Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jersey and Amanda jam Nation. You were at the ABC
Upfronts last night, yes, oh, yesterday, that's right. So I've
been filming a couple of shows for the ABC and
they were announced yesterday. One of them is called Role
of a Lifetime and it's a parenting show that I'm hosting.
Kate Richie is involved and a swathe of experts. But
(00:22):
what's great about this show is that this is where
the first people now or the first generation, were trying
to keep their children safe in two realms, in the
real world and in the online world. And how terrifying
that is for young men. What imagery of masculinity are
they getting all the Andrew Tates, etc. What are girls
getting in their heads about body image, about tradwives, about anything?
(00:45):
And parents feel helpless to help their kids. So this
isn't sort of that usual, well dure kind of parenting advice.
This is cutting edge advice from people who are kids themselves,
from parents, from experts, the latest psychology technology. You will
learn so much from this show, and it's funny and
charming as well. And also I've been filming another show
(01:07):
called The Piano, and this show is very very close
to my heart. So what happens. We put out a
call to like whether it's a refugee center, old people's
home schools, asking people to come and film a documentary
just talking about their love of the piano and their
connection to the piano. So we put pianos in, there's
a railway station, a shopping center. We filmed in various
(01:28):
locations and seventy five people came down to play the
piano and to tell their story. And what they didn't
know was that Andrea Lamb, who's Australia is leading classical pianist,
and Harry Connick Junior were just sitting behind a little
door nearby watching them perform. This isn't a competition, there's
no chairs turning, there's no judgment. But what they did
(01:50):
was they found someone's story that really spoke to them.
And in each episode they asked someone if they'd like
to be part of a concert, performing on stage with
them at the end, and we filmed that concert not
so long ago. You came along to that, Brendan, and
it's so moving these people's stories. You scratch the surface,
and people's stories are uplifting and sad and wonderful, and
(02:13):
people's connection to music is quite extraordinary. I bored my
eyes out filming this and it's heartwarming and lovely and
I can't wait for you to see it next year.
I'm just happy that we can talk about it. I've
been wanting to blab it for ages. Yes, that's great,
and you're going to be so great. You are so
good on TV. Oh this show, thank you. This isn't
about me, I'm the host of it, but the people
(02:34):
we met and their stories will really stick with you.
I think this is going to be a fantastic show.
It's about me and you and shoring up our future
on TV. Me and the ape. You can't even play
the piano. I can do that thing with my fist
and two fingers. Yeah,
