Speaker 1 (00:00):
Haley and Max in the morning.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
With these two together, anything can happen.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Adelaide's number one for fun. Good Morning Adelaide three past six, Haleen,
Max in the morning.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
Good morning Away in the studio.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm just having some fun with a friend.

Speaker 5 (00:20):
Do you know what I think of every day when
I drive to work, Max, And I don't know if
this is a girl thing or if this is something
that ever crosses your mind? Because I drive past all
our wonderful park plans, because we're surrounded by so many
beautiful parks.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I love it, love that about Adelaide.

Speaker 5 (00:32):
I always think how much would I have to be
paid to walk through our park plans at night?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
So this is different for you and I obviously because
of genders. So it never crosses your mind, does it?

Speaker 6 (00:45):
No?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Because here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (00:46):
Right when I was eight a nineteen twenty, and I
would go out every single weekend to town. My family
lived very close to the park plans, and I would
walk home all the time, and you.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Never once was afraid, So you weren't scared all the time.

Speaker 6 (01:00):
And it's a terrible don't I recommend if you're listening
right now, as an eighteen year old don't do it.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
I'm also thinking, like, I'd have to be paid about
a million bucks to.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Do that, but you do it for free.

Speaker 6 (01:10):
Yeah, I would walk home, and you know, I didn't
see it as free. I actually saw it as making
money because fortunately we lived very close to the CBD
and it was only a ten dollar taxi ride home.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
But I was like, oh, ten dollars is too much,
as it's into your petrolus for the week.

Speaker 6 (01:25):
I've just been tucking into two for one vod just
at the havelock all night because I'm trying to save money.
I'm trying to save some money thing. I'm going to
drop ten bucks on a taxi ride home when I
live like fifteen hundred meters away.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Please just risk your life every night. I would walk
home all the time, and Mom and Dad hated.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
It, but I God, I would dive if my kids
did that. Don't walk through the park plans ever.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Guys, you'll be right, but don't do it. Don't do
it unless you pay big money.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
To do it.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Ten dollars, ten dollars off your taxi ride. I hate
to go through today.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Two brands.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
We'll give it away two grand our money Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Why Wednesday. How much cash coming out of our bodies?
Haven't we under our arms everywhere?

Speaker 6 (02:08):
And we're also going to reflect on if you listened
to the show last year, Sergeant Sammy was such a
big part of it. He was out year old boy,
had an inoperable brains, humor and we shut down the
city for Sammy so he could be our police officer
for the day.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
He was capturing criminals.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
Peter Malanowsker, the police commissioner, they were all on board.
Sergeant Sammy has unfortunately passed away. We're going to celebrate
Sammy's life. Yeah, I'm doing sad radio. We're doing happy
radio because Sammy did some great stuff and you Adelaide
were all a part of it.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
We're going to talk about him a little bit later.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Look beauty today, every call of gains Day.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Here a mixed one and two point three Kitten's Bakery
Hot Cross Buns prize packs.

Speaker 2 (02:51):

So good.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
Okay, we're gonna play the little game with you. What's
Cooking good Looking? We've put it yesterday. We didn't cook
up a recipe. Yesterday, we cooked up a TV show. Yeah,
because we love TV shows, especially from the nineties and
the two thousands.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
We do.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So What's Cooking Good Looking?

Speaker 6 (03:23):
Originally was a recipe and it was you know, olive oil,
salt pasta, and we just had to guess as more
ingredients got revealed. Now it's become TV shows, So as
more ingredients of the TV show get.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Revealed, we guess and you win.

Speaker 6 (03:36):
On thirty one, O two three, give us a ring
if you want these hot cross bug back.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Who doesn't want a hot cross, but because we want
to play for you. He's an example of how it
goes down.

All right, the game is a good game.

Speaker 3 (03:57):

at me like I'm Phoebe. Phoebe. You've got some Phoebe.
But I'm Jennifer Aison. I'm not Phoebe.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Jenniferdison's walking around all the time with a nipping out.

Speaker 2 (04:31):

We're doing what's cooking good? Look at?

Speaker 5 (04:58):
It's a game that we play where Burjo reads out
the recipe to a TV show. Yeah, we yell our
hardest and guess the TV show and then we win
for our listeners.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
That's two out of three is the way we've been
playing it. We've got Leah in Hewittt on the line.
You are playing for Leah Hailey, Leah, can you please
tell us why you've chosen Haley.

Speaker 8 (05:19):
Oh well, Hailey's not exactly lucky with a competition winning
so I thought i'd give a little bit of backing today.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Leah, I won yesterday.

Speaker 9 (05:27):
I didn't hear it.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
I carry over cham If you win in the woods
and the tree falls down, anyone, does it count?

You know?

Speaker 1 (05:34):

Speaker 7 (05:35):
Dare you?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:36):
It actually says next to your name, chose Hailey because
she always loses.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I'm fine with that. I'm fine to be the underdog.

Speaker 7 (05:45):
All right.

Speaker 6 (05:45):
Well, Lia's in the running with some hot cross buns.
I've got Allison and Seaford Meadows.

Speaker 2 (05:49):

Speaker 10 (05:53):

Speaker 6 (07:59):

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Duck.

Speaker 11 (08:04):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Thanks for listening. We love you.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Some terrible news to wake up to this morning. Our man,
Sergeant Sammy Scully, who we had a lot to do
with on this show last year, has unfortunately passed away overnight.
It was an inoperable brainshim. We knew this day was
coming there originally said with Sammy. He was diagnosed back
in twenty twenty three, right at the start, probably twelve
months to live, and his mum, Allison, was just doing

(08:30):
everything she could to.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Make it a happy ending for Sammy.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
And here we are, what like twenty six, twenty seven
months later, So he more than doubled. He more than doubled.
He fought until the end. Sammy, We had him a
lot on this show last year. We originally got a
letter in Alie and I at the time from a
friend of the family saying that my best friend Ali
has a heart of gold. You know, this is introduction

(08:58):
to Sammy. If there's anything you I can do, because
anyway we can get this story out there, we would
like I'd be so appreciative.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
And I see I wasn't on this show at that time,
and I remember seeing these beautiful photos of this little
kid dressed in a police outfit.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, try to save the world.

