Speaker 1 (00:00):
So we reckon. We saw someone breaking up at a
restaurant the.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Other nights over here, you did, yes.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Me and Susie eagle eyed. We know the signs.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
That's why our producer and keeps everything. We were observant.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
We're having a bit of a work diner.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
The blokes at the table completely oblivious to what was
happening at the table next to us, very very sad faces.
He looked really yuilty and she was wiping away tears,
and Susie and I are like, I think they're breaking up.
I'm not laughing because I mean it was It wasn't funny,

(00:41):
but we we thought, we want to hear from you
as to whether you've ever had a public breakup. Now,
why do you break up with someone in a restaurant?
It happened to me years ago. I had a boyfriend
that gave me the big it's not you, it's me
speech bull.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
At what was it?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Was it called the Jetty and then it was called
Aqua or something nice restaurant in Netlands like the old
JoJo's JoJo's JoJo's right there before the same between. I
think it was in between the the entrain that made
did he really think I was going to stick around
for dinner.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Did he think that's such a setting this place to
do it? He thought the setting would soften the blow.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I think he thought that maybe I would, Yes, did.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
You stick I don't think it was that.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Did you stick around it and order something expensive?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
I didn't know. I didn't even think of that.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I don't think he thought it would soften the blow.
I think he thought it would make it less dramatic.
Maybe I would just you know.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Because you didn't want to embarrass yourself. Yeah, and make
a scene in front of a select crowd.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
And I guess that it did work, But it was
that's a horrible place to tell someone there dropped.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Well it worked for him. Well, yes he got off
the hook lightly. Yes, you didn't order anything. No, he
really did get off the thinker that when he walked off,
you know, to go to the toilet or something. You
should have said bring me the wine list.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Should have and three lobster? But have you had or
have you witnessed? Which can be even better?

Speaker 1 (02:19):
This is okay public breakup.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Made up names if you need to to protect the innocent.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
We are talking about public breakups. Whether you've had one,
whether you've witnessed one. There was nothing like the public
breakup of the school yard where someone's best friend would
be sent to tell you that you're dropped.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
You have to drop on you're dropped.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Tracy got dropped, she'll drop me.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
You're dropped, so she's probably gonna drop me now spot.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Work.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
No, you never did it in person.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
That was courtesy of puberty blues, which I think gave
us the great term.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Johnny Guy, Good morning.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
John Good morning, guys.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
There you going.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
I haven't had a public relationship breakup, but I did
witness two within a week as an horver driver, because
they did an in the fact, seat of the car
was specifically specific about what he'd been up to and
what he'd been doing, and it went into very more

(03:32):
neute detail, and it was most pleasant. I could give
you a little hint here, but he decided he gave
some hints about what they could do given a certain
lady was at that top of the month.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Crazy and it was it was.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
And the crazy thing was these were two with a
the same within a week, I'll pick them up the
same pub. Oh okay, and it's it's above with three
initial letters. Somewhere near the beach.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I think we know where you're talking about, John, So.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Do you drop them off separately when they break up
in the back of the year or what what happens?

Speaker 6 (04:20):
I just I just went on.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
It was affording of the trip. So soon as they
got in the car and started and I thought, oh
my god, not a kid. And then it went off
for twenty five minutes. Yeah, at each other.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
All recorded on the security came.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
When, you know, apologized when she got out of the car.
But it was just like floor.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
You'd see it all, John, You'd see it all as
a cabby or as an uber driver.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Carolyn and Willerton, says her neighbors.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
I think they were going for a private breakup, but
it became a bit public. The next door Na came
home to an empty house after his wife hired a
truck and emptied their house of all but the TV cabinet.
And then she came back a few days later and
there was a lot of screaming and shouting, culminating in
her throwing something through their front window. As the first time,
do you remember a friend of ours you and I

