Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk sport with the Adrian Barrage.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
When you've got to get work here, you've got to
get into work Clobber. Their eight trade stores are everywhere,
so when you need it, you can get it or
check out work clobber dot com dot atu.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Hiles are they claricy morning?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Tuesday morning. It's going to be a bit of a
somber start in this sports break because our man Elliott. Yeah,
how much can a koala bear? I mean, honestly, So
we're training last week, sort of having a match simulation,
which is like you know what they call match practice nowadays.
And I won't say who tackled him, but someone tackled him.

(00:38):
He sort of went under his leg, over the top
of his leg and crushed his leg. It wasn't no
malicious or whatever. And I thought, oh, the way he
fell and how awkward it was. It's like, oh, he's
done his ACL. It's season over. And so in some
ways it's good news because he hasn't done his ACL,
he's done his medial ligament. And but also cindusmosis, which

(01:02):
in the old days we used to roll our ankles.
Nowadays it's called sindus name and it takes longer to
recover from. So there's fifty odd days to the start
of the season. It's normally sort of an eight week recovery,
so it's going to wipe out that time. So I
don't think probably he's not going to start the season.

(01:22):
I mean, it's I hate to say that because so
so much what want him to. He's had such a
great comeback last year. He played like twenty games, didn't
he Yeah, great year.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Is an m c L surgery type situation.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Or generally not generally just repair yourself, depending on how
bad it is and cindusmosis, it can be surgery because
you sometimes you sort of put little plates in there
and whatever try to straighten it up, and that can
make the recovery quicker.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
It's a bloke. He spent way too many months in
rehabit hating that he.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Said such bad luck you know, the family and all
that sort of stuff. So Harley read better when he
plays with him. He was runner up in the John
Worsfold Medal. Yoe. So he's thirty one, but he'll be back.
He'll be back. He's got Indiana of the New Barber
course partner tests and sometimes I think when you have
a child, you feel a lot better about life too.

(02:16):
So in the old days when he had no kids,
you'd get injured and you'd come home after rehab and
you feel flat. But now you come home and changed
a bit. Yeah, little bub runs down the corridor life,
your hug and all that sort of stuff and go, well,
it's not that bad. I have had a reasonable career.
But he's I'm not saying he's over anything, but he'll
be back. He'll be back. But second half of the

(02:36):
year will be Yoe's part of the season. But yeah,
we send our best wishes to live to the g Man.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Well you want, especially thirty one, you want a strong
preseason season. I missed that, but.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah, big blow for West Coast too. Now the Big
Bash final. Talking about things that are amazing, I mean
this was incredible what happened last night, massive game down
in Ho But it's called Ninja Stadium now Stadium chaina
Ninja just like and it was amazing. It's the old

(03:05):
Bellrouve Oval, so I haven't got a new oval, it's
just re been renamed. And there's this young Tasmanian team,
the Hobart Hurricanes, and they hosted the final and a
young Tasmanian he's only like twenty three, came out and blasted,
absolutely blasted the Sydney Thunder out of the game. It
was quite remarkable. His name's Mitch Owen. Just blew the

(03:28):
game apart. Little Davy Warner and he's stunted teammates and
made one hundred and eighty two looking pretty good. We said, oh,
this might be a game, and this fellaw came out.
They were fifty off two point three overs.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
You're kidding. The evening's only just begun.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Wow, they were fifty. He's open the he's opened the
batting and he's gone cop this bang, bang, bang bang.
He had hit eleven sixes. I can't remember how many.
Four was one hundred and eight or forty two balls.
It was the equal fastest ever century for the Big
Bash thirty nine balls century and thirty nine balls. And
the guy there might be a guy driving in his

(04:03):
car today, Craig Simmons. I think he still lives in
He used to hold the record. That was a tie.
So the Hurricanes a cyclone hit Hobd. It was unbelievable.
Hurricanes hit won by seven wickets. Huge TV ratings. People
just love blokes hitting Six's guys in the crowd because
they're all drinking, you know, because you know it's that

(04:24):
time of the night and you know they're all trying
to take take catches and jumping on each others. To
see the scenes on the news was insane. The whole
thing was insane and what he did was insane. He'll
never have to buy a beer and Tazzy again, No,
he will. Not the best innings I've seen in the
big bash I reckon and you know what happens? Now

(04:45):
India comes calling twenty three you want to come to
come to the OPL?