Speaker 6 (09:15):
So he came in here and he was a little
bit shy to start with, and we just talked to
Sammy and we talked to Mum and had over time,
as we continued to throw more and more toys in
the studio at him, he sort of started to open
up and he felt comfortable around us, and we got
to a point where he said, I.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Want to be a police officer when I grow up.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
And there wasn't a whole lot of growing up to
do for Sammy, but hey, we could still make you
a police officer. So with the help of the government,
Peter Malanawskus, with the help of Grant Stevens, Everyoneard, everyone
jumped on board and we put on this day for
Sammy that I would imagine he would never forget. We
caught up with Allison a few times afterwards the mother

(09:57):
and she said, you know, he's still wears his police
uniform and we.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
Are thinking of you and your any siblings and family, grandparents,
everyone that loves him.

Speaker 6 (10:07):
Yeah, and everyone out there that was a part of this.
When we shut down Rundle Mall, like thousands of people,
we shut down Rundle Mall for Sammy and made honestly,
in his mother's words, the best day of his life.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah, it would have been.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
It's something that is well worth revisiting. I think it's
a sad day, but Adelaide came together and made a
very happy day for Sammy.

Speaker 12 (10:33):
We planned to be on the ground for fifteen minutes,
but he's already got his seat belt on and he's
reated to go.

Speaker 13 (10:37):
I think he's lost for words at the moment. We
thought he might be a little bit scared about the
shopper beach. Well, I couldn't keep up with him. He's
really excited and as he writes people, well.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
This is bloody exciting. We're at Adelaide Oval, three.

Speaker 7 (10:49):
Meters above the ground.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
The police shopper is coming into land with Big Sammy.

Speaker 7 (10:54):
He is alive.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
Say this is your police John, Sammy. Wait wait, these
people are all here to help you solve the crime
he is.

Speaker 14 (11:07):
Everybody has together for Sageant Savenay.

Speaker 15 (11:11):
Everybody, can you please put your hands together for the
incredible police Commissioner Grant Stevens.

Speaker 12 (11:17):
He's our newest recruit, but I think he's showing the
rest of us up already.

Speaker 13 (11:21):
He's doing a fantastic job.

Speaker 15 (11:22):
Are you ready to go and fight crime and find
some criminals?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yes, I'll drive now.

Speaker 12 (11:26):
The first person we're looking for is Riley O'Brien. Can
you go and find him and bring him back and
put him in this cage that's.

Speaker 7 (11:33):
Cheering on straight into jail?

Speaker 13 (11:40):
Riley something? He was too good. He caught me behind
the picture. Briley, you do the crime, you do the time,
my friends.

Speaker 12 (11:45):
The next criminal we're looking for, do you know Alex
carry the cricketer.

Speaker 6 (11:49):
You need to find our wicket keeper, Sammy.

Speaker 14 (11:51):
Sammy, sam sam straight into jail with you, Alex.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
He doesn't want to go.

Speaker 15 (12:02):
Get him in there, Alex Garry, how are you going
in jail?

Speaker 4 (12:05):
I don't think it's suiciville. I'm not comfortable in it.
So you get the betting a thief, Alex.

Speaker 12 (12:10):
One last bear thief to catch. Now this guy, one
of the most famous South Australians.

Speaker 13 (12:16):
Can you find guy Spastian for us?

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Please?

Speaker 13 (12:18):
Could he be over there?

Speaker 7 (12:20):
Sammy, he's going to do a runner, Sammy. Don't let
him get away. I think we got him straight in
the cell.

Speaker 13 (12:29):
Sammy. You didn't have to man handle me.

Speaker 7 (12:30):
Dude.

Speaker 13 (12:32):
Who is the toughest criminal to catch? Sammy sat.

Speaker 15 (12:38):
How do you think your newest recruit has gone today.

Speaker 12 (12:41):
Well, I think for his first day on the job,
Sammy has done an excellent job with three serious criminals
arrested and in jail.

Speaker 13 (12:51):
Well, now, Sammy, who wants here?

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Guys about you?

Speaker 12 (13:11):
I have a special note here signed by the Governor
of South Australia, thanking Sammy for his service to the
community of South Australia as Senior Sergeant Sammy Scully. So, Sammy,
make sure you keep your uniform ready, make sure it's clean,
because if you get a phone call from me, I

(13:31):
expect you to be ready to come and help us
out again.

Speaker 13 (13:33):
All right, Well, don't congratulations.

Speaker 15 (13:37):
So ma'm alie, this might mean a little bit more
to you. You can explain on the way home to
Samuel how important this is.

Speaker 16 (13:44):
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in
Adelaide for the support of my little boy and everyone
that constantly gives.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Me that bill stuff.

Speaker 7 (13:53):
We will need it.

Speaker 15 (13:56):
So I think the most important thing is that, Sammy,
what do all policemen eat?

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Yeah, it was such a big day, such an emotional day,
and you heard guys of asht singing choir there, and
I remember the moments choir was saving favorite song and
I remember the moment Sammy and his mom standing there
hugging each other while guys said ashly performed that song,

(14:22):
thousands of people standing behind them, those two just staring
at Guy in awe, tears streaming down their face.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
But they're the only two people in loundonmore.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Oh my god, it still send She was down Si.
It was unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
It really does.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
If this is a story that's touched you, if you've
had some happy memories, some sad memories, anything you wanted
to share, leave a message with the family. Were happy
to be the conduit for you. Thirty one or two three,
give us the ring. Our producers are happy to speak
to all of you, and we can pass on any
message you want to pass on to Sammy's family. We're
going to speak to mom Ali a little later on.
She is one of the bravest women in the world.

