Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda gem Nation. As I said earlier, we all
know about what we should all know about the story
of the cheating scandal in the world of chess. One
of the competitors was accused of cheating by putting some
electro balls up his bottom that were controlled remotely by
someone else, and somehow that gave him the impetus as
to where to move the various chess pieces.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
But he didn't take bad You what, Gavin, you're on
the bus. You've been playing for ten hours. It's a
slow old game.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
But what about a new cheating scandal that's happened. In
the world of stone skimming. This is a hugely competitive competition.
This is held in Scotland. More than twenty more than
two two hundred people compete from twenty seven countries in Scotland.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Thanks to the island's slate mining past, it has the
perfect arena, a flooded quarry and an abundance of skimming stves.
Competitors can only use naturally formed skimmers, but this year
they were reports of tumpering.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Let me tell you more so.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Normally what happens is entrants choose their own stones and
judges use a measuring device that's known as quote the
ring of Truth to ensure that the stones aren't bigger
than three inches in diameter. However, some were found to
be suspiciously circular in shape, and the organizers said that

(01:33):
the judges had heard rumors and murmurings of some nefarious deeds.
So what it happened is that they were artificially shaping them.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
They didn't just take the god given shape from those.
That's what you're supposed to do from the side, that's right.
But apparently they get up to like eighty eight skips.
Eighty eight. Yeah, that's a lot. That is a lot.
That's Sporting story number one, Sporting story number two. The world. Mcelrory.
He's a golfer, yes, but you see one of the

(02:03):
is he very good. I don't know if he's number one,
but he's up there.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
He during the World Tour Championship doesn't play chess. During
the World Tour Championship, Tiger Woods had be into that
he shot a path three on the thirteenth hole and
it unexpectedly landed well somewhere unusual.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
He's kind of.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
The incident occurred when he was making his way to
the green and the ball that he hit lodged in
the lap, in the grain, in the lap of a
female spectator.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
She was sitting down enjoying.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
The landed right in her lap, so the match referee
was called out and McElroy was given a drop, which
he wisely existed. When you see the footage, it's quite funny.
He pretends if he's going to hit it from.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Her lap, they all chose not to. She's smiling, she's
enjoying the spectacle. The baseball. Karen didn't run in and
said that's my ball, and that's my sporting round.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
