Speaker 3 (00:19):
Cutting room man has cutting room for.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Everybody.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
It's time for Chelsea and a man just cut loom
Forget everybody, it's time for I'm Chelsea and the man
just cutting the room for.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
It's not cutting room for on the cutting room floor today.
You've heard of job hopping, haven't you.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
It's job hopping, which is what everyone seemed to be
doing after COVID. They thought life's too short, and they'd
staying a job a very short period of time and
just flop around all over the place, job to job
to job.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, you're never satisfied. I when I first started in radio,
I didn't job hop as much as climb the ladder.
What would happen if someone would approach me from another
radio station?

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Why what's this good to do with anything?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's just a backdoor brag.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Of course, it's a front door brat.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Good I am so all made from radio station exit
ring and say we need you over here, bro. And
I'd be there for about two years and I buger off.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
And I learned to the phone, and it'd be the
next big station. Wait for me.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Wow. So you you you're you're familiar with my journey.
You know about my journey. So anyway, there's that. The
new one to enter the lexicon is job hugging, and
it's a grim new work trend.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Apparently, what's the new work trend? Job hogging?

Speaker 1 (01:53):
What is it?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Job hunting is the job?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
That's how you got the job here.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
I'd get a phone call, so we need to come
and hunt people in our office. And that's how my
career took off.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Then your phone go quiet. No, job hugging, as opposed
to job hopping or humping, is basically the opposite of that.
Job hugging is where an employee stays in a role
even that they're unhappy or find the job unfulfilling. The
people remain in their jobs because they feel, you know,
it's not so bad. I can live with this.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Is this because of hard financial times?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Cause he lives, because he lives those things. But also
it's not good for the company. You can't sack anyone
these days. It's so hard to sack someone, so they
can they just breeze along. They just breeze along and
just and phone it in and you're not getting the
quality out of that employee.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
So what you might gain in stability and longevity, you
lose in quality exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
And so clearly you've been job hugging for some years,
haven't you. You not enough job humping, just job hugging, Abby,
So you're just all about a hug the series.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
I'm dreaming of you getting yourn ex phone call and
someone luring you a way to go and work in
community radio.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Why why I.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Can't go backwards. I'm like the emu and the kangaroo
on our coat of arms. I only go forward.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
They're both delicious.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So and there's money Bags FM rings up and says
we want you to come over to our station, right, Well,
then there's no money Bags FM left anymore. They're all
gone broke and we're at the top of our game.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
So it sounds to me the way you're describing yourself
as your job hocking.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Maybe I have jobhking because I'm at the top of
the game. I can't go backwards.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
We can't sack you, and I found that out a
couple of times during the year.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
You're always going to eight levels of management. I car
to bide him. Meanwhile, you go for a bit of
job humping.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Well, I'm glad we've cleared that up. Good, that's what
she said. Okay, kids, that's it.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
To come back to ma

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Room.