(14:56):
God yeah, she said.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
Every mum listening to this right now is just like
their heart is jumping out of their chest and just
want to send her all the love.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, and the siblings and the whole family.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
If you want to send some love the other way, Adelaide,
We're happy to hear from you as we remember Sergeant
Sammy scoutch.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Was weird.

Speaker 13 (15:21):
He's tea left.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
All right, nice little elderflower tea for us this morning.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Makes him delicious.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Okay, you're gonna love this one. Isaat Rankin, love him, Love.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
The Crows, He's my man, superstar Crowe were their best player.

Speaker 7 (15:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
He hit the stage at Nine's gathered around in the
Barosso last night, which looked amazing.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
I was so proud to.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
Be South Australian last night seeing on the Footy Show
and everywhere. Rankin jumped up and out of his comfort
zone because he's a footy player and decided.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
To perform a roon five. She will be loved.

Speaker 9 (15:51):
What listen for the girl Brokus smile, hask you issuance
to steal?

Speaker 2 (16:10):
I love his.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
Voice so good at he did it last year as well.
I think he's saying the Frey or something he did Alan.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
Can we please get him into the studio and do
some live Isaiah Ranking I love him.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
That's too much for us.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
So he doesn't he do it for free? Is a
nice man? Okay, Minecraft movie listen up. I'm a mum
of boys who cannot wait to see the Minecraft movie
on the weekend. My thirteen year old went there because
everyone's talking about. He went to the movies by himself,
saw the Minecraft movie. I know, with his mates. This
is the first time it happened as well. No, with
his mates, but I wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
So the thing, the biggest thing that's happening with this movie.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
It was the biggest highest opening movie of all time,
which is huge.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Every kid wants to see. Its millions of dollars.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
But the reason I was talking about is the behavior
of the theater is going viral all over TikTok. So
there's this thing called the Chicken Jockey where there's this weird,
creepy monster writing a chicken, and apparently all the audience
everyone in the movie starts jumping up and down and
throwing things.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Have a listen to this. My son.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
My message anson before going did you jump up and
down the Minecraft movie in the chicken jockey scene?

Speaker 2 (17:26):
He said, no, but I've seen it all online.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
But our cinema just started yelling chicken jockey and then clapped.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
Can you imagine, even just like fifteen years ago, reading
a text message that says our cinema started yelling chicken
jockey and then everyone clapped.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
So that's that's that was mitcham waits or whatever it
is over.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
There, Wallace and thank you. Enjoy the Chicken Jockey Minecraft movie.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah, okay, so we have some very exciting news a
little mon turn your paws up.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Oh my god, I'm so excited one of the I
think she would be brilliant live.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I hope she wears a meat dress. Yeah, you know
I wore a meat dress.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
After she wore that, I made a full meat dress
and bore it to a party.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Meat I know it was disgusting for you.

Speaker 12 (19:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Thanks the things we do for radio guys. Who wants
to go on a holiday like desperately.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
Oh, we have just had some great news from Adelaide recently,
Malanowska is announcing that we can go straight from Adelaide
to San France in the year and now Asia come.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
On board for more flights direct from Adelaide to.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Bali because Bali is the easiest holiday destination for all
of us.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
You know, can I give you a fun fact on Bali?
I'd love to hear a fun fact. I went there
for the first time last year.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
I was actually meant to go to Bali, the first
time I was meant to go to Ballei.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
I'd booked my holiday.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
I ended up canceling it because it was with someone
that I was no longer friends with.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
But I was meant to be there during the bombs.
I wonder where you're going with this is? Is that weird?

Speaker 5 (20:00):
And so my mum's always said, you're not meant to
go to Bali and never meant to go to Bali,
And then it turns out that I went and I
was fine last year, but I thought there was a
weird thing with me and Bali and I wasn't meant
to go.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
I could have been.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
There twelve twenty two.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Yeah, you were going to be in Bali. Yeah, oh
my god, weird. You know what.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Let's hope that the bombings are done, because the good
news is you can go.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
You can go.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
The news that Haley is skirting around here is that
there's new Indonesia Air Asia roots Like they're going to
fly direct from Adelaide to Bali. So it's no longer
just that one rappy star flight. But in the night
a time you don't want to go.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
Yeah, especially when you've got kids, it is the worst
time to fly. You'd rather They do have some flights
like once a week where you get to go back
for like ten o'clock during the day.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
This is excellent.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
We've all done it and we know what it's we
know what it's referred to because we're all Bogans at times.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
It's the missile.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
We love going to Balli. What is it about Australians
and Bogans in Bali?

Speaker 2 (20:57):
We love it every week you go. It's embarrassing that
you're an Australian.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Over there and we see Oh yeah, if I was you,
I'd say I was Italian.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
But they love us. The others.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
It's the Aussies that are over there that are like yuck.
It's like they leave here.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
And they're fire.

Speaker 6 (21:12):
The start a design studio with the pilates, they're perform downstairs.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yah yeah, no, that's cool.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
It's the ones that go there and they suddenly put
their bintensing that on, they drink jungle juice and all
that stuff and they just go wild.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
I'll let the boys play anyway.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
You can head over there when they're starting to fly
a little bit later this year, one hundred and ninety
nine dollar flights direct god Laid to Bali.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Yeah, there's going to be way more roots.

Speaker 6 (21:36):
And I mean they're also going to go to other
tropical destinations, but add Lade to Bali.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
We are very exciting. Yeah, we might feel a plane.
Let's for the play with people and let's go to
Bully together.

