The Golden Bachelor is about to start on Channel 9 so Lisa and Russell took the opportunity to get the man himself Bear Myrden on the phone for a chat and they also played a game of Who Would You Rather with him.

We have seen a few bachelors over the years.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Some are very happily hooked up during the show, some not.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
But on Monday night at seven thirty on Channel nine
and nine, now we meet the Golden Bachelor.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
In fact, we meet him right now. Bear Murden, Good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Morning, Ben, Good morning, good morning. How are you good? Now?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
What made you decide to go on the show? Because
I believe they were after you for a while.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yes, it fell into my lap and I kind of
I didn't see myself as being putting myself out there
on television, so I kind of rejected it three times,
But then I had the support of my boys, and
I decided, you know, a life short why not?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I mean, it's hard enough to put yourself out there
when you get to our age beer, you know, without
without it being on television.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yes, oh yeah, I'm I'm pinching myself now and thinking
what have I done? But I'm having a great time.
I'm having a really good time.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
But were you pinching yourself when you had twenty women
vying for your heart? I mean all at once? How
did you handle the attention.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Me and twenty women? What could possibly go on?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I could only imagine I guess we will find out.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Oh yeah, did you did you happen to catch up
with any of the previous bachelors, you know, like Sam
Wood and Maddie j and like, you know, just to
get a bit of advice. No, no, no, you're going
in cold.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
No. Samantha Hermitage, she was. She was a great mentor
to me. But no, I didn't. I didn't get I
wasn't really I didn't. I didn't watch a lot of
the older series. So yeah, I was in it, really
truly cold. You're going to feeling my way through it? Yes,
feeling my way through it.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yes, When you put twenty women in a house or
vibe for one man.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
There's got to be some issues. Do you Are you
sort of when you're filming? Are you privy to anything
that might be going on between.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
There or Yeah, it's going to be a surprise to
me as well. Yes, what happened behind the scenes is
all new to me.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Did you have any deal breakers you know that that
you went in thinking these are some of the things
that that I must have if I'm going to You know.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
You asked me what my preference was. I'm an active
and fit guy, so I that was a must, you know,
to be active and you know and fun loving and
up for new experiences. But other than that, you know,
you can have beautiful women in all sheeps and sizes.
And the ladies were certainly a diverse group. They were,

you know, from all walks of life and just fun, exciting, intelligence, beautiful.
It was just yeah, it was, it was. It was
a good selection of ladies.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I do know one of the ladies that the Bianca die.
I'm sure she kept you on your toes.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Well, see, I was only it wasn't until well into
the filming that I knew their last names first names only,
and I was one dred percent lockdown, so I didn't
have a lot of yeah, she's she's yeah, she's fabulous. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Obviously we can't ask you who, where, why, or how?
But can you reveal if you've found, you know something
through the show?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Well you know you're just going to have to watch
all right.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah, fair enough. All I can do is ask and you.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
That I made the right decision, so you don't.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Have to tell me once.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Right, We want to play a quick game, very quick
game with you there. It's a game of who would
you rather the Golden Bachelor Edition is a famous women
over fifty five. Okay, so we get a bit of
a feel for you know, what you're looking for, what
you're looking for, So you have to choose Jamie Lee
Curtis or Nicole Kidman.

Speaker 4 (04:35):

Oh yeah, there's a test, and I'm sure they're both lovely.

the Cole?

or Susie Quatro.

Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to think. I just still Yeah,
Nicole's winning.

Okay, I think I think it's Nicole. I think at
once you've gone Michelle Fifer turned her down.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
There's really no point going any further.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
And the good news is bere she's free at the moment.