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Can you sign people up late for the IPL after
the auctions happened.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
I don't know. I'll be able to go. I'll be
able to go. It's like the new Tim David. I'll
tell you what you'd want to be his.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
But he doesn't clever.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
The scorches going beautifully. The other big event on the
weekend lease and it was in Perth was Rugby Seven's
Now this was at HbF Park.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Oh is that what was happening down there?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Yeah, from Friday afternoon when I was Friday morning I
was leaving here.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
It was like.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
A big party. People dressing up superhero, you know, I
passed that to you and going along sensational event. Forty
five thousand people went over three days. It's so massive
for HbF Park Rugby sevens.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Men's and women's, wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
It was? And our women made the Grand final even
though Madison Levy one of their probably their greatest player,
and Faith Nathan didn't play. Maddie was in the national
anthem singing the song in a sling. She was obviously
badly injured from the previous game. They were playing their
bitter rivals in New Zealand and they won twenty eight
twenty six and it was just a spectacular effort. They

(05:55):
lost the Olympic gold medal, you know, so it was
a big, big comeback for them. But they are super team.
And after the game, Bella Nasa, she was there stand
in captain. She got interviewed and she summed it up
pretty well. I thought, Bella, it's Australia day. You've just
won the Perst sevens at home. I mean, just talk
us through your thoughts right now. Yeah, as you said,

(06:20):
got to really script it much better. We haven't won
at home in a really long time. So and for
a lot of the girls it's their first time playing
at home, so yeah, I couldn't have strepted it any better.
She sounds pretty young, doesn't she know. And they're incredible athletes,
these skills, so I reckon it was twenty odd thousand there.
The whole tournament was brilliant. It was such a great event.
I'll be back next year. And then the men made

(06:41):
the final as well, made the Grand Final as well,
and they got absolutely pumped by Argentina. Unfortunately they had
a lot of injuries forty one to five. And this
I thought this was interesting. The main game, the final
game of the night on Sunday night, Australia Day night,
I suppose you'd say, was the women's.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Final, so they decided finale.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
The finale was the women's final, so I might enough
as a sign of the times or they read that
our team might be there, the Australian women might win.
But it was just capped off the night. Absolutely magnificent
at least, So whoever gets the rugby seven's here, please
keep doing it. We absolutely love it.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Does it feel a bit like a Monday being here?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
It does feel a bit weird. Our big heat wave
on it on the way again. I believe Sam Jolly
was telling me I was wrapped about that. The least
was wrapped in the days without air conditioning, and we're
talking about that. You were watching the TV through the
fly screen.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
We're sitting out on the patio that was in the house.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
The pillow, the cool side of the pillow that was
Commedie's great line as cool as the other side of
the pillow.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So we get each other.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Yeah, length, yeah, beautiful man. We turned our best wishes
to him. Hey, listen. The Australian Open was a small
event as well.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
I feel like it went for a month.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
A couple of weeks because of.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
All the lead up and so much talk about curios
and all that stuff, Novak Djokovic and all and all
the dramas that haven't and Novak pulled out and then
in the end, yet the bloke who won last year one,
yanix In he's very good.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
He beat Alexander Zverev. Verev didn't even take a set
off him, so Zara was very flat that he couldn't
even get a set off Yanick. He's an amazing looking
bloke with that red hair and in the Italian accident
he just looks that girl. He sort of mop in front.
But he's got he's got the work in front of him.
He's got two doping charges to face in April. Yeah, yeah,

(08:41):
so and one has potentially a ban of a year,
so he could actually go out of tennis for a year.
Accidental contamination by anabolic steroid is what he's saying.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
But how did it accidentally get into his chest?

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yes, he hasn't revealed that yet, but it might have
been in the meat he was eating or something. A steroid. Yeah,
there's a lot of taking that for a headache, ate
eighty five steaks or something.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
There's a lot of meat.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Someone tried that one. So the cow was on steroids.
So are we blaming the cow allegedly?