Speaker 6 (21:44):
Put that up there on that big one that on
my white board ideas, and.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I'll manifest that idea thoughts.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
I'm into it, same ideas that get mentioned in the
planning meetings that Haley then brings to the show straight
away without.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
Any If there's any form of holiday, I build a
show around it and we make it happen.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Because everybody loves to travel.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
We've actually got big plans the whole second half of
the year. We're not going to be at Adelaide.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
None of them have got off the ground yet, but
we've got plants.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Elton John's been in our feed I was hoping you
do Pink Pony Club instead of that one.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
I love Elton Club, just love it. It's such a
funny video. So we're talking about it yesterday because he's made.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
Up with Madonna after a long standing feud, and everyone's
talking about it with John. All of a sudden in
our meeting there's about ten people there.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Chloe, who works here, chimed in and goes, oh, oh yeah,
my uncle saved his life. I've gone Elton John story.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
Yeah, I'm like, what how do you sit on that
when you work in media, no normal.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
I don't have an Elton John story and I definitely
don't have one about anyone that I know saving.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
His life, same Chloe did. So we've got on the
phone to share this amazing story with you. Morning, Chloe.
What do you got for us?

Speaker 17 (22:55):
My uncle saved Elton John's life?

Speaker 6 (22:57):
WHOA what uncle saved Elton John's Like, that's a good open, Okay,
tell us what happened?

Speaker 17 (23:03):
Well, my uncles in France and is a firefighter. They
are like basically cops, ambulance all in one. And back
in August twenty twenty three, he got a call from
Elton John who had fallen at home and none of
the help.

Speaker 8 (23:17):
Was in his house like at.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
All, because Elton John.

Speaker 17 (23:22):
Lives overlooking niece like the whole of the French rivery era,
and that day he just had like no help of
home and he fell and he needed someone to pick
him up, and they called the firefighters, so Michael had
to go and rescue him.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
Do you know if he himself Elton John called the firefighters?

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Was him on the phone? Look?

Speaker 17 (23:41):
I think it was, Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
He's in France. He's called nerf N and Uncle's just like, oh,
come and help you Elson.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
Yep, him and his firefighter buddy.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
They all went, oh god, that's so cool. He saved
Elton John's life. So what happened?

Speaker 17 (23:59):
They had to get him?

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Go window?

Speaker 6 (24:00):
Okay, I was going to say, what happens when you
get there and Elton John's stuck in his own big
mansion overlooking the friends go through the window.

Speaker 8 (24:08):
There's no other way in.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Wow, what was he wearing?

Speaker 12 (24:12):
You know?

Speaker 7 (24:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 17 (24:13):
His pajamas?

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Oh my god, it was in his pajamas at the
bottom of the stairs.

Speaker 6 (24:16):
They'd be steep pajamas. Did he have those rosy sunglasses on?

Speaker 8 (24:20):
Look?

Speaker 17 (24:20):
I don't know if he had the rosy sunglasses on,
but I heard they were strip pj's.

Speaker 5 (24:23):
Did your uncle ask for a selfie with Elton John
at some point?

Speaker 8 (24:27):
I think they did.

Speaker 17 (24:28):
The firefighters in these They've got a bit of an
active Facebook page, but I don't I haven't seen one.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
Was probably embarrassed. I had to call the firefighters because
he fell down the stairs.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
What was he rattling about in his own mansion by himself? Yeah,
where's the hell?

Speaker 6 (24:42):
He's like on his deathbed now, So does your uncle
now tell that story all the time.

Speaker 17 (24:47):
Well, I think so. He was pretty excited to tell
me about it.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
So what was Elton john like? What was his personality like?

Speaker 17 (24:53):
Apparently he was really nice, really.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Love I appreciative. It wouldn't be if someone was coming
to say, vulnerable, little box of shorts. Yeah, a little
old Elton hanging out. Oh yeah, that a story.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
That's a cool story. That is something that I'd be
telling everybody the second I meet them that I saved
Elton Johnson.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, thank you, Chloe. Oh good.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
All right, this is one of the most exciting guests
that I could record having on. I'm a huge fan
of this man. He is returning to Adelaide. He is
one of the funniest comedians in the world. He'll be
here next year April seventeen. Tickets on sales soon. But
would you please put your hands together for Jimmy Carr.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
Car.

Speaker 10 (25:36):
That's a lovely introduction, mate, Haley. How's it all going
to Adelaide? How's everyone?

Speaker 7 (25:40):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:41):
He sounds so friendly, Jimmy Carr. I'm waiting for like
the No, he's not always me.

Speaker 10 (25:47):
Oh, I could be mean if you need me, but
I mean I'm kind of excited about coming back to
h to Adelaide. It's gonna be fun, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
We we are so excited.

Speaker 5 (25:56):
Adelaide gets a lot of flak Jimmy Carr from the
East and States in Australia like Melburne's Sydney.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
People think they're so much better than the world Adelaide. Yeah,
they cause boring.

Speaker 10 (26:05):
Yeah, but they don't have they don't have the covered market.
They don't know.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
He knows our markets. But Jimmy, you remember our markets?
Do you remember anything else about it?

Speaker 7 (26:16):
Me?

Speaker 10 (26:16):
All you need is a great All you need is
like the Lord, there's a juice place there, there's a
great little coffee place. And there's all I remember is
there's a great little barber shop on the way as well. Yeah,
you need a neat up if you need to get
straight for the gig. Those guys leave you looking correct.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
You have just been non stop your whole life. Really,
you've been all over the world so many different countries.
Do you finding that some countries get humor like ossis
do we get it?

Speaker 10 (26:42):
I wonder that it's slightly it's kind of self selecting.
I think if someone's bought a ticket to see me
at this point, if someone gets offended by one of
my jokes saying, well, look, you bought a ticket to
a horror movie. Now you're upset because you got frightened.
Really really, so fac think of like wherever I play
in the world. I mean, I'm currently in Scandinavia, and
they are known for being a polite and delightful people.
But not the guys that come and see me.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
They're the naughty ones.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Jimmy, I want to ask you something. Comedy is a
grieving tool. Jimmy, my father he has bow cancer. But
I use comedy as a grieving tool, and I joke
about it all the time, like the second that we
get it.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
It is how I deal with things. I joke all
the time.

Speaker 6 (27:19):
About not having to wait long to get my inheritance
and that sort of gear, because you know, maybe he's
on his last legs, even though I hope he's not.
Do you find yourself using comedy as a grieving tool.

