Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jersey and Amanda.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Jam Ny the Jersey Demand of Arms. So the pub test.
If guests bring a bottle of wine to a dinner party,
do you have to open it?

Speaker 3 (00:10):
The etiquette from Beaumont Etiquette says, no, you don't. As
the host, if you're given the wine, it's up to
you whether.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
You do you open it or not.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
There's some big questions around this, big big questions. If
you take a bottle of wine to the dinner party
and the host puts it away and you have to
drink their stuff, that would be annoying. But as a host,
what if you'd planned all the wines to go with
the food. Someone brings a bottle of wine and go,
oh great, now I've got to put this on the table.
Where where does the etiquette line? How do you feel

(00:38):
about it?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
A lot of people will come around and they'll bring wine,
and I'm always appreciate of that. I do like when
people bring beer around. That's always great.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
If they bring beer that you don't like, like a
Kraft beer.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I like all beer. Let's just face it. I like
all beer. I got to tell you that some of
those crafty, fruity beers that the kids seem to like
these days. I'm not such a fan of But someone
comes around with a cart and the Melbourne beetle, which
has happened one time, or a cut and of rest
is I went, oh, hang on, hang on.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Let me just say, you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Understand, you get me. I love this stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
But to take beer an event like that, you're sounding
you're describing more of a barbecue than a dinner party.
A dinner party, there's a few bottles on the table.
It's not a big open slaver. So I think there's
a different style of etiquette to this. So let's see
what you think. Opening guest wine at a dinner party.
Is it past the pub test?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Absolutely, as long as the best wine's being drunk and
your glass is never empty.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
I definitely think you need to open the.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Bottle of wine because my father in law, if you
don't open it, he takes it back with him.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
So definitely open it up when he comes.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Absolutely. They bring a good bottle of wine and you
like it, great, open up, drink it. That keeps them happy.
Bring a bad buttle of wine and you don't like it,
accidentally drop it on the way to the table. It
keeps everyone happy.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
So if you're Mutho in a party, gay spring a
bottle of wine and they're actually gifing it to you.
So therefore, what's the difference to put it by the
one later on and opening it when they're not there?
So what I open it while they're there for sharing,
charring and enjoy tonight.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
It most certainly does.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Mate. If my mate is bringing me over a bowl
of wine and drink, will you are cracking that bad boy?

Speaker 6 (02:11):
Open for sure passes the pub test. It absolutely does
not pass the pub test if you don't get to
drink your decent wine. And it's even worse if someone
gives you their awful wine and then puts your wine
away and you don't see it for the rest of
the name.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
Not too fussed about wine, but have to agree with
Jonesy that Melbourn bitter is the best fear of ever.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Should be cheaper, should be more of it floating around.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
It's true when you vote for me as Prime Minister.
Funnily enough, in Melbourne they don't.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Like it though, well they're bitter. What's with that? I know?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
When you come around with a bottle of gentlemen Jack
and you just throw the lid off at the front
door and say we're not going anywhere till this is done.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
I don't even know what you're talking about. English.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
You know, what about when my son went to our
place on the south coast with his mates and he
took down was it a fifty six liter key, five of.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Them and they drank it in two days. And that's
slowing down. That's not talking about the cleaning bill afterwards,
