Speaker 1 (00:01):
Time for Barry's bits. All right, guys, what a weekend,
make a lot of sport too. And I can see
you're really excited about Monday morning, Russ.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I'm recovery.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
They're not conning me, mate, I'm recovery least. What about
the AFL they've gone bang. It's middle of nowhere, you know,
waiting for the draft to come up, and to everyone's surprise,
the AFL goes bang out of the blue. Next season,
we'll have a wild card round during the finals.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
So there's not enough specific rounds now?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Can they just leave things alone?

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
For five seconds, but this is a quantum leap, so
you know during the pre finals by that we have
now you have the week off before the finals.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Shout yeah, you know how I feel about that.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
In there, it's going to be the seventh team will
play the tenth team and the eighth team will play
the ninth team. So the top eight is gone g
A W N gorn. It's a top ten from next
year top ten finals. How's that? So we only got
eighteen teams and ten are going to make the finals.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
What's the reasoning for doing this?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Why? Well, part of me, where's that?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Either of you make me sick.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
I've caut that off. You've only been in five seconds.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
You gave it to me last week.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yes, so some people say rewards mediocrity when eighteen teams
and ten of them can play finals. But you can
imagine that wild card round after the end of the
home and away season where seventh plays tenth and eighth
place ninth for us to stay alive, like sudden death,
it's going to be enormous, enormous.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
How much longer is it going to make the season?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Well, they'll just go into that week they normally have off,
so there'll be no buy there. I mean, the other
teams will had to buy, but the four teams that
are playing won't.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, I mean I can see after this last season
just gone how tight it was, you know, just percentage
points to make it into the eight or so. That's fine,
but there are years when there's a gap.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
We'll say, in twenty twenty four, when the dock has
finished tenth, they would have stayed alive, they would have
played finals, they would have been having another game and
probably knowing them, they would have won and got through.
And who knows what could have happened in twenty twenty four,
so it's a massive leap. I suppose when Tazzy comes
in and there's nineteen teams it makes a little bit
more sense. But that's top ten, so it's a top

(02:22):
ten finish now and it's an American system, so they're
doing the NFL. Of course, Hey, let's talk about go
not golf. Lease, I was going to talk about golf
with you.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
But cricket.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Joe Roots, so arguably the best batter in the world,
arrived last night in Perth and its places for England.
He's scored the second most Test runs ever after ten Dooka.
But how's this He's never scored a century in Australia. Now,
if you've got some audio there, because as soon as
he got off the plane, my man Locky Burn from
Channel seven, guess what his first question was.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Have listened Mite?

Speaker 5 (02:56):
You've done everything in cricket, haven't had a Test century
here yet?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
As a heard her to break, I don't.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
Think this tour is about me. I think it's about
us as a team. It's very exciting, sought to be
involved in, looking forward to it. It's a great talks
to be on a great country to come a visit,
so it should be a great few months and some great,
great cricket been played all round.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Absolutely, and there was plenty of drama two years ago.
What are you expecting from the assie crowd.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
I'm sure it would be a great atmosphere too, good, says,
playing some good cricket and hope for that creates a
great spectacle for watching.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Ask you straight up? Too hard?

Speaker 3 (03:31):
A questions? Bounces.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
It's really nice bloke. And least do we have to
give a warning about the Brasilian Grand Prix? It was
on at one am?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
No one wants to know.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yeah, listen Oscar So he crashed in the sprint race,
so he started down the started.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Fifth or so he's got in trouble for it.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah. Yeah, he finished fifth in the air and he
copped a ten second penalty for contact, which meant he
didn't get in on the podium again, hasn't he.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Had nowhere to go? As he said after the I
can't just disappear quit exactly.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Well, that's what they want him to do. Have him
on your team if this is what's going to do.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
An he drives into it. It's like you could see
him hit the skids, just smoke coming off. He's trying
to get out of there.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
What twelve he shouldn't be driving.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
In I didn't realize he watched the F one Yeah
into it, mate, Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
He was in the Center movie and I'm not kidding
in the.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
CENTA movie really was What's Your Role?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
You know the documentary?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
You know the one that came. Yeah, I was in
the McLaren pits in nineteen ninety three.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Oh, that's brilliant. I'm going back to I'm in.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
There for about two seconds and that I'm in it.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
And in bad news and they were running out of
some Lando. Norris one, so he's competitor one. So it's
twenty four points now between Norris and Oscar with three
races together.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Something stinks Oscar. Whatever that's saying is prera, thank you,
thank you, Shakspeare.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
We'll come back pre race, bit of sugar and the
fuel tank, Mate, it'll do the trick.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Well, the a F L W Yes.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
What was what was the back page?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Yesterday?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
All over in six hundred seconds.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, third quarterly got blitzed the Eggs. But congrats on
a great historic season, first ever final. I'll tell you
what was better news was the Wildcats. Jez l clever.
They went over there to play against Bryce Cotton for
the first time in Adelaide. Huge crowd, huge crowd, and
at the beginning they were sort of sucking up to him.
You could see before the match, shaking hands, hug, high five,

(05:42):
keep the line quiet. They didn't go and it worked beautifully.
They held him to twenty three points. Basically the entire
team sort of worked out that they had to stop
Bryce and it was just made well done to John
really and the team for them to beat Adelaide over
there like that and he only scored twenty three points.

(06:02):
This is David Dix, David Dix, not David Dix, David
Duke Jr. He's what he had to say about Bryce.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
It was hues.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
I mean, honestly, it was a lot of just keying
in on him, you know, making his life hard. You know,
it's a great players and it makes tough shots what
he did tonight, But the kids is just making you know,
take touch shots, touch shots, wearing down over plus of
the game and then you live with the results, which
I think we did a phenomenal job with today, all
five guys, because it takes all five of gardens. So
you know, I tured it to the guys, what's the poorly?

Speaker 3 (06:33):
What about your team? Dylan win do Little? They were
massive for you guys as well as your game. How
are you finding that?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
And what did you think of those two today? Man?
Those two those guys are dogs.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Man. They say living well is the best revenge. So
well done, Wildcats.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
And to do it over there on the cake that
David Duke Junior was somebody.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
He's going to be enormous and just say the dogs,
those dogs Windler and do Little magnificent the big compliment.
The Scorches played last night off to a slow start
in their season in the wbbl at the Whackers skirled
for one hundred and nine and then they were chased
down in just twelve and a half overs by the
Sydney Sixers. They didn't even lose a wicket and it

(07:18):
was a dominant ten wicket defeat.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
So that's no good.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
And I just wanted to mention have you seen Harley
Reed's new hairstyle? Yes? I did, and corn Rows that's
cool and apparently it's allowed to do that. It's more
what's that word aerodynamic? It's more aerodynamic apparently, so I'm
not sure it is less drag?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Has he been accused of? Cultural I was.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
To say, this is is he allowed to do? Why
didn't did you shave it?

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Less drag, more swag. Nothing's going to make but training
starts today. So if you want to check it out,
really head down to lat Lane for already. Yeah, first
of four they're back. And and yoe first of four
years and yoey.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Mister parties over, yoey okay, holidays over.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
We'll see you on Wednesday, all right, we'll see you
then

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