Speaker 10 (27:29):
I think that's the I think that's the purpose of it.
I think our sense of humor is developed as a
It's only really it pays off having a dance sense
of humor, like like mine, it only pays out on
the worst days, you get the diagnosis. To close friend
dies one wife is just too brutal to comprehend. I
feel sorry for the people out there that are easily

(27:50):
offended because they've just got a white knucklet through the
worst days of their life.

Speaker 11 (27:54):
So true.

Speaker 10 (27:56):
At least if you have a dance sense of humor,
you get to have a little bit of a giggle
along the way and it lightens the load.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
Everyone wants a giggle. It's under everyone's skin. They just
want to do it. He's going to be the first
one to start the laugh.

Speaker 6 (28:08):
You need the priest to stand up at the funeral,
and he has to me the one that sort of
breaks the ice a bit. Not enough priests doing jokes
at funerals.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Actually right, Yeah, well.

Speaker 10 (28:15):
I think that thing about you know, it's a human
It's the ultimate kind of fu to death, isn't it. Yes,
it's that thing of It's it's great. It makes it
feel alive.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
Jimmy, South Australia are so excited for you to come
to our beautiful state. Like, we are so excited, and
we know you're a straight shooter, and we know you
give great advice and so we've got a couple of
people on the phone who really want to have a
question for you that they'd love you to answer.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Sure, go, Hey, that's coming up next with a rapid fire.
Should I stay or should I go? Jimmy Carr?

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Oh, he's going to roast those people. I'm nervous. Hot
hot roasts coming up next from the man, Jimmy.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
Let's do a little fun. Should I stay or should
I go? With our beautiful listeners. They have dilemmas and
Jimmy's going to solve them.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
Kelly and mcgil you're on the line, Kelly, you've got
Jimmy Carr.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
What do you want to ask you?

Speaker 17 (29:02):
So a guy that I work with is like really
into me, and I can't tell him that I'm not interested.

Speaker 10 (29:08):
It's so awkward.

Speaker 17 (29:09):
How do I like unattract him?

Speaker 10 (29:11):
Like I want to repulse him? You want to repulse
a guy? Growl your mustache? Maybe, Kelly? I mean, Kelly,
you're you're how old are you? Do you mind me asking?

Speaker 2 (29:24):
I'm twenty six?

Speaker 10 (29:25):
Just just go up to him casually and say, pour
my finger. I would recommend a Mexican lunch before you
do this, and ideal it if you can, And then
and then if you go, could you check? I think
I may have followed through. I don't think you're going
to have any more interest.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
In this, all right?

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Kelly?

Speaker 7 (29:46):
Got that?

Speaker 10 (29:47):
Yeah, maybe I'll give that a try.

Speaker 6 (29:50):
Kelly.

Speaker 10 (29:50):
Are you do you mind me asking follow up questions?

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Kelly?

Speaker 10 (29:52):
Are you single at the moment?

Speaker 6 (29:54):
Yes?

Speaker 10 (29:54):
And this guy likes you?

Speaker 11 (29:55):
Yes?

Speaker 10 (29:56):
Why don't you? I've got a tip for you, Kelly,
or if you like, you could put the whole thing
in why are you just free yourself? Free yourself? Like,
try before you buy. You're not making a commitment here.
But it's a guy I really likes you. I don't know.
Stranger things have happened.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Work out for it.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
It's good.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
We've had some very conflicting advice from Jimmy, and you've
got a couple of options now, Kelly.

Speaker 10 (30:21):
All right, yeah, come on, Kelly, come on love, you're
working a warehouse. Get over yourself.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
We love it, all right.

Speaker 5 (30:29):
We've got Cam in Torrensville. Cam give us your question
to Jimmy Carr.

Speaker 8 (30:33):
Well, girlfriend's taller than me and she got upset when
I asked her to not wear heels.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
What should I do?

Speaker 10 (30:39):
I would say, hike is a big thing. It's the
number one fact on online dating sites. If you're below
five foot seven, then you know you're you're You're taken
out of the game entirely. I think what you have
to do, my friend, and you know what Hike is.
I figured this out. I can help you here, Heike.
It's a proxy for safety.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
That's it.

Speaker 10 (30:58):
All you need to do, my friend. I don't know
how you are the confidence, but what you need to
do is never ever worry about this again. The worrying
is making it ten times worse. Telling her not to
wear heels, wear heels, buy a pair of Boutons to
say sorry, and let her wear the heels and be
the hype that you are. Just be confident, my friend.
All she wants is to be around a confident man

(31:18):
that knows he's enough. No matter how tall you are,
five foot four, six foot four, doesn't matter.

Speaker 6 (31:25):
I was expecting you to come in here and call
him an plumber or something, and you'll just be really
nice and giving actually proper advice.

Speaker 10 (31:33):
I'll do this all day.

Speaker 13 (31:34):
I love this, Jimmy.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Can you never leave us? Honestly, just lovely, just such
a nice man. The wonderful funny Mayor Jimmy Carr.

Speaker 6 (31:41):
We are so excited for you to come here next year.
It is your new show. Jimmy Carr laughs funny, which
he does. If you ever watched add ten Cats does countdown.
He laughs all the time and it's hilarious.

Speaker 10 (31:51):
I've got a theory on my last on my theories,
I love you laugh. At some point, I've had a
rich and buried life. At some point, I've happened across
a man chick lantern and I've robbed sad lantern and
a genie has appeared, and the genieuses tradition. He's granted
me some wushes and obviously he's from Middle East. I'm
from London. But something's been lost in translation. Now instead

(32:13):
of being huddled like a donkey, I laughed like one.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Jimmy Great, and.

Speaker 10 (32:22):
It's a weird, noying.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
That's the one. That's the one.

Speaker 6 (32:25):

generous with your time this morning. Please go and see
this man. Tickets on sale April seventh, very soon. He's
going to be here next year, Jimmy.

Speaker 10 (32:34):

I'm in town. I'm invited.

