Speaker 3 (00:16):
Don't you Little Goaran, and thank you very much, Borrow
nearly coming in to the studio.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Thanks for nearly having me.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
What do you love most about your show?

Speaker 4 (00:27):
I think I love the stuff in this show is
it's true to how I'm feeling right now in my life.
And I think anytime I can do a show that
sort of nails the feeling that I'm feeling at the
time when I'm writing it, then I'm really happy with that.
And I think I've done that in this show.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
That's a great thing to say, because I see a
lot of comedians who are just trying to please the audience.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yeah, that crowbarring thing and trying to please the audience
or please the masses or whatever is what I was
doing maybe a few years ago. And I've learned to
stop doing that, and that's been like the most rewarding
feeling in comedy for me. To make that transition.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I reckon, if you could write a one sentence review
of your show, what would it be?

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Lewis Gannon makes you laugh for an hour and also
shows you who he really is.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Well, that could also be the review of a really
bad stripper. So how would you go as a mail stripper.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
I'd be so bad. I'd be terrible. I'm way too clumsy.
I once got injured in a football game, not on
the field. I got injured walking to the bench and
I walked into this sign and I had to get
seven stitches in my head.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Do you remember what the sign said.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
I don't think I look, but yeah, it probably said,
like watch out my head.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Do you have a pre show ritual for this show.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
I don't have a specific one for this show, but
I have some rituals that I like to always do.
I have a watch that I always make sure i'm wearing,
or I try to make sure I'm wearing because I
really like it. And I like to do breathing and
stretching before doing comedy. I know that might sound a
bit wanky or whatever, but no.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
I completely I think breathing is essential for everything.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
That's an interesting deal. I've never heard that.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
I'd love to make your answer. I like breathing and
also looking with my eyes, and you know, I like
my heart to be beating. Your aprecial ritual is try
and be alive exactly.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Yeah, Yeah, don't die before the show essentially, which is
harder than it sounds sometimes.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
What celebrity would you love to see in the front
row of your show?

Speaker 4 (02:48):
I'd love to say an author called Barbara Kingsolver. Have
you ever heard of her? She's phenomenal. You would love
her books. Get a look at any of her books. Argon.
She's the best writer in the world. She wrote a
book recently called Damon Copperhead, which is about the sort
of about the opioid epidemic in America, but it's fiction.

(03:09):
I don't know. Some of your listeners will know she's
she's incredible.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
You're you're the first comedian who have asked that question
of that A didn't choose another famous comedian or B
didn't choose someone that they want to have sex with
after the show, unless you still want to have sex
with her after I.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Didn't say that. I wouldn't have I don't recall saying that.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
So the door is open. Yeah, your show is about
the world aiming towards being more convenient and easy. Should
that be a thing we aim for?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Do you think I think we've gone too far. I
think what I've realized is we're little robots and we've
got all these scripts and processes. And because everything's so easy,
the Uber, the Uber eights, the Netflix, everything's prescribed. You
don't have to make a decision about anything you do
in your life. It's making me feel more and more
like a robot. And I was at a pub recently

(04:07):
and they had like a charging station for your phone
where you go over to a tap your card, pay
five dollars for an hour, and there's a cord there
and it charges your phone. And it's like, are we
that afraid of that? Just being able to go over
to the bartender and say, hey, mate, did you bring
a phone charger from home that I could just borrow
as a human. Well, you know, we're just taking away

(04:28):
all those tiny interactions, which is it's just shit for
life and for comedy. You know, that's where all the
gold is in life. So yeah, I think we've gone
too far.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Where's the limit? What's that nice sweet spot between convenience
and losing those stories.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
I think that that's a really good question, and it
would be very everyone would say a different point in history.
You're a bit older than me, you would remember the nineties.
I was born in the nineties, so I don't remember them,
but I from what I've seen footage and what I've
heard Iregon, that was the sweet spot. What's your feelings
on that? Would you agree?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I had a great time in the nineties, so I
absolutely don't remember the nineties either. So your excuses you
were a baby. My excuse is that I was hav
enough great time. Convenience closes the door to adventure, do
you think absolutely?

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Adventure, spontaneity, all the things that excite me in life
get closed, and like, yeah, the convenience is great. When
you're feeling lazy, it's almost like there should be a
blocker on it. You know, you should be able to
do one of these little convenient things per week, and
that's your trait. You know, you can get uber eates
once away and then your account max is out or something.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
You say this as if you can't do this yourself.
You say this as if someone is forcing you to
use this convenience. You can easily live in a cave
and just eat rice and what yeah, why don't you then.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Completely taking the os off myself to make any sacrifice.
This is already sort of sustain any self power or
will or whatever. I can't do that.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
I love the fact that you're the victim because you
have so much.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Exactly, it's bullshit, it's not fair. It's gone too far.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Lewis Garnum, thank you very much for nearly coming in.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Thank you so much for having me, for nearly having me, and.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
