Speaker 1 (00:10):
My Heart podcasts here, more Gold one on one point
seven podcasts.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Playlists and listen live on the free iHeart app. Yeah, it's.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
On the cutting room floor. There's been a lot of
controversy in AFL.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Recently.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
We had the AFL w Ladies with their controversial guernseys.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
This is the jerseys. I'm not going to say gernsey.
Can I say jersey? This is the jerseys for the
Indigenous round. And when you saw them, I'm sure just
on display, they would have looked fantastic. There was an
orange semi circle at the base of the shirt on
the back with a tree growing. But when everyone's wearing it,
it looks like they've.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
All got Look so the dacks have come down.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
The dacks have come down like they've got Ricky Plumber's cleavage.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah. There's also the Dave Hughes controversy.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Paul Hughsey was playing an AFL Legends game and got
culeaned up, punctured his lung, broke three ribs.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
It's that controversial, just bad luck. I don't think it's controversy.
I think it's just one of those terrible things.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, and now Snoop Dog everyone's been talking about Snoop
Dogg performing at the AFL Grand Final.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Whether or not he's a good fit. I think he's fine.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
He's gonna put eyes on the game, certainly, that was
the discussion.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And then just pretty much the same week that the
AFL have had a big internal discussion about homophobic language
being used on the field and really coming out strong
to try and stamp that out. That same week, as
we know, Snoop Dogg is interviewed on a podcast and
he said he went to see a film with his
grandson where there were there was a homosexual couple and
he said, how am I supposed to explain this? This

(01:50):
isn't what I've signed up for a bit of a
rant and people are going, are you a good fit
for this? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Well, you know what I feel Snoop Dogg's come out.
I don't think he's homophobic in any sense.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I think he might be a little old school honestly.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
The same age as me. So where of that era?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
What era most a lot of.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
People are of like when we were kids.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Of course, and that's what the great.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Thought that homosexually homosexuality was bad.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yes, and well we all have I'm not saying it
is bad. No, but we've all had to overcome up.
We learned in our.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Early years, of course.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
And then in Snoops defense, he didn't go on with
a big rand about homosexuals.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
What he said.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
He was caught off guard and had no answer for
his grandson. They're watching the show inside the movie theater,
watching the bars light you thing, yeah, and the kid says,
why are those two guys together? And he goes and
he was this is what he says. He said he
was blindsided.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
That's not what he said in that initial podcast. I'm
pretty sure in that initial podcast he said, why do
I have to put up with that in the film
when I've taken my grandson to see a film. He
was a bit more derogatory than his so called apology.
He's had an explanation rather than apology, because what's he
gone on to say?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Now, He's well, he's done the greatest thing in the
world to get yourself out of trouble.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I've noticed this is a.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Really anything you do wrong you can get out by
saying these simple words.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Teach me how to learn. I am not perfect.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
And he said, I've got a lot of gay friends
and they sent me a lot of laughs.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yea, but teach me how to learn. I'm not perfect.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
That's the thing. That's where you say I need to
do better.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah yeah, and people instantly go, snoop, You're right, that's good.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
You know you could do anything, and I'll teach me
how to learn. You know, I want to do better,
and people yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Well, at some point you can't defend yourself. You have
to lie. In addition, at the fire roll over you.
You have to let the fire of opinion roll over you.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Do you think do you think they'll cancel snoop?

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Depends if Barnesy is free.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Barnsy could do it.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Barns He's already always ready to go in case of
situation break glass unless Barnsy does something controversial.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
No, I think Barns would be ready to go, which
you can't have Barnsy every time.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
No, no, no, but snoop, though they would have played
some sort of deposit.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Surely there'd be a deposit.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Would there be clauses in the deposit if he says
something inappropriate?

Speaker 2 (04:07):
And again rapper and like with the deposit where they
pay with the check. You know, is that mister dog
dogg or dawg. You know that there's a whole snoop.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Your real first name.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
What's actually Calvin Brotus? Okay, whatever, Well that's his name.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
That's what they have crisis managers on speed dial. I've
got one. Have you got one?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
No?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I don't really have one, but people do media crisis managers.
I met someone whose husband does that, and all her
friends phone her when she's in crisis. Your husband on
what do I do? And pretty much the advice is
lie down, let the fire all over you and say
I promised to learn and do better.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Until something else controversial happens. Case in point, remember we
had Doc Nissan for our Backyard Jam series.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
He was the pioneer of that as.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
It came to pass, and luckily for us, it was
before social media.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
But Doc came along.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
A bit inebriated, tongue patched. The mom of the house
said inappropriate things to the daughter. I told the son
to f off picked the fight with dad. Dad was
going to call the police, and I said, well it
is he is a rock star and.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
You've had a rock blessing. Why these things have happened.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
So the next day I get a call from the
management of the radio station, what the happened with Doc
Nison at Heathcoat yesterday last night?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And I explained, the guy wants to call.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
The cops, he wants to go to the newspaper.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
And oh god on.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
So then he hung up, and then about forty minutes
later it calls back. Everything's okay, we've just found Todd
mckennie in a park with no pants on.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Todd took one for the team because Todd at.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
The time was working a mix FM, which was part
of our network, and that's kiss.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
These days, he could say he didn't have his pants
on because he was lying down in the fire.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Roll over him. That's what you do. Just let the
fire roll over here. That's all you gotta do. Okay, mother,
that's it for the day.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Come back tomorrow for more of Chmsey and Amantha's Cutting