Speaker 4 (09:14):
It sounds like an odd story.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
I don't know. I don't know what his case will be. Yeah,
so he's got to get past that, and then poor old.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
If he doesn't. Does he have to give back what
he just want.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
At this a million?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Two million bucks or something that might give back the money?
The title? Yes, well in title, like all of it.
That's a good question list because there would be very
interested in that. Yeah, he's got his own problems, So
did you see what happened. I've never seen this. So
he's the match is finished and he's about to you know,
they're doing the presentation. He comes up to speak and

(09:49):
a lady in the crowd, who clearly there was no
security around, she yells out, what did she say? Australia
believes Olga and Brenda, right, And she says that she
keeps saying it, and you can hear clearly her saying
Australia believes Olga and Brenda and poor old Zverev. He
stops and he's stunned and he doesn't speak for thirty seconds.
So this is live on television, right, awkward. Obviously the

(10:12):
security then got over to the lady and ushered her out.
But apparently it relates to a domestic violence charges or
to cases that he had against him. The German his
two former girlfriends, one who's got a bub with and
they accused him of physical abuse. There was some sort
of settlement, and it was just such a weird thing
to happen at a sporting event and presentation time, yeah, right,

(10:35):
and the presentation and then in the press press conference afterwards,
and this is how he addressed it.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
I think there there are normal accusations. There haven't been
for what nine months now. Look good for her. I
think she was the only one in the stadium who
believed anything in that moment, So that's the case.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Good for her.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
I think I've done everything I can and I'm not
about to open that subject up again.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, upset about that, but it was it just flattened.
The whole thing was.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Gently Yeah, you know, I's just going to say. The
anabolic steroid thing was apparently it was in a cream
that the physiopod it. This cream is okay Italy, but
not in other places?

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Is that right? Okay?

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Maybe not Siner being a sinner.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
It's a little bit more leeway nowadays on these things,
isn't there Who was the guy who said he had
eighty five cups of coffee?

Speaker 4 (11:28):
The pentatholic, wasn't it?

Speaker 1 (11:31):
And they worked out he would have had to have
eighty five coffees too. You've got that level.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Seeds and the chicken off Seinfelder.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah, yeah, pretty much. I remember that.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Rick Garden would love that reverence to work now. At
least I love that Madison. It's seven, it's not three
thirty eight. He's a beauty. Look, I know, I better
wrap up because I've gone way over. But just on
the women's side of things, it was really beautiful Madison

(12:02):
Key's brilliant name, as he said, place in Florida, Madison Keys.
She won the title. She beat Arena Sabolenka. Beautiful young girl,
teenage prodigy she was, and she was going to be
the next big thing, and she had to wait till
she was twenty nine to finally win a Grand Slam.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
She beat Serena when she was like fifteen or something.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, she looked like she was going to be the
next Serena Sabolenka. She was going for three straight. As
he open, Scott beaten. She breaks her racket.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
If she loses, very unlike her, wasn't.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
It, But apparently that's it. That's her tradition, that's her thing. Yeah,
get a new thing.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
That's not good.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
I know it don't look good. What are those.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Probably that's again, there's surely another way of marketing.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
Normally you see her dancing, you don't see who getting angry.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Well, last time she lost like that, she went into
the change rooms and she'd know there's a camera there,
and she's quiet as anything. Looked like there's no big deal,
went over to a bag, picked up her rack and
I went.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
What.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
It's the quiet ones you've really got to be concerned.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
About anyway, I'll go at the door by saying well done.
Australia Day honors for Kelly Underwood back in two thousand
and nine, the first woman to commentate an AFL match.
And now she's got an am.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Who has given these things out now and.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Participation.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
But she has copped a lot of abuse, so it
kind of makes up for that a bit. But what
I was going to say was least I think I
can get blud because you copped some abuse well along
those lines or you know, guys don't, but I reckon
we should put you guys up for one. I'm serious
with your recording radio and what you've done for radio

(13:46):
and Western Australia. I am absolutely serious. And you know
the while you wouldn't do it is because you have
to have someone lobby for you and you probably.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Have to sell it.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
I would know I would do it, but you guys
are so humble on that you'd probably go no, no,
I didn't do that, don't do that. Hey.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Barrett's Radio in twenty twenty five was happy to have
a gig mate.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
We'll put you in next to you.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
I don't worry about may.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Is this a reverse thing you want?

Speaker 1 (14:12):
No, no, no, I definitely don't deserve it.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Services to rugby, to footy, Yeah exactly.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Yeah, it's and myself, Vidio.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
I think if anyone in this room deserved no.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Look, I forgot to mention. Perth Heat hosting the Grand
Final series starts Friday, Empire Ballpark, Thornley, Thornleigh. Thanks thanks