Speaker 19 (36:48):
Good on shamaily hand matches say it.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Don't like this, don't like it.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
We don't like it when there's something unexpected about to
happen and we have to say it.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Live on the radio. Yeah, it's a wall of truth.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
So basically, our head honcho of our marketing squad, that's
his name's Jiseppi is ten years old.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
He's like, you know, you need to get Adelaide.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
To know you on a deeper level because you're a
brand new show. And he said to do that you've
got to get really personal and really deep questions. So
we've got a wall of envelopes in our studio, each
with a question inside.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
We flip a coin. Whoever it lands on has to
answer the question. We're doing it right now. Let's flip
that coin right now. I flipped it does a sound
effect as well. I've already flipped it, and I already know.
Unfortunately it's make it's chaos sucked in.

Speaker 5 (37:41):
Okay, Mac is going over to the wall closest to me,
pink envelopes.

Speaker 6 (37:46):
I don't like it, anything to do with it. Okay,
have you ever had a run in with the authorities?
I can answer this for you know, does the Navy
counters authorities?

Speaker 2 (38:00):
What straighty one eighty max over here? I do have
one for this. I think you find it quite entertaining,
to be honest. What do you mean?

Speaker 6 (38:07):
Go so I've never had to run into the police.
I have had a run in. I'm going to say
they're the Navy, maybe ex Navy people. So we used
to go our family holiday that we did every year
instead of like you know, driving over to York's or
whatever is you might do with your family. One of
our sports that we grew up doing was skiing.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
We skied.

Speaker 6 (38:27):
It's been something that we do for forever, for my
entire life. So we would go to Mount Buller, which
is the closest one to Adelaide, the cheapest one to
stay at, and we would race right, So we would
go and we would race for our school, for the state.
We'd go on the state championships and a South Australia.
There's like sixteen people that go to this.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
It's amazing. I didn't know you were that good at that.
Thank you. I hadn't told you where I finished. But
it's okay.

Speaker 6 (38:49):
Anyway, we would go and stay over there, and it
was a whole family thing. We'd go family friends. And
the best way to get a whole bunch of families
in one bit of accommodation together without spending a zillion
dollars in the snow is to stay in a lodge.
Oh fancy, it sounds fancy, It's not fancy in reality.
So lodges in reality are just like essentially like big
accommodation with bunks and hot chocolate, hot chocolates exactly. And

(39:13):
you would go into the kitchen and there'd be fifteen
ovens along the side and a bench seating and stuff.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Yeah, camp kind of thing exactly.

Speaker 6 (39:22):
It was sort of like going to a school camp,
but just in the snow, so it was a nicer
setting for a school camp.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
And we would go there.

Speaker 6 (39:28):
And the lodge that we would stay at for a
few years in a row while I was in high
school was the Royal Australian Navy Lodge. Yes, we stayed there.
We had someone who was an ex Navy man. We
stayed there and me and a group of mates. One night,
my brother was involved, my MAT's brother was involved. We decided,
because we were teenagers, to paint dicks on cars in

(39:49):
the snow.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
There was snow.

Speaker 6 (39:51):
We drew them on in the snow. We drew willies everywhere.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (39:56):
Move To be honest, I would still think it's funny
right now as a thirty three year old. And he
did this and the Royal Australian Navy Lodge was not
thrilled with it because they're.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Still military men.

Speaker 6 (40:06):
And we had everyone the entire lodge got pulled in
for a meeting. There's fifty sixty people there in this kitchen.
The head of the lodge gets up on the table
and it's just like, you know, wagging his fingers saying,
this isn't the standards that we uphold around here, and
who's drawing all of the penises the appendages in the
snow outside. We don't want to do it anymore. Me

(40:27):
and my friends are giggling away our mums. I definitely
knew it was us. Anyway, we all go to beb
I say, yeah, we'll never do it again, Mum, We'll
never do it again.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Mom.

Speaker 6 (40:36):
The next morning, everyone wakes up and goes to breakfast
and looks out the front at the head of the
Royal Australian Navy lodger's car, and on his windshield is
a new giant penis and it signed maxim perfect. Sad
morning for all of us here in the studio and
for all of you around Adelaide, because Sergeant Sammy Scully,

(41:00):
as we all got to know in Love last year,
has unfortunately passed away. Was the young lad who had
the inoperable brain tumor. He came in here and we
just went on a whole roller coaster with him and
his family.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
I wasn't on the show at that point.

Speaker 5 (41:13):
I know you and Ali Clark did the most amazing job,
like giving this beautiful little boy one of the greatest
moments of his life, and not just his but by
his mum and his family as well.

Speaker 6 (41:22):
Yeah, we got a message originally from Victoria who was
a friend of the family, saying just describing the story
to us. And you know, the family of all got
hearts of gold and Sammy's got this health issue, which
is it's going to get him eventually. Anything you can
do to help would be appreciated. And we got them
in and they were so lovely. Sammy took a while
to warm up to us. We threw a lot of
toys at him. Eventually we became friends in I think

(41:44):
there was some food bribery in there, and he opened
up to us, to Ali and I that he wanted
to become a police officer.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
One day, Guy's made that happen for him. Yeah, it
was this big dream to be a police officer.

Speaker 6 (41:56):
So we called some people and I mean, take some credit,
but oh my god, Adelaide, you could take all of
the credit because you came to the party. There was
Peter Malanowskis. Yeah, he was stopping traffic. We had Grant Stevens,
the head of police.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
They've just posted about him today as well.

Speaker 6 (42:13):
Everyone was on board with this guy. Sebastian came to town,
Alex Carey, Riley O'Brien, like all of these massive names
wanted to help out Sammy. And we wanted to revisit
in honor of Sammy today, who we know is probably
somewhere right now in his own words, and I get
to say this blowing shit up somewhere.

Speaker 1 (42:33):
We're going to.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Revisit his day as Sergeant Sammy.

Speaker 12 (42:37):
We're planned to be on the ground for fifteen minutes,
but he's already got his seat belt on and he's
treated to go.

