Speaker 1 (00:10):
I heard podcasts here more mixed one or two point
three podcasts, playlists and listen live on the Free iHeart app.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
He all thanks to food Land.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Oh no, mate, I actually was seeing this song in
my head before when I knew were going to do this.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
But I was like, this isn't my segment. I can't
suggest that the vergo.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
All right, Burjo, you can laugh about it now, but Burjo,
over the last.

Speaker 5 (00:35):
What four or five six months?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Five six months, okay, has kicked off and you did
it on this radio show. You kicked off a weight
loss journey and we've seen you go from fat. I
don't like the word fat. I'd say I didn't look
at you as fat. To be fair, I didn't look
at you like that at all.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I did the eyes of medically he was yeah, yeah,
morbidly obese to.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Now do you look unbelievable? You look great?

Speaker 6 (00:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:00):
I was one hundred and seventy seven kilos at the start,
and this morning I waited in one hundred and thirty
three point nine yes, yeah, yeah, forty three and a
half killos, which is amazing and I feel so.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Much better for it.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
And we were looking at photos yesterday and this is
where I go, wow, I actually don't remember you looking
like that, where you were one hundred and seventy seven kilos.

Speaker 5 (01:24):
How do you look at that photo of yourself? Now?
Do you see that you're the same person?

Speaker 7 (01:28):
No, I can tell the difference. And I think I
only realized recently how much I hated myself then, but
didn't think about it. Things like when you walk past
a window or you see your reflection and you go yuck,
I'm disgusting and you try and block it out, or
when you are afraid to sit on a chair, or
when your clothes don't fit and you get angry at yourself.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
The closed thing.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
You have taken great joy in rocking up in a
whole bunch of like different brands, and this was an
old thing that I couldn't have.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Five every day you're wearing something new. Yes, that's fun
for you.

Speaker 7 (01:59):
Yeah, I mean going back down through the sizes in
my wardrobe because I've got them all. I've got the
one ex'es, the two exes, that the seven xes. You know,
they're all there and I've kept them all. And so
going back down sizes in the wardrobe, it's awesome. And
now I fit into brain names, and I can wear normal,
nice clothes, and I can go to a shop and
just fit into anything, and that feels so good. They
call that a non scale victory. Yeah, and that you

(02:21):
just go why was I? Why did I let myself
get so far past that?

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Do you agree not doing it sooner?

Speaker 8 (02:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (02:28):
But also, you know, a journey's a journey, like you
can't I've just got to live what I'm doing now.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Now you're this far down the line, do you look
back at things of when you were a lot heavy
and go far out?

Speaker 5 (02:40):
I missed out on doing that with my kids.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I missed out on heaps of stuff.

Speaker 7 (02:43):
And I realized that at the Royal lad Show, which
was here like what last month.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
So there was a ride that we took my four.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
Year old daughter Sophia on, and I thought, you know
what stuff that I'm going to go on this one
because I stood on the side every single time because
I was like, I know I won't fit in that.
I know that bar won't come down and lock into place.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
It's not a matter if there are rules against it.
You just didn't want the embarrassment.

Speaker 7 (03:08):
Well, no, if the bar doesn't go down, you can't
go on the ride, man, But that's embarrassing.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
So you could go on the ride.

Speaker 7 (03:14):
And I fit on the ride and the bar went
down and I was able to go on a ride
with my kid, and that was that was like a
moment and that it was exciting because we can share
that memory together and talk about it and there's video
footage of it.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
And so I know you guys went to Disneyland. Yeah,
my last year before you started losing weight, and I
know you as being your friend.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
You don't like going on rides. Is that a thing?
Or is that because you're too scared to go on
the rights?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
That's because I felt like I was too big to
go on the rides. I think yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:43):
But the thing at the Roya they'd show that got
me was I went on this ride. And then there
was another mum and her kid who wanted to go
on the ride. And the mom tried to go on
the ride and the bar wouldn't go down because she
was like quite a big person and the bar wouldn't
go down. And then this mum asked Lauren, the mother
of Sophia my baby mama, to ride with her child

(04:05):
while she sat outside at the side of the ride,
watching a stranger ride with her kid, and she was
crying and the kid was crying for the mum, and
they had to stop the ride halfway through so the
kid could get off and go and be with the mum,
and the mom just stood there crying And.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
How do you explain that to your kid?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Exactly? And I just thought that is so sad. And
that's what I used to be.