(05:15):
had that he came home one day and she had
cleaned out the whole house except for a photo of
the two of them that she left strategically on the wall.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
That was aggressive. That was it.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Nothing else in the house, nothing, not that she took
it all. Kathy said on the text says she was
dumped at midnight on New Year's Eve. They'd gone to
a French restaurant in Mundering and then went to the
weir to see in the New Year, and that's where
it happened. Had absolutely no idea it was coming. At
least I got a very expensive dinner out of it,
very long, quiet drive back to her, and I've never

(05:52):
wanted to celebrate New Year since that's the.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Side, Kathy. You got to move on from that. I
can celebrat him.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I reckon go double.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Life's not over.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah, well it did seem so on probably his day
that year.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
But anyway, Sharon in Mandra.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Hello, Hello, how are you guys good?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
What happened?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
What happened?

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Ah?

Speaker 7 (06:15):
Well, I was in high school, so we're going back
quite a long time because I'm in the sixties now.
But I'll never forget my humiliating breakup when a guy
i'd been dating for probably a whole two days. Yes, yes,
very loudly announced in front of all his friends that
he was breaking up with me because I was as

(06:37):
cold as an absence on a polar bear's asshole.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
He only gave you two days.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
I know. It was one of those stupid things. I
didn't even know the guy. He didn't know me though,
But you know, it's been like a good idea to
be boyfriend and girlfriend. But obviously we obviously we weren't suited.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
It was quite the poet though.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
He may not have known you, but he certainly gave
you quite the character analysis, did you.

Speaker 7 (07:08):
Oh it's hilarious, isn't it. I can't believe I still
remember that after all these years.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Oh okay, that that kind of thing sticks with you.
Thanks Sharon.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Oh that's awesome and very public and in school and awkward.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yeah, ticks every horrentous box.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
But was over by afternoon recess.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Ever had a public breakup, a very public one after
we reckon. We saw one. The girls are certain we
saw one about a week and a half ago.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Totally Lorane and Hilbert, Hello.

Speaker 7 (07:44):
Ah, Hi, how are you going good?

Speaker 1 (07:45):
What happened?

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
In high school this boy asked me out and I
said yes, and then I got teethed relentlessly by mate.
So after an hour I broke up with him and
he was in the science club and he's not happened,
and he was being a bit obnoxious. So I pushed
his head into the microscope and then he chased me
around the science lads. So we both got pumished by

(08:08):
the teacher.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Sounds science class.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
The chemistry wasn't there.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
No, absolutely, we had to run a thousand lines about
being safe.

Speaker 8 (08:20):
I will not break up over the buns and burner,
not while it's on anyways, school romance, everything, they had, everything.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
They were the most entertaining breakups.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
Well yeah, well on the receiving end at least she
told him in person she shouldn't get her best friend
to go and say.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Lorraine said, do your drop?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Do you drop?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Public breakups in Rockingham says.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I found out my relationship was over was when my
then partner put up on Facebook.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
She was in a new relationship. That's and so I had.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
A friend message asking if I was okay because they
saw the post before he did.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
That's horrible. Everything about that is horrible.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
But it's the way now.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Well for some it doesn't have to be.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
It doesn't have to be.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
But anyway, Wayne in South Perth, what happened with your breakup?

Speaker 6 (09:19):
Hi? I mean this was the seventies. I was working
as a guide on the European camping to a circuit
and there was one girl on the trip who was
telling everyone that this was her last far before she
came back home to Australia to marry her fiance. And
then a week into the trip she comes and asks
me if I have us there content because she and

(09:40):
one of the single fellows that decided was able a couple.
Oh so sure, sure enough. We gave them a tent
that we're using. And then late one night we were
in Happens and we got a telex. Because this was
before mobile phones, we've got a telection head office saying
that a new passenger was joining the trip because he
wanted to surprise his fiance.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Ah the driver, and.

Speaker 6 (10:02):
I thought okay, first thing in the morning because they'd
already gone to bed. Bah. Well, I got woken to
all hell breaking looms because he'd arrived before the sun
came up and went straight to the tenth and the
jumped for the two of them. Oh public a breakout
that you can get, yes, that is pred he stuck

(10:24):
around for a couple of days, such.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
A long way that is amazing.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