Speaker 13 (42:41):
I think he's lost the words at the moment.

Speaker 15 (42:42):
We thought he might be a little bit scared about
the shopper, metn't well.

Speaker 13 (42:45):
I couldn't keep up with him. He's real excited and
he writes people, well, this.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Is bloody exciting. We're at Adelaide Oval.

Speaker 7 (42:52):
Three meters above the grounds.

Speaker 6 (42:54):
The police shopper is coming into land with big Sammy.

Speaker 7 (42:59):
Sam.

Speaker 4 (43:00):
Hey, this is your police God, Sammy, way wave.

Speaker 6 (43:06):
These people are all here to help you solve the crime.

Speaker 14 (43:10):
Has everybody how's together for Sergeant Savatha?

Speaker 15 (43:15):
Everybody, can you please put your hands together for the incredible.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
Police Commissioner Grants Stevens.

Speaker 12 (43:21):
He's our newest recruit, but I think he's showing the
rest of us up already.

Speaker 13 (43:24):
He's doing a fantastic job.

Speaker 15 (43:26):
Are you ready to go and fight crime and find
some criminals?

Speaker 7 (43:29):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Right now.

Speaker 12 (43:30):
The first person we're looking for is Riley O'Brien. Can
you go and find him and bring him back and
put him in this cage that's cheering on?

Speaker 7 (43:39):
Sorry, straight into jail, Riley.

Speaker 13 (43:45):
Sammy was so good. He caught me behind the picture. Briley,
you do the crime, You do the time, my friends.

Speaker 12 (43:49):
The next criminal we're looking for, do you know Alex Carry,
the cricketer.

Speaker 6 (43:53):
You need to find our wicket keeper, Sammy.

Speaker 14 (43:55):
Sammy, sam sam.

Speaker 2 (44:01):
Straight into jail with you, Alex Carrey. He doesn't want
to go.

Speaker 13 (44:05):
Get him in there, Alex Carry.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
How are you going in jail? I don't think it's
Suici Bee. I'm not comfortable in it. So you get
for betting a thief, Alex.

Speaker 12 (44:14):
One last bear thief to catch. Now this guy, one
of the most famous out Australians.

Speaker 13 (44:19):
Can you find guy Sbastian for us?

Speaker 7 (44:21):
Please?

Speaker 13 (44:22):
Could he be over there?

Speaker 1 (44:23):
Sammy?

Speaker 7 (44:24):
He's going to do a run a, Sammy, do you
let him get away?

Speaker 6 (44:28):
I think we got him straight in the cell.

Speaker 13 (44:32):
Sammy, you didn't have to man handle me.

Speaker 7 (44:34):
Dude.

Speaker 13 (44:36):
Who is the toughest criminal to catch?

Speaker 2 (44:38):
Sammy?

Speaker 15 (44:42):
How do you think your newest recruit has gone today?

Speaker 1 (44:45):
Well?

Speaker 12 (44:45):
I think for his first day on the job, Sammy
has done an excellent job with three serious criminals arrested
and in jail.

Speaker 13 (44:54):
Well down, Sammy, who.

Speaker 7 (44:56):
Wants he here?

Speaker 2 (44:56):
Guy's ABUSI.

Speaker 14 (45:02):
Clean?

Speaker 12 (45:15):
I have a special note here signed by the Governor
of South Australia, thanking Sammy for his service to the
community of South Australia as Senior Sergeant Sammy Scully. So Sammy,
make sure you keep your uniform ready, make sure it's clean,
because if you get a phone call from me, I

(45:35):
expect you to be ready to come and help us
out again.

Speaker 13 (45:37):
All right, Weld, I'm congratulations.

Speaker 15 (45:41):
So mam Alie this might mean a little bit more
to you. You can explain on the way home to
Samuel how important this is.

Speaker 16 (45:48):
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in
Adelaide for the support of my little boy and everyone
that constantly gives me that lift up when we'll need it.

Speaker 15 (46:00):
So I think the most important thing is that Sammy,
what do all good policemen eat?

Speaker 3 (46:09):
There was such an incredible morning down there at Gaula Place.
The best memory, I think for a lot of people
was this song, Guy Spashan's Quiet, Sammy's favorite song. Him
and his mom standing there hugging, cuddling each other while
this song blasted out in thousands of Adelaidians just standing behind.

Speaker 1 (46:26):
Them, going, oh my god, what a special moment.

Speaker 6 (46:29):
It was like they were the only two people there
that standing in the front row that had a little
section to themselves, and Sammy was just staring straight at Guy.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
And his mother was crying. It was emotional.

Speaker 5 (46:38):
I think there's a lot of mums listening right now,
just in yeah, tears streaming down their face, thinking about
what Ali the mom is going through this week and
their beautiful family. Ali, who I've never met before. You
got to know her very well last year. She wants
to chat, she wants to jump on our show and
remember her beautiful little son.

Speaker 2 (47:00):
Gonna do that with us next.

Speaker 6 (47:04):
There.

Speaker 3 (47:04):
It is mixed one or two points where Haley and
Max in the morning Senior Sergeant Sammy's favorite song from
Grais of ashen, our.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
Little senior Sergeant Sammy.

Speaker 6 (47:11):
Unfortunately, if you haven't seen the news yet, he passed away.
Sammy was the boy that had the inoperable brainshumor had
a lot to do with us here on the station.
We had that big day for him in Rundellmore. Him
and his family were very close to us. And fortunately,
because I mean we've we've built such a lovely relationship
with them, They've been so open with us. And now

(47:32):
we have had this morning a chance to talk to
her mum, Sammy's.

Speaker 2 (47:36):
Mother, Ali Hailey.

Speaker 6 (47:37):
Evan hollo to do with Ali yet, but as you
found out when we spoke to her, she is, even
a day after her little man passed away, just an
absolute pillar of strength.