Speaker 7 (04:29):
I was that person who always missed out and who
had to stand aside and felt like crap.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
And can I ask from your perspective, would you tell
Sophia I can't get on the ride because I'm no.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
No, we don't talk about weight stuff with her.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
No she noticed.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
No.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Isn't that no, not at all.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
I love that kids don't see that. They don't care
what their parents look like or anything. They don't know
that until they're told, oh this is what wait, you
should be.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah. I don't want to have weight conversations with her.
She's four. I want her to.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Enjoy her life and.

Speaker 7 (05:02):
You know, we'll deal with whatever happens later. But yeah,
it just for me being able to get on that
ride and then seeing a mum who I didn't get
on that ride and was really emotional by it. Went,
Oh my god, I'm so glad I've made a change
here and I've done something about this.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Are you proud of yourself?

Speaker 7 (05:15):
Berg, Yeah, I've got a way to go, but I'm
certainly I'm liking myself a lot more now.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
It's important. Yeah, I wonder.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Yeah, and you you are happier.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yes, much more enjoyable person to be around.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
You are.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I can say that we were an absolute nightmare pre
I wonder if there are more people around Adelaide in
a similar boat where you've had a moment that your
weight made you miss out on something and maybe that
snapped you into action, Maybe something you still think of.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
As a parent, that's something like that really touches you.
We'd love to know. Thirteen one, two.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Three Sergo has dropped forty four kilos in the last
few months.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, probably a little bit too fast.

Speaker 7 (05:58):
I just want to point out as well, for people
who are on the journey or they're struggling and they're going,
hang on, ho, have you done it so easily? I
have had assistance. I have been on the jabs, the
fat jabs. So you've got to be honest about that stuff.
I know a lot of people are on them and
are not openly talking about it.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Can you be honest here as well? Has it taken
over your brain? Are you obsessed with losing weight now?

Speaker 9 (06:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (06:17):
But I'd rather be obsessed about losing weight and getting
healthier than obsessed with donuts like I was before.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
What it was that?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:22):
I do love a donut though, all right? On Thurday
one O two three. What was the moment that your
weight made you miss out on something? Is apparent or otherwise?
Edward in Evanston, you were in the same boat as
bird Joe talk us through your story.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Yeah, I think the most good morning gentlemen, how are we?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
And ladies?

Speaker 9 (06:37):
How are we this morning?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
There?

Speaker 10 (06:39):
Very good?

Speaker 6 (06:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (06:41):
The most embarrassing moment in my life was walking off
the ride when they wouldn't make you get on the
ride because you're overweight. And it's quite a very very
sad feeling that you know you're sitting there waiting for
the ride and it doesn't go down as Vergoe said.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
And it's not good.

Speaker 12 (06:57):
I was one undred and fifty kilos and after that
moment I lost fifty five kilos and I've got the
end of ninety five kilos. Oh, just just totally totally.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Changed my life. Son was born, I played from the
sun and I was so much.

Speaker 11 (07:11):
Healthier and better for it. But yeah, it's it's a
very sad moment when that happens. And and the best
moment is when you get to ninety nine on the scales.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
That's that's the that's that's the good bonus of it all.
You get down the two figures.

Speaker 5 (07:25):
How do you? How are you keeping it off? Because
I know it's a struggle.

Speaker 13 (07:30):
To struggle every day, every day to struggle. It's it's
mind over matter, I think too. And then it's hard,
it's hard to describe the feeling of not being able
to eat what you want to eat. And you know,
you still have your bad moments where, like you say,
you go in these donuts and fish and chips and
those sort of things, but you know, and then.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
You feel guilty for it afterwards because you've tried.

Speaker 12 (07:53):
So hard to get down to that weight and the
mind still plays tricks on you and still.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
Walk past the doughnut shop. You've got to have a donut.
But yeah, you paid for it, You definitely paid for it.
So Burgioe, congratulations on.

Speaker 12 (08:06):
Your journey, and you know, I feel for you and
then all the people out there in our situation.

Speaker 7 (08:12):
Yeah, thanks Matte and congratulate your journey. Fifty five kilos
is massive and you're right when you see those donuts, Dan,
they look so good.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Look good.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
It's just one donut, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
It's just one, but then it turns into like ten. No,
it's cool, man, I go for a run after.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Yeah, Sharon and Edwardstown.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
I know this is hard for you to talk about,
and we really appreciate you sharing your story.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
Can you tell us what was your moment.

