Lisa & Russell reminisced about their favourite cakes, and somehow Seinfeld even gets a mention along the way.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Every day is a special day, national something day or
National something day.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
This is a day I actually just don't need unless
I ran a bakery, I don't.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Need this day.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
It's National Cake Day.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
In fact, did you know it's International Cake Day?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
It's international.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
It's it's National Cake Day, and it's international. Is growing, International,
covers it off, then takes care of everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
It's World Cake Day. Let them eat cake, man, Let
the meat cake?

Speaker 4 (00:34):
That was?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Who was that?

Speaker 5 (00:36):
That was the French before she lost the head, very quinette.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
For a minute, not as permanently as she did, but
probably the most famous cake quote of all times.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Who doesn't like a cake?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Ah? My sister really yeah, she doesn't eat cake. She's
very good. She's very very very very disciplined, very.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
The discipline.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
But on the day it was handed out.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
That's different from not liking cake.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
I guess, so yeah, that's very she will she will
take her cake calories in champagne and chocolate. She is
otherwise very disciplined.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Just offsets all the good.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
What's your favorite cake?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I My favorite cake is.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Cheesecake, which is cheesecake is not being like being cheesecake,
and I think of cake cake, but you know, what
I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I get, I get, I get where you're going. I
get where you go. Look, who doesn't like a nice
sponge with a good sponge. I'm going to use the
m words.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Again, mudcake and niced bud cake. My mum. This sounds
really nothing to plain and it is. But growing up,
Mum used to make an amazing tea cake. It must
have come out of the cook but the top part,
I mean, and you only ate it for the top part.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
But it was just delicious. It's like the muffin tops
in Seinfeld. Rest the rest can go.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And of course another great Seinfeld cake reference was the
chocolate Bobka that they missed out on when they were
lining up for cake. But the history of cake cake
dates back to ancient times, and the first cakes are
thought to have been made in ancient Greece and Egypt.
These first cakes were rather heavy and flat and were
eaten at the end of a meal with nuts and honey.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And probably not a lot of sugar because I don't
think they found the stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
So that that evolved into bucket, which I love, but
I don't think of also its cake, it's more of
a pastry.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, we have to start somewhere. I think we should
indulge in some cake later.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Today, probably celebrate it. Seems like the right thing to do,
to celebrate International Cake Day with cake.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Some days I find hard to celebrate, but this one
I reckon I can get on board.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
I wonder if I could get Mum to whip up
two cake.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Okay, make sure you bring in a slice or two
for us tomorrow. Anyway, International Cake Day, Make it a day,
enjoy it.
