Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jones and Amanda in the Morning.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
That is Guy Sebastian's latest single, let Me Drink Guy Sebastian, Hello, Hello, Guy.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
I'm getting I'm getting a message in that song.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
What's you would? Pretty self explained that chorus.

Speaker 4 (00:18):
Are you thirsty?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
What do you need? You have a bit thirsty? Yes,
look at say.

Speaker 5 (00:23):
I'm mildly embarrassed because I leant over right as you
started playing that and got Amanda to turn my headphones up,
and then realized how it looked.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It's my own song and go and turn me out.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
You've got Russell Crow on it.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I have got a bit rusty exactly. Look, it's a song,
you know.

Speaker 5 (00:38):
The drink thing, I guess is just a sort of
whatever your thing is, to relax and you know, wind
down and switch off.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
And you know, I'm not a massive drinker, but.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
But I make sure that I set aside time to
just sort of just you know, have a few every
now and then and relax. And I wrote this at
a point in my life where I was just power
just going, you know, one after the other, just gig
after gig.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I was in La at the time.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
I was recording the album, and I just hadn't slept
for Ages, and I had these three guys coming in
too sing background vocals the next day on about four songs,
and I thought, I'm such a fan of these guys
they call the Hamiltons, and I followed them on Instagram
and stuff for Ages, and I was so excited to
have them in.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
I thought, I need to write something that's catered to them.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
They're these three soul singers from North Carolina and they're unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
But you wrote that in about fifteen minutes or something,
isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Well, I think because I grew up in church and
grew up in you know, surrounded by gospel soul news.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
So how does the whole church thing go with the
drink and things give you're a Catholic, that would be fine.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
But exactly exactly depends on See.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
I went to a church when I was growing up
where you weren't allowed to drink, especially like like if
you were if you were on like I was in
the music team.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
And but then I discovered there was other churches that
you drink.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
That we're all about, you know, drinking in moderation and
blah blah blah. And I think I think sometimes there's
a bit of a danger to mystifying something and making
it so, you know, this thing that's so forbidden, And
then a lot of people when the foundation starts to
get rocked in there in you know, whatever faith they're in, whatever,
then they just go nuts and they'll become massive alcohol

(02:22):
or something.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, you're you're hosting the Arias. That's exciting.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Speaking of drinking, it's a bit of that is it's
never it is a great event. I mean literally, there's
eskis in the aisles at the Arias. I mean that's
pretty odsy. And I'm pretty nervous hosting. I mean I'm
performing as well, and I'm nominated and.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Stuff like that. None of that has even crossed my mind,
you know, like really.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
So you get nervous for the hosting stuff.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
Well, I've performed a million times, but I've hosted. You
guys host all the time. I'm nervous.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Well, just imagine that everyone's in their underwear.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
They probably will arias.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
You know, you'll you'll see people that are in What
is your.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Actual advice, in all seriousness, how do you approach like
you do? You remember when you were first hosting.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I still get nervous hosting things like that because you
want to put a bit of your personality in, but
you're also structuring the night for people, so you can't
be too loose. People need to feel the structure and
then within that, big guy Sebastian yourself right with us.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
That's what I'm hoping I'll be. And don't crap on
too much. I can't guarantee you.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
No, you're so what you're going to do is just
greet them, gut them, get rid of them all, greetom,
gut them, get rid of it.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
And you know, the Arias is different.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
It's not all It's not like the Logis or something,
you know, like the with the Arias.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Actually the Logans has tons.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Of guest presenters as well, but the host has a
lot of a much bigger role and usually there's a
bit of a stand up element.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
And people won't expect that of you.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
No, no, no, And I don't think they expected that
of Keith last do you either.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
But still I want to do a good job.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
You will do a good job.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I think my whole thing has been I want to
contribute to.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Bringing even more unity in the industry, you know, I
think I think in the past, we've we've sort of
been a bit a bit segregated as a music community,
and it's that's just what happens in a small community.
You know, people get a little protective of their their
craft and their work. And and you know, I love
sometimes when I'm overseas and especially in the States, and

(04:23):
so see all these songwriters collaborate in these producers and artists,
they all get together and regardless of genre, you know,
you'll you'll have you know, Nelly the rapper doing something
with a country style.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
You know, they're just it's sort of there's this mutual
sect and.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
It will make that you'll sing on the night, yeah,
make that and just and if you get stuck, you
can either go thank the Fieries. So thanks to the
Fieries guaranteed or same sex marriage, how.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Good is that?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Or burst into song you can't know.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Don't burst into songs by yourself.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
No, I know, but no, because there's other musician hating
that person. That's crazy. Some people that sing all the
time and don't do that. Don't listen to a man
on that one broke cringe on that.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
It's an industry crowd.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
You know, when people would cross arms sitting there going oh,
that's oh he isn't that that opportunity? Yeah, look how
good I am.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Turned me up.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Guy, It's always going to talk to you. The latest
single has dropped. Let me drink, guy, Sebastian, have a drink.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I will, especially leading into Christmas. Great Christmas, you too
good to see.
