Collingwood beanie on here. Booing colling was the last thing
you want to do, The last thing on God's earth
you want to do is get Collingwood feeling as if
they're the underdogs, and particularly when we've got our own
supporters there who are.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Screaming and roaring, and know we draw off that sort
of thing.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
So for Isaac and and you know, the players like
Darcy Moore, the the new age guys, they're not you know,
the old footy wolfead They're they're sensitive guys. But at
the same time, I thought, Isaac Quine the Last Night
was one that played one of these greatest games for Collingwood,
and Darcy Moore was in Purvis in the back one.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
So everyone who they bud lifted and played. And that's
the thing. You know, It looks that there's been plenty.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Of times on Collingwood have because supporters of booed and
gone the wrong way and these things as well. And
I used to hate us and don't crank them. I
was I went down one time to the cheers, God
do not do not boo and yell abuse at Wayne
Carey every time. Remember that, And and I just said
guys just cheer our guys because you know there's players.
(04:54):
It's like derm bread And if you told him mcgag,
he'd laugh, and you know he'd be mucking around it.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
He gave me a backhand. You kill you.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
What you're saying, essentially is the Crows fans are the
reason why you guys won, because.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
It's got to help. Yeah, well put it this way.
It didn't hurt.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
And look as a column of men sitting in the
stands when it all started, you know, it got it
got my attention, got me focused, and yeah, so that's
the certain things I think what we need to do though,
was I think Craig mccraige got it right. I'm very
much I'm not a boer, I'm a cheerer. I'm a supporter.
And that's that's what we need. And as I said,
I don't want madelad Cross people to wake up this
(05:30):
morning and feel embarrassed. They should look back and I go, Okay,
we got that one wrong. Let's let's go a different
way and build a different culture and support Isaac Rankin
by letting this thing go and and learn from it
so that he's four weeks are not.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
In vain that what we need to do.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
We love a teaching moment, Eddie. Hopefully this is that
fur those at booing Crows fans. Thanks for your time, mate,
I'm sure you'll enjoy the spoils of victory.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
I'm going home to watch the replug ten times.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
So you guys all right, hey, coming up win with
Father's Day. When you hear Arnold saying who's your daddy?
And what does he do?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
You call thirteen when I
