Speaker 1 (00:00):
Had a tree or a rather large branch come crashing
back to earth when it shouldn't. Maybe it went the
wrong way.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I had a beautiful tree in the backyard of a
house I rented once in Subiaco. It was the reason
I moved into this house. Yeah, about eight months after
I moved in, it started to get lower and lower
and lower, and it was dead, you know, the branches were.
It was dying, so you know, the real estate agent
said it has to come down. Well, mine neighbor was like,

(00:29):
said to me, what kind of person cuts down a
beautiful tree like that? And I said, a person who
has no choice because it's dead. Mate, do you want
it on your roof? He wouldn't talk to me for
the rest of the time I lived there. He thought
I owned the joint and I was cutting down this
tree because I didn't like it.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
It can cause real arguments. I had the tree loppers
at my place tidying things up over the last couple
of days. Thankfully, so far nothing has gone wrong. But
so often things do go wrong, And that's what we
want to hear about. This small well.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Alex in Mount Pleasant is a tree contractor. Hello Alex, Yeah,
good morning, There you go, you've been witnessed to.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Now let's just get things straight here as well. It's
not a tree loper. It's a tree surgeon. Yes, and
we specialized in the amputation of lega.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Oh God, put that two or two together.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
You know what. You're absolutely right, Alex, and I will
be I stand corrected, because it actually did have tree
surgeon on the side of the truck.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Yeah, there we go, beautiful.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
But now I had a bit of an incident earlier
this year really sort of shook me a bit and
has me sort of questioning what's going on.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
What's the universe trying to tell me.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
I went and did a job in Brentwood. We were
cutting down some trees out the back and you know,
some pruning as well. I left the undumped the truck
came back and I heard a massive crash anyway, so
I sort of scratching my head. A tree had fallen over.
A tree had fallen over. Not a tree we were
working on the same property, but a tree at the

(02:04):
front had crashed down on the top of my chip
back in the neighbor's house.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
So of course it's not a very good look when
there's a tree on the ground. The tree, all the
equipments out in the front, and it's all smashed on
the next door neighbor's house. Luckily, they had CCTV footage
of it, so we were nowhere near it when it happened. No,
the plot thickens a bit. That was actually the first

(02:30):
house I lived in as a baby, and my mother
and grandmother planted that tree fifty years ago.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
So now this is why you're questioning the universe. I
get it.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Weird, absolutely so. Anyway, it hasn't been really a great
year since that, so maybe I'm looking forward to twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
So as a tree surgeon, you now park well away
from trees.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, well, it's one of those things.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
It was a perfectly healthy tree, and it was just
a fairly strong easterly and it came over. I never
would have picked it, it would have gone over. Yeah, it's
not always possible to do that yet, but we keep
it in mind for sure.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
It's the history of the tree that gets me. That's
so bizarre.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Wow, Okay, that's that's a weird one. Alex.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Well, Alex, good luck. Yes with the rest of twenty five.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Careful where you passed the chipper and the truck, Alex. Yes,
oh boy, how bizarre. That is very bizarre. Can you
top that?

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Dean in Elinborough?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Hello, how to going, Dean? What happened? What went wrong?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
No trees falling over? Except for my dad a back
fifty odd years ago when you could actually give punish
your kids. We used to have a willow tree at
the back, and I hate trees. So he used to
rip the willow trees branches off, and he chased me
down South Road in Adelaide, and all I could eat
of this washing of these willow tree going through the

(03:57):
air and saying, come back here, you little bugger.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
That's do you hate trees?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
That's an arborous story with the difference.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Wow, yeah, that's a tree.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Sorry, So I thought that.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Was story, Dean. When you've looked at when you've looked
at properties over the years as to whether or to
buy or not, is a willow tree in the yard
a deal breaker for you?

Speaker 6 (04:23):
Well?

Speaker 5 (04:23):
I hate leaves as well. So yeah, look at my
backyard now, I have no trees whatsoever.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
He's got a he's got a concrete backyard and fruit
the lawn.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
The lawn's amazing, Yeah, yeah, it is nice and green
all right, thank you, Jean.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
But no leaves, thank you, Jane.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Brook A nice leaf, that's right. Make it difficult for yourself. Hey,
did you see that guy on the news last week.
He's an arborist. Yes, and he saved that ospray that
was tangled up in a tree. We're going to try
to get hold of him.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Oh yes, and I read about it actually in the
local paper in the post too, They did a bit
of a story, so he was he was quite the
celebrity with the great rescue. Yeah, we'll get him on
the line soon. We've been talking about arbor accidents, you know,
tree surgery gone wrongez crashing onto tree search and houses

(05:20):
and vehicles.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
But it hasn't been the case.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Did you know.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I've had trees coming down, well, one tree and some
lopping going on tree surgery. Sorry for the last couple
of days, but we have a good news story.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Here Titus Grays and Arborus from Trees West and Titus
found fame last week when he rescued an osprey that
was tangled in fishing line with a fishing hook and
was stuck hanging from a tree near the Swan River.
You can catch up on this story on nine News
per facebook page from last Tuesday, Titus, not all heroes
wear capes, as they say, what an amazing thing you did?

Speaker 7 (05:56):
Yes, yeah, thank you, thank you for having me.

Speaker 8 (06:00):
Yeah, crazy story.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Well we've been taking calls and text on tree tails.
You're an arborist, what is them? Was this tale? You know?
You're most bizarre? Or have there been others?

Speaker 6 (06:12):
This will definitely be one of my topmost three moments
for sure.

Speaker 8 (06:16):
I guess the other time I've.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Saved an animal was a black cat about eighteen months ago,
and yeah, that was a lot more dangerous and saving
this osprey, that's for sure. We've got a lot more
scratched up.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Yeah, of course, of course that's why you guys wear gloves.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I've always wondered when when you rescue an animal that's
tangled in something, do you get the vibe that they
know they're being helped or they just want to get
the hell out of dodge?

Speaker 6 (06:44):
And I'd like to think that yeah, they kind of know.
With the osprey, I like to think, yeah, he knew
what was going on, but also he just would have
been exhausted from amount of time it would have been
up in the tree.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Yeah, and then along came his hero, not in a cape,
but in a you know, in a cherry pick.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Have you have you had any update on the condition
of Ossie.

Speaker 8 (07:14):
Yes, unfortunately there has passed away.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
On the seventeenth Despy w a wild last best efforts,
but it just suffered a severe trauma and died most
likely dudistress.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah, well at least you tried, did Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 8 (07:35):
Yes, that gave it as much hope, as much chance
as we could give it.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, well you should laugh about for demise radio. I
know I shouldn't have asked, but this is a good
warning because apparently it was fishing line right.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, wrecked. Be careful with what you're throwing because it
would lead to and Titus can't be everywhere, so you know.
But still we thank you for your service. Titus, have
a great day.

Speaker 8 (08:15):
Thank you. Can I just say just my generous boss,
Richard Landers, has mentioned that if anybody calls up Trees
Less Australia ye mentioned my name, they will get ten
percent off all tree work.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Well, Titus, great, there you go do that. Thank you
got him nice.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
That was very generous. R for you, you do exactly.
Mine's Mine's finished.
