Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jonesy and Amanda jam Nation.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
The Jonesy de Matter around the Tub for the pub Test.
A South Australian TikTok creator is sparking a controversial debate
online with her plea to not lower the legal age
for getting tattoos, but to raise them.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
She said she got tattoos at nineteen as a way
of coping. She said that she was having mood swings
and she doesn't now like her heavily interppearance. So she's
now in her late twenties and it's trying to have
them more removed. We know from insurance purposes you have
to be twenty five before your brain is considered fully formed.
At the moment it is eighteen. She's hoping that. She

(00:39):
says that the legal age forgetting a tattoo should be
twenty one, so at least you've slightly thought about it
a bit more.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
There is some merit in that I almost got a
tattoo at eighteen. I was ready to go, or sitting
in the parlor having a little design, ready to go,
and the guy said, that's all well and good mate.
That's a great, great tattoo you've drawn there, But I
can't fit you in today, I can't fit you in
for the next three weeks. Come back there, make.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
An appointment by then you change your mind.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Then I lost interest.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Friend of mine says to her children, that's what your
pencil case is for. Just draw on your pencil case
when they're at school, everyone draws their tattoos. You think,
is that how you want to be defined when you're forty?
Do you know that at eighteen, raising the tattoo legal
age does it pass the pub test?

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I don't know about this. I mean, I'm not into tattoos,
but if you raise the age, you've got to have
a lot of kids with a lot of backyard tattoos
that can be open to infections and really bad artwork.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
Yes, it does pass pub test. It raised up to
twenty one when they're a bit more mature. And my
daughter got hers done when she was young, and she
looks ridiculous now and she regrets.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I firmly believe in raising this because once you make
these marks on your body, you stuck with them for life,
and life shouldn't be full of regret. So yeah, I
just I firmly agree with that one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Not I think it should stay at eighteen.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
For sure.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
I just think there's enough nanny state stuff going on in.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
This country as it is. Let the kids do what
they want to do. They can drink at eighteen, they
can get a chattered eighteen. It really doesn't make a
difference to it.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
No regrets or no regrets,
