Speaker 1 (01:16):
Through, I'll do me well. This is some research that
has come from the Netherlands. The researchers asked five hundred
adults at a music festival to take part in a study.
So the festival goers who wanted to participate did exactly
what you said about that old Air Reguard commercial. They
put their arm into a box of mosquitoes. But what
happened was that there was some mesh so that they

(01:39):
could see who the mosquitoes were attracted to, but they
couldn't be bitten. So they weren't going to get Denny
fever or.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Anything, because I'll get them landing on me, but they
don't chomp in, or.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Maybe they chomp in, but you don't get a big
reaction to it, So you wouldn't know. My son if
he gets bitten by mosquito, gets a big red weld, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Right, because he's got But I'm allergic. I get like allergies,
hay fever, that's my that's my thing.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Fives.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I do get hives that I'm stressed.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
You have a very weird reaction withever you have hives.
I say, wow, have you got hives? You said, don't
mention it.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, your body talks. I took myself out of hives.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Remember that time you got hives. Let's look back at
that moment.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Do you remember you bought sushi from a railway station
a long way from the ocean.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, train station sushi, and I had a raging hangover,
and I think.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
That was next minute. I remember seeing even your wrists
were all covered in a terrible Yeah, don't even mention
even talk about it.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
How is my Wolverine powers?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Whenever I injure myself, when I do it quite regularly,
I always say, wolverine powers, just.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Fix this, and it seems to work.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
All those claws come out.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I just like it.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
I can imagine my I visualize this is gonna sound weird.
I visualized my body inside just repairing itself.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Okay, does sound weird.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I did a story one speaking of you know, diseases
you can get from mosquitoes, crouching down next to a
swampy pond in Malaysia, saying, this is the epicenter of
dingy fever.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
And I didn't even have air regard on. But let
me tell you about this stuff.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
If you do for TV in my ignorance, what about it?
The other times you crouched down and got some sort
of disease and you're miles away from any mosquitoes.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I once did a story in the middle of the Amazon,
where these women were packaging up aphrodisiacs into pill containers.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
By what sort of afrodisiacs.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Well, we weren't doing a story on that.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
We were looking at how most of the medicines in
your medicine cabinet have come originally from plants, yep, and
that by knocking down the Amazon, we're losing all access.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
That was the subject of that movie.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Medicine Man was Sean Connery and who was the female
leab was at meg Ryan?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Were there afridisiac in it?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
So he was, and he discovered the cure for cancer,
and it's in the Amazon jungle. Then the white man's
coming along, chopping down the trees to make McDonald's burgers.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Always that's right.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And that's the That was the whole premise of that movie.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I was going to see it this weekend. Thanks, But
let me get back to this study. In the Netherlands,
so five hundred adults at a music festival stuck their
hands in this mosquito box. What they did discovered, well,
this is the first bit. Participants who had consumed beer
and other alcohol were one point three times more likely
to attract mosquitoes than those that didn't. So they saw
that people who drank beer. This is the this is

(04:21):
what they're studying the end show. This is what mosquitoes
loved most, People who drank beer, people who didn't wash,
people who shared a bed, and people who avoided sunscreen.
It sounds like every single person who's ever gone to
a music festival, so mosquitoes love it.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
I'll just let some mosquitoes into the room well to
see they're all going to you.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
That's amusing, dread.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
They'll be wearing a bead of mosquitoes.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Thank you, officer. Stop that noise. It triggers your emotions
like roxett O fears.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
That's it for today, Come back to marrow more.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
