Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda jam Nation the HC. Wow, tell me your
memories of yours.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
You know, I remember, I remember there was an award.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
I remember there was a lectern.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
There was one of those hats with a flat hat.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
And then you woke up. It was like, and that's
fair enough. In your day, not everyone did the HSC.
These days, I think the majority of students stayed a
year twelve. That's everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Unemployment rate down because everyone's still in school.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Yeah, that's right, HC. It's a terrifying time.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I take some small amount of pleasure every year, knowing
it's not me.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
And I did mine a number of years ago.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Got four hundred and ninety six out of five hundred.
That was back in the day, So you and some
Indian microsurgeon shared the same amount.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
My microsurgery isn't up to scratch these days. I do
have to say, look, I don't think i've got that
high school.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
You did, did I?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah, I remember talking to your mum about it years ago.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
I remember she is Amanda, she used to do.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
So what's happened to her? She's working with that bogan. No, No,
you're just talking to you.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Andrew Ditton was all.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Right, So today is business studies. We've had English, we've
had History, we've had maths, all the big ones, but
it still goes on and on. Apparently biology was yesterday.
And there's some interesting controversy here. Someone who's looked at
all the old exam papers because they often you think
I'll get an idea of how other questions have been asked,

(01:26):
and he found a cut and paste. Really a West
Australian HSC used exactly that question in twenty twenty three.
So note to future selves, have exquisite the other things.
And someone here said, that's outrageous.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
There. This should be our original.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
The stakes are very high for us, and surely it
should have still applied for.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
The examiners as well. Be original.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
But what's the big controversy is In year twelve, students
in eight Queensland high schools, including one of Brisbane's most
prestigious schools, found.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Out two days before their.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Ancient History exam, that they've been taught the wrong subject
diarrhea anyone. So they were supposed to learn about Julius Caesar.
Instead they were taught about Augustus Caesar. The error was
identified by teachers two days before. Imagine that in the
stuff from going are we doing blah blah blah and yah,
no we're not, they are.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
What do we tell them? Do we just get on
a plane and go and live in a ditch in Peru?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I want to by the men because I didn't do
any study so two days before I come yet whatever, Well, this.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Is the thing they've been given. You can lodge an
illness and misadventure application to say no, to say.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
That was my school career.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
He's majored in illness and misadventure and this is pretty much.
They should not be disadvantaged for this. This is bad
the school and.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
This is great.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Arranged cram sessions for students and shared an electronic resource
pack to help them prepare for in two days two
years of work forget that. But you've got two days
to cram and we'll tell them you weren't feeling well
as well. The stress of that is if this isn't
hard enough. But as you say, Brendan, I did the HC.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
You didn't. And quite seriously, we're both here enjoying the
same job. It really doesn't matter that much in the
long haul of your life. It really doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
The payscale differs a little.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Bit, but well a little bit lot whatever.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I like the fact that you make a bit more
money than me because I'm you know, I like to
see the ladies make the more money, make the more money.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Like to see that. But I feel for everyone who's
doing HC.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Doesn't matter how many people tell you, it doesn't matter
when you're in the drop zone of doing it.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
It's tough. What you do in life echoes in eternity
or not, as the case may be. So good luck,