Speaker 8 (47:49):
And he was still his beautiful little self and geeky
and smiling, and he felt unconscious the day before. But
then he came back around that evening to get more
I think it a squeeze, and to let daddy know
that his dad was here, turn to let his dad
know that he was with him as well. And then
I had told him that my mum was waiting for him.

(48:12):
But the stranger story came out about four weeks ago
when Sammy was sleeping up to twenty hours a day
and that was purely from disease. That wasn't from medications.
He wasn't highly medicated and he was just in this
And I said to him, I said, do you have
sweet dreams? And I said, what do you dream about?
And he said, I met Nana. Oh my god. And

(48:32):
I said, did you see a butterfly because we always
see butterflies and say hi Nana and he said no.
I said, how did you know it was Nana? And
he said, she told me.

Speaker 5 (48:42):
Does that give you a little bit of comfort, Alie,
knowing that you know that he's with your loved ones?

Speaker 2 (48:47):
And say absolutely?

Speaker 8 (48:49):
And that's what I said to him before he left.
I said, thank you for choosing me to be your mum.
I could not have made me more proud, even even
without all, you know, the whole of South Australian knowing
who he is, my little Sammy, and our little moments
together of him singing you are my sunshine to me
at three am in the morning, and you know, just
holding my hand driving along in the car, Just beautiful

(49:12):
moments that no one else will ever know about or
ever share. They're the ones I'm going to miss am
I right.

Speaker 5 (49:16):
In saying as a mum, we all want to talk
about our children. Somettimes people feel uncomfortable talking to people.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
Who have lost a child.

Speaker 5 (49:23):
For people who are listening right now, your friends and family,
that is really important that you still want to talk
about Sammy, people don't shy away from it.

Speaker 8 (49:33):
Yeah, no, no, that's the worst thing that people. I
understand that. You know, people don't know what to say
or how to react, and neither would I. It's a
terrible thing for someone to say, my child is going
to there's no treatment, there's no nothing.

Speaker 10 (49:48):
They're going to pass.

Speaker 8 (49:49):
But that's the only way to keep everything alive at
the moment that even the happy memories are bringing me
sadness and pain.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 8 (49:59):
He won't even we talked about He's just too inspirational
for that.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
Ali, how the hell are you doing this?

Speaker 6 (50:05):
Like a lot of people want to go into their cave,
they want to go into a shell for like a week.
This is so raw, you know, this bastion of strength
and talking about it with us on the radio.

Speaker 8 (50:17):
I wasn't yesterday. I've been myself, and the girls have been,
and his dad have been dealing and everyone's been following
his journey. They've been grieving for him since day one.
You know, that's over two years ago we started realizing.
I knew that he wasn't going to survive this. Facebook
memories are very difficult when they come up and you

(50:38):
see him pre diagnosis and how happy and you know,
full of life he was, and the fact that he
survived so long in a healthy nine year old body.
It's just his brain that was riddled with the cancer
and his spine. But I'm so proud of him. I'm
so proud of him. I'm proud of my girls. I'm
going to be really really sad with the physical missing

(51:00):
of him and the love that has nowhere to go
at the moment.

Speaker 10 (51:03):
That's what sort of grief is.

Speaker 8 (51:05):
But I don't think I could ever talk about my
Sammy and always be sad.

Speaker 6 (51:10):
Ali that day last year where he became Sergeant Sammy
and shutdown Rundel Male, what did that mean to you
now looking back on it, you and the family.

Speaker 8 (51:18):
That has been the most memorable thing that has happened
he because it wasn't just it continued after the involvement
with mixed grant seasons is such a beautiful human and
he has gone above and beyond for Sammy. He's been
out to the house, he's taken him on the boats,
he's done the blowing stuff. And I'm not going to

(51:45):
repeat the words the final words that Sammy actually did.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Say to me.

Speaker 8 (51:50):
But in the end his fine pain was quite severe
and I had given him some medication to I knew
I needed to move his body and I didn't want
to cause him any extra but I didn't quite wait
long enough, I don't think for the meds to take effect.
And I moved him and he was like it was
hurting him. And right at the end he said, right

(52:11):
now you can f off, Oh my god. And I
was like, okay, well, I still need to find out
if you're comfortable. Are you comfortable?

Speaker 10 (52:25):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (52:25):
I am, And I said, all right, well now I'll
do what you said I can do.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
What a cheat, you little boy you had, Hailey.

Speaker 8 (52:34):
You would have absolutely fallen in love with Oh.

Speaker 5 (52:38):
Even just the photos and hearing you on the radio
last years as a mum. What's the one message you
want to send to everyone across Adelaide that has been
so touched by Sammy?

Speaker 8 (52:48):
The biggest one is do not take your kids for granted,
Do not take any of your loved ones for granted,
because it can all be snatched away from you in
the blink of an eye. And just be kind to people.
So just at the check out at the supermarket or
walking down the street. Everyone is just so caught up
with how crap life is at the moment, but you
never know what the person next to you is going through,

(53:10):
so just just try to try to be a little
bit kinder to each other.

Speaker 2 (53:14):
That's a beautiful message.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
Ali, thank you so much for your time. I don't
want to say sorry for your last We've already said that.
I want to say, on behalf of lad thank you
for sharing Sammy with us and the memories and the
moments that we got to share with such a special.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
And unique kid.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
And you're part of our family now and we love
you and we're here for you, and thank you for everything,
and please just never hesitate to reach out.

Speaker 1 (53:38):
When you need a chat or help or whatever it is.

Speaker 11 (53:40):
Thank you to you guys, and thank you to Mix,
but most of them, thank you to everyone in South
Australia that has loved Sammy cared for him and my family,
and it's just been so overwhelming and humbling, and I
cannot think the people are South Australia enough because we
really do feel that we've been lifted up by people
and we.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
Will continue to talk about Sammy. Okay, yep, thank you guys.

Speaker 1 (54:03):
I want a brave lady. That is it for Haley
and Max today.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
Tell all your loved ones today that you love them.
Big hugs, big hugs all around, Adelaide
