Speaker 2 (00:33):
On the cutting room floor Today, let's talk about your
favorite subject, Sydney Sweeney.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Hang on a sec. Are we in opposite world? This
is your favorite subject? I like Sidney Sweeney. I know
you do. And what do you want to talk to
her about?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I like her because it sort of stirs you up
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Doesn't you know?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Can I just say this? She doesn't stir me up?
Why would she? She's been in some shows I've absolutely loved.
She was in White Lotus I thought was brilliant. She
was in the Rolling Stone That's where we first she No,
she'd been in White Lotus before that.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
At the same time, was it Euphoria?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
What show was she in? I didn't see the other
show she was on, but you should go back in six.
I think she sits in a hot tub?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Does she really?
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:11):
But I don't get stirred up. What stirs me up
is watching you be perfect.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
She's a safe She's a safe target because she was
in the Rolling Stones film clip and the Rolling Stones
are considerably older than me. On her the billboards having
a good old look on billboards, having a good old geeze.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
They were not anyway. I like her the cut of
a jib, of course you do.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I like the cut of a jib. And of course
she's been in a movie lately called Christie, which has
had a dismal box office started only made one point
three million dollars this opening weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
One point three million.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Well, that's that's nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
That's nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I also saw the film that she made in Australia
with Glenn Powell.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
I enjoyed it. It's a romantic comedy and I liked it.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
And that was before the controversy of that American jeans.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Ad that she did.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Let me just say this for you, who claims to
be a big fan. You haven't seen a single thing
she's been in.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I like it because she looks good braless dress. What
you can't say that any of you have said it?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
You what do you mean you can't say? This is
a podcast, Brendan. You say what you like and you have.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
I'm like, oh, I can't say anything. You say everything.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
It's no different to you when you say, mister Darcy
coming out of the pond.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah, I know that's true. It's the same stuff that
is true. But why are you wanting to talk about
her today?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Because there's a bit of controversy about the ad that
she did, the American Genes commercial and it had her
in these genes and it said Sidney Sweeney's got great genes, and.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
It was seen by some I didn't necessarily see it
like this as sort of playing on eugenics, white supremacy
kind of yeah, hitlersh kind of things.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Are we drawing a long bow with that?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Though?
Speaker 2 (02:54):
This woman I don't know who this woman is because
she's a terrible interviewer. She stumbles onto this subject with
Sidney Sweeney and ham fistedly gets through the topic.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
We're sort of talking around this American Eagle ad right now,
and I mean, we should just talk about it. So
are you surprised by the reaction.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
I did a gene ad. I mean the reaction definitely
was a surprise, but.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It was I love genes, She loves genes. This lady
pushed her further.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Though, Wait, people shouldn't joke about genetic superiority like that
was kind of like the criticism broadly speaking, And since
you were talking about this. I just wanted to give
you an opportunity to talk about that specifically. I think
that when I have an issue, though, I want to
speak about people here. Huh.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Could that interview be any more vacuous? That's terrible.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
What's interesting the thing is there's two sides to this.
I'm guessing is that she was given a chance to
say there was this backlash. You may not have understood it,
but would you like to comment on it and say, well,
I'm appalled by what they say they think I've said,
but she's chosen not to. On the other hand, should
she apologize for something she didn't intend at all, because
our society these days is filled with Well, that wasn't
(04:16):
my intention, but now I have to say sorry.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
You read it as.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
That you, like me, are white, and like I come
from a long list of whities.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I don't feel superior.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I don't you know. Does that mean I'm white privileged?
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Your gene commercial was terrible? What about my cutoffs? But
Daisy Dukes
