Speaker 2 (00:02):
Nation the Jonesy demand of arms for the pub test today.
YouTube does it passed the pub test banning YouTube for
under sixteens. From the get go, I thought, oh, yeah,
fair enough. You don't want little kids looking at isis
beheadings and all that sort of stuff. Lo than you
see that much on YouTube, but there is an algorithm.
But then I was just doing a little bit of
scrolling last night, people saying how ridiculous the government should
(00:24):
be letting parents decide they will not stop until they
get total control of the people. And because I don't
have kids of that age anymore.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
But what we're hearing, I know there is a big
social media band for under sixteen, but YouTube is also instructional.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Is that a word? Yep?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
And an educational digital jen who works with us told
us this earlier.
Speaker 5 (00:46):
YouTube is one of the reasons why I'm in this job.
I learned how to video edit on YouTube when I
was like twelve thirteen, and I used to upload like
fan videos for different TV shows and jabs before I
was sixteen, so you know, it was a major part
of my early adolescent.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
How do you feel the YouTube band for under sixteens.
Is it passed the pub test?
Speaker 4 (01:09):
No, it doesn't pass the pub test. What we've got
to do is spend time with our kids and play
sports with them. Take them to tennis, take them to golf,
take them to the park, read the books, watch things
together with them, and then if they go down the
YouTube path of it, they know what's good and wholesome
and that they learn those values from us, not from
the internet.
Speaker 6 (01:26):
I believe that it's a good band. However, if it's
monitored correctly, a news properly, then I'm all for it
for the kids to learn. Otherwise they're going to fall
behind in society and everyone else is going to be ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:38):
I don't believe it's does alf I've fit Ulre on
my own. They read books, they draw, and the actual
YouTube and the thirty media van. It's all about money
for these companies and they're upset they can't make it.
I'm all for the bands.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
It's like they've already been exposed to a we're taking
your favorite toil away, so there's going to be a
lot of backlash there. There's also YouTube for kids, so
they have tried to cover their bases in that sense.
Now if they could get the algorithms to get rid
of all the bad stuff. That'd be a lot better
for everyone.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
I think YouTube does pass a pub test as a
far of a tween and eighteen sons. The prime ministers
