Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jersey and Amanda jam Nason John Farnham's memoir The Voice
Drops Today.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
The Voice inside it's called it drops on Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Not today. Have we got a sneak preview?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
This is we have a sneak preview. So this is
He's a very private man, but he's written about all
kinds of things in this book about his cancer diagnosis
is surgery. He talks about the earliers in his career
where his manager controlled him with drugs. Well, his first manager,
he'd give him amphetamines to keep him working at night

(00:33):
and sleeping pills in his morning coffee to knock him
out cold. So he's been very open and very honest
about so many things in his life. So as well
as the book, there's also an audio book released at
the same time that John has narrated post surgery in
his own voice. Here now is an exclusive snippet from
that book.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
When I think back on my childhood, most of my
elly memories are filled with music. My dad was very musical.
He would wishle or seeing cons around the house, reading
the fafer, whatever he was doing music radio, that's from him.
It's the same with me. I love to whistle well,
I can't now because of all the surgery I had

(01:11):
on my mouth. But when I could, I whistled constantly.
I was the same as a kid. I'd whistle, hum
or sing wherever I went, totally unawares, completely in my
own world. One of my teachers obviously got sick of it,
because one day she stopped in the middle of class
and said, right, that's it, I've had enough for that.
Stick your it out of the window and sing. He's

(01:34):
got the whole world in his hands. So I did
stuck my head out of the window and broke in
the song, singing at the top of my voice. He goes, oh, world, Sorry,
I guess I can't blame that teacher.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
It's interesting, isn't it hearing his voice like Adam. What
a challenge for him, I imagine, physically to read it,
but also emotionally, to very private man to lay his
life bare like that. So the book is called John
Are the Voice Inside, and the audiobook is released at
the same time on Wednesday, the thirtieth of October.
