Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mix one or two point three, Hayley and Max in
the morning, very very special guests joining us on the phone.
Award winning Comedia makes some noise. Jack Whitehall's here everywhere.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Like, Jack, Hey, how are you good? We're so excited
to have you on.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
I am such a big fan of Travels with My Father,
the Netflix show, because your dad is the same as
my dad, Jack, We have the same father, and I
think so many people can relate to the fact that
your dad is just out there with very little time
for a lot of people.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Very little time for a lot of people, with very
little time for anything really, like including doing this show
that we're doing now. Like he has no enthusiasm for
it at all, and I tell him, could you please
just like fakes him enthusiasm because it often looks like
you don't want to be there. And I gave him this,
like talking to before the first show. So he's like, yes, okay, fine,

(00:52):
and he went out on stage and he did a
whole thing. He was like, Oh, it's so wonderful to
be here. I'm very happy to be in Australia and
I love Australia and it's so wonderful to be back
in Australia and he looked at me like, you know,
was that good enough? And I was like, yeah, you
kind of nailed the tone of it. The only problem
is worries in Singapore, I have got Australia.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
Yeah, his age though, you just kind of give up
and you can get away with saying anything, right.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Have you got a rule?

Speaker 5 (01:19):
Is there something where you know you don't cross that line?

Speaker 4 (01:21):
I don't know. I don't think he really has many rules.
He doesn't really have much of a filter and never
really know what's going to come out of his mouth.
In fact, they've already been a couple of moments where
he's done a couple of accents that you're not allowed
to do. In twenty twenty five, I was a bit
more worried when mooding our shows in America, but I
feel like a lot more flies in Australia taking him here.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
We're pretty lackadaisical. Jack. You can really come at us
with anything.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
You're going to be at the Entertainment Center on Wednesday,
the fifth of fab but with your old man. I
just want to one more on him for everyone that
hasn't quite got the picture of how he is. This
is from the show and it described him. And to
be honest, my father quite perfectly.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Does all that.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
Oh hi, how is your day?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
I think, off, what are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (02:08):
How was my day?

Speaker 4 (02:09):
My day has got absolutely nothing to do with you.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
So Jack was like, when you sit down with dad
for dinner, just a casual dinner, what can you talk
about that has any interest to it?

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Basically like military history or like the World Wars. That's
basically all he does. We go to these incredible places
and he just sits in a hotel room and he
read some books about Winston Churchill.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
We're huge on Winton. Yeah, we love Churchy. Yeah, we
have Churchill Road.

Speaker 5 (02:37):
You could go down to Churchill Road maybe in Adelaide.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
We love showing new people around, right, and we've got
like amazing places for father and sons like Woodhouse Adventure Park.
You guys can go down the slide and do challenge here.
You can go to amazing pubs, and we've.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Got some of the best wineries in the world.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Yeah, are you going to do anything while you're here?
Is he just going to sit in his hotel room
and be angry at the world.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Adelaide is good because obviously you're near all of the
winery and so that is definitely something that he likes.
So going and taking him and plying him with alcohol,
that definitely works. But yeah, do you know what as well,
he is like that in real life, like that clip
you played with him, you know, telling people to f off.
And I always get so jealous as well, because it's
like I've created this persona where I have to be

(03:18):
on all the time and i have to be like
friendly and approachable even if I'm exhausted or like having
an off day. But like people expect that from Michael.
And I was at this airport in London and he
was obviously in a back why he's always in a
bad mood, that is his set moods. But this woman
came up to him and asked him for a selfie
as he was trying to get through the baggage reclaim,
and he told him to f off. And we were like,
oh my god, that's awful, Like he's going to get canceled.

(03:40):
That could end up in a newspaper. And I turned
around and she was absolutely delighted. She was like telling
her friends says, oh my god, he just did his
catchphrase to me.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Yeah, like this amazing situation where it's just like insulated
because everyone just expects him to be like that, so
he can just be absolutely like horrible to everyone and
they love a bit.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
It's being so nice, all right, Haley.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Max meekes one or two points where he's still joined
by award winning comedian actor and Ryder and a man
whose dad is all about Dad's really mister Jack Whitehall,
still hanging out.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Good morning, Yes, Jackie, he's gonna.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Be lifting off my accolades as well and like bigging
me up a bit because I realized now that I
do that show with my dad, but I've basically been
reduced to being his straight man, which is so depressing.
I did a tour of America with him, and I
was in a hotel lobby and these two guys walked past,
and they recognized my dad and they didn't recognize me,

(04:37):
which was like nothing. The ego and then their conversation
as they walk past me. There's no word of a lie.
I heard one of them say to his friend, who's like, oh, yes,
that's the man from Travels with my Father. It's to
show on Netflix about an esteemed elderly English gentleman travels
the world with his dufos son.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Hah, well, we wanted for everyone else hasn't quite got
the tone of the show yet. We wanted to just
do one little game with you before we let you go,
because it is FM radio and we just have to
play a game. It's almost the rules, really great a
game that we've created for you. Jack Whitehall is who
said it? Michael Whitehall or Gordon Ramsey.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Okay, so we're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
We're going to read you a quote.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
We've got five of them here, and you have to
tell us if your father said this or slightly foul
mouthed chef Gordon Ramsey.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Easy enough, let's go on, Haley all right.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
Number one, I will not cheer up by drinking some
disgusting Australian wine from a bag.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
I think that might be Mikelongoon sight.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
Non share up.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Think some disgusting Australian wine come from a bag.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I love it? I love it? Okay.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Number two, you one from one so far. My grand
could do better and she's dead.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I feel like that could be Michael as well.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
You can do better.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Okay, okay, everything seems to be your dad. Number three,
I will count to five and if you're not in
these pens, you're going in a casserole.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Gordon, I will count to five.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And if you are not in these mens, you're going
in a casserole.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
With him doing sheep farming. Of course.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Oh my god, I love how relatable they both are together.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
What about this one?

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I've never ever, ever ever ever met someone I believe
in as little as you.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Oh, that feels like it could have been said to
me by either of them, to be honest, Gordon, and
I've never ever ever ever met someone I believe in
as little as you.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yes, he's done it, well done. And two Jack, this
is this tiebreaker?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Right, Okay, this is it. This is the last one. Ready,
it's the tiebreaker.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Benedict Cumberbatch, come on, sounds like a vegetable.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Oh, I definitely feel like I've heard Michael be rude
about Benedict Cumberbatch's name, so I think it might be
Gordon Ramsey. Oh, Benedict Cumberbatch sounds like a vegetable.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
You don't know your dad well enough.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
We need more, sat to Gordon.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Thank you for playing Jack. I mean we've learned a
lot about you your father. We're going to learn a
whole lot more when you guys are here on the
fifth of feb at the Entertainment Senate.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
It's been an absolute pleasure mate. We cannot wait to
have you in town.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Amazing speak soon
