No doubt you would have seen the footage of that
man getting stuck trying to drive down the Spanish steps
in Rome.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
An eighty year old man drove his car down the.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Spanish steps and saves time if it.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Was at night.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
And they said he was following the GPS and he's
gone boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom, like
he's in the Italian Job, but without any gold bars
in the back of Michael Kaine or anyone else in
that movie. He's just lost. He's an old, old man.
They tested him for alcohol. It was negative to that
and he just said, I was following.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
My GPS, and I don't think people should mock him.
I looked at that and thought, that's an easy way
down the stairs. It's easier on your joints to drive
rather than walk.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Right. I looked at that and I said, is Amanda
over in Italy at the moment? Did I know she's
in Rome?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Did you mention that.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
This is something you would do I've seen you drive, and.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
I'm a good driver.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
You are a great driver.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
There's been a couple of instances annoying when you've been
annoyingly when you've been in the car or in the
bike in front of my car. Remember that time where
you said follow me and you took a corner in
a carst parking station. Well, you said follow me, So
I followed your line of direction. Yes, And I ended
(01:48):
up on top of a concrete on the medium bollard
kind of area with my concrete wheels teetering front of
the back.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah, so you managed to I don't know how you
did it.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
I'm around myself and your back wheel was off the ground.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
And then you put the window because you weren't going
anywhere because the back wheel was spinning in the air.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
And then you yield at me for.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
Some reason because you said follow me.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, I didn't say follow me.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
You said follow me. And then you swung very tightly
around the court.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
On a matterbike with two wheels. You have four wheels.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
You just have said follow me exactly when.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
I said follow me. I didn't say get your car
up on two wheels like me.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
But and then you yelled at me remember that time
I had to go and find a brick to put
under your wheel so we can get you off the
concrete divider.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Do you remember that time when I said, can you
there was a workman's truck in the car park at work,
and I said, can you help me negotiate around this?
And I said to you, am I going to make this?
And you said yes. You claimed afterwards that I said,
am I going to hit this? Which I hadn't, and
you'd said yes. I said, am I going to make this?
And you said yes? So I backed into him, and
(02:54):
you're standing there watching me back into it.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
And then you yelled at me yes, because poor the
fuddle tradesman, He's just innocently going about his business.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
And one he why I'm backing into him, and I'm
saying he told me to, And.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
He looked at you like you were an idiot, and
I said, made, I'm.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Sorry you had told you you had said anyway, what
about that other time?
Speaker 4 (03:13):
You weren't there at least for this one?
Speaker 1 (03:15):
And I can almost laugh about it now, but I
was in tears at the time. I'd been asked to
launch a new magazine at the back of Fox Studios
and in Sydney, and to get there was a whole
little back streets and little not back streets, back lane.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, Fox Studios blocks and.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
There's a big public area out the front, and then
there's back blocks out the back.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
When I came to leave, I.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Thought, i'll get out early before all the people who
are at this event are leaving.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
I'll do my speech and then i'll leave.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Well, I got into my car and I couldn't find
my way out, and so I saw a light and thought,
there's a road, I'm going there.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
It was the.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Pedestrian mall between the cinema and the restaurants, and as
I found myself driving down it, I had to ask
people to get out of the way who were lining
up to buy sushi and subway and subway. And then
the people who'd been in that event with me were
walking beside my car.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, so there's that lady that was just talking at
the leg ten and now she's driving down the pedestrian mall.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I was like, mister magoo. And then I came to
the end of the pedestrian We'll try to look like
this is exactly what I need to be doing, And
there was I had to do like a million point turn,
and I couldn't do.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
It because you couldn't get past the ball.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
And finally I pressed the buzzer of an intercom and
I said, I'm having a bit of trouble and they said, yes,
we know. They'd watched the whole thing and through the
security cameras. I was in tears. I felt like abandoning
my car, getting a cab home and moving to Vietnam.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
But nonetheless, you found fame on on Fox's Wild as Drivers.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
It's not a bad thing, a bad thing, no.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
So at that time I saw you driving at the
top of the Harbor Bridge Road, at.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
The very top. Okay, kids, that's it for today. Come
back tomorrow for more. Josie and Aman, that's cut the
room for it.