Speaker 8 (08:35):
Where my granddaughter was born? My kids really didn't miss
out on me being able to have fun with them.
But my granddaughter is now five years old and I've
been struggling for the last five years. But you want
to go and do things and create memories because she's

(08:57):
Although she's five, it's not going to be long before
she's going to turn around and saying, Minnie, I don't
want to do that with your because she's going to
want to go off with their friends and things like that.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
Are you saying you can't do things because of your weight.

Speaker 8 (09:12):
There are a lot of things I can't do because
of my weight and although I am now on a
journey myself and trying to to lose and I mean,
I'm down ten kilos, Sharon, but it's I mean, yes,
it's a it's a forward movement and it's great and

(09:33):
and I celebrate those ten kilos. But as a result
of those ten kilos, there's now more health problems that
have crept in because of it, which then also makes
that hard again because you know, like that's another battle
within itself. But everybody's journey is different. And the thing is,
kids don't remain kids forever.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
So, Sharon, have you had one moment where you've been like, Okay,
this is where I need to switch for better time
between me and my granddaughter.

Speaker 8 (10:04):
Well, I've had lots of those, but one of them
was we we went on a family holiday and like,
there was one ride that I had a little train
in it and we got into this train and I
felt like I was sitting in a tin can. I

(10:25):
felt like that if I moved, I was going to
either break something or hurt myself. The embarrassment was just overwhelming.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
Oh that's so hard. I'm so sorry.

Speaker 8 (10:36):
And then when we went to the show this year,
you know, we went on a ride and I made
sure that I was if the bar didn't come down
over me, that it was going to be a fast
exit so that I didn't embarrass my daughter or my granddaughter.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
As a daughter, I don't think that they would ever
be embarrassed of you at all.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Is that maybe not?

Speaker 8 (10:59):
But it's just these are the emotions that go with
being that bigger person that you know that especially and
you're trying hard and you feel trapped.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Yeah, it's a brilliant carrot fluid to use, Sharon, and
maybe it is to drop ten.

Speaker 8 (11:17):
Yeah exactly, you know. And the thing is, I won't
give up, you know, like I'm not a quitter. But
the thing is, you know, like I also want people
out there to know that no matter how hard it is,
you can keep moving forward. You can keep on that
that that journey, that path that you know, this not
just inspiration in children, there's inspiration in yourself and you've

(11:39):
just got to dig deep.

Speaker 7 (11:40):
You're going to keep going and the results it is
so worth it when you get to that other side
and you see the payoff and you fit into the
clothes and you don't have to worry about breaking the
chair and all those.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Payoffs are so worth it. Just push, just keep going.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
And Sharon on the Mad Mouse.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
You got this, Sharon, We're all behind you. Okay, all right,
all right.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
We have just been talking to Burjoe in the studio
about his weight loss journey. He's lost so much weight
on Munjaro for what six months now, And you just
are a different person.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
Birds.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
You're so happy and you're so confident within yourself, which
is really nice to see.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I'll point out on his behalf as well, he is
on Manjarra, but he's also eating healthier.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Yeah, we're trying to do the right things. Were hitting
the gym.

Speaker 7 (12:21):
You've got to do make the lifestyle changes as well
to offset the cost of five hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Make it worth it.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Danielle in Woodside, Dannielle, can you please tell us your
story that starts with a moment that made you want
to lose some weight?

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Triggering money?

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (12:36):
Absolutely. Triggering moment to me was when either was either
my husband or my mum said can I take a
photo of you of a newborn? And I said no,
I said, I said, I thought to myself, like I
hated myself so much at that point, and yeah, okay,
you've been pregnant and you've got everything that goes with it.
But I've got three photos of me with my newborn

(12:56):
kids and my fourth child. I don't have one because
I was like, no, I'm not doing it. I don't
want to see a photo of myself. And it was
at that point that I went, life has to change.
So literally, within two weeks, I chose not to feed him.
I went straight to the doctor and I said, right,
let's start this, let's get this going. And I spent

(13:17):
two years hard slog lost fifty kilos.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
Oh my god.

Speaker 10 (13:22):
And then when this isn't just a quick fix, I
went the whole complete lifestyle change, the diet change. I
spent the time learning how to eat correctly. And now
I'm seven months, eight nearly eight months post been on anything.
I have kept my weight off, I know exactly how
to eat, I am active, I am present from my kids,

(13:46):
and it's massive, it's huge, it's a complete I'm a
completely different person.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Wait at all. Yeah, so you came off Manjara and
have kept the weight off.

Speaker 7 (13:57):
Because a lot of people on these drugs know that
that is the challenge when you come off these things
and the food noise returns and the appetite returns. You're like,
oh my god, how am I going to do this?
But you've done it.

Speaker 10 (14:07):
Yes. Absolutely. I went to eating every two hours rule,
whether it was something small, and I still treat myself
like one of those two hour things is definitely a tim.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Tam and I got to do that.

Speaker 10 (14:18):
Yeah, And that's the thing. The thing is, you have
to learn how to retrain your brain and then once
you've done, it's it's second nature.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Now do you wish you could go back in time though,
and have taken those photos with your fourth child?

Speaker 10 (14:32):
One hundred percent? Yeah, one hundred percent. And he is
the most bubbly, outgoing child. And I've just completed a
school project with my second daughter and I had to
put newborn photos in and I know that project's going
to come around with him and I don't have those photos.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
Oh he saved you, regret.

Speaker 7 (14:53):
Just be happy with where you're at. You are an
inspirations so many people. Good job, Danielle, thank you, thank
you so much.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Okay, for those of you who don't know, my best
friend that I talk about on the show all the time,
my other Adelady Lauren is also the mother to Burgo's child, Sofia,
So we're all intertwined in this beautiful little family here.
And she wanted to jump on the phone because obviously
you guys live together, and she's seen this big journey.
She's also on her own weight loss journey. She looks
freaking amazing.

Speaker 9 (15:21):
Oh, guys, I feel really emotional listening to Danny l
that was a lot. It's just a lot sometimes. Oh,
so don't you have just worked so hard to get
to this point. And I know that you said no
to doing so many things across the time we've known
each other and been together and had Sophia. Like we

(15:44):
went to Disneyland and he didn't go on any rides
because he'd say, oh, I don't like rides. And I
know that that was lying because he knew that he
wouldn't fit in the riots. Like when you're bigger, you
learn to kind of lie. You get used to lying.
Like I'll say, oh, I'm not going on the helicopter.
I'm not feeling on the helicopter. It's not because I'm
scared of helicopters, like I say to you, Haley, It's

(16:04):
because I'm scared they're going to weigh me before. Like
when you're bigger, you just everything you have to think
about so much more. And I don't know why I'm
feeling so emotional, but it's just some days a lot
I'm going to think about self and Burdero. I'm so
proud of what you've done for our daughter. You've done
this for her because I was really worried about you.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Oh was, and you too.

Speaker 9 (16:28):
You.

Speaker 7 (16:28):
I couldn't have done it without you. I genuinely couldn't
have done it without you, because you are the one
holding it down at home and you are the one
like who's cooking healthy dinners, and you're on this journey
with me and we're keeping each other accountable. And I'm
so grateful for you, and I'm so proud of you
and your twenty kilo loss.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
And yeah, yeah it's a lot.

Speaker 9 (16:49):
But I just thought I kid McDonald's for breakfast.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
I don't say that, let's have.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Done that art no cheese on the McMuffin.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
At least, can I say?

Speaker 3 (17:00):
I've known both of you forever, and I both I've
seen both of you try to do this on your own,
and I think the powerful thing that you guys have
done is that you are doing it together and you
do go let's go for a walk together, let's how
much weight have you lost?

Speaker 5 (17:11):
And you're encouraging each other.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
So maybe if you're listening to this, maybe you need
that partner in crime to go with you on this
journey because I think.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
That's the thing that's working for you.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Guys.

Speaker 9 (17:21):
I think that completely changes it. Like having encouragement, whether
it's a friend, whether it's a partner, whether it's someone
at work. Have you drunk your water? How are you feeling?
Because some days it's really hard and then other days
you coast through it. But if you've got that person
there that's kind of backing you up and feeling the same,
you don't feel alone. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
I don't want to put more work on his plate,
but if you are one of those people, slide into
Burgo's DMS.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
He loves talking about weight loss with people.

Speaker 8 (17:44):
Oh, he'll love that.

Speaker 9 (17:46):
He'll start at any opportunity. I'm like, come on, mate,
just get the coffee and go.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:51):
Burjo live on Instagram, by the way, if you want
to follow and reach out. No, I do love having
a chat about that. Lauren, Thank you. I'm proud of you.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Love you and love you guys, Love you, Loszie.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Thanks
