Speaker 1 (00:00):
He's back on the TV again. Well, he's on the
TV a bit. Actually, isn't he hosting the logis? He's
at the front bar during footy season. He's a regular
on Have You Been Paying Attention? And he has his
own show putting his own name up in lights on
Sam Pang Tonight Morning, mate, you've been renewed for season
two eight forty Monday Night on ten.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah. Thank good morning, good morning, good morning, Russell.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Sorry, it's all right, I know because you're normally at
the other end of the day. It's okay. We're going
to give you. We're going to give you a pass
on confusion.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Thank you for that beautiful introduction. I also would like
to find it. Did you describe me as a regular
on Having h Paying Attention? Not the star.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
So many stars? You are one of many stars, a
galaxy of stars, a milky way of stars.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
You're not backing down, no eyes. I appreciate that, no, mate,
It's wonderful. Those shows are great and I'm looking forward
to to an I check coming back. We had a
lot of fun in season one and well, yeah, we'll
have more in season two.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
What are we expecting in season two? Anything different from
season one, is it bigger, better, brighter.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Well, I'm still the host currently, Russell, so that's you know,
that's the only bit I really worry about.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
That's the starting point.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Sometimes, you know, executives come in and they start to
make changes and all of a sudden, you know, Sampaign
Tonight's hosted by Kittie flanaghan or something, which I would watch,
by the way, so you've got to be careful. But no,
it's you know, I think if you saw season one,
you know the DNA of the show is there. It's
you know, it's an old fashion Tonight's show with hopefully
you know, lots of jokes and great segments and good

(01:30):
fun guests. And you know, we're starting with a good guest, rossio'
donald's on the show.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
So she'll obviously be there to talk about her nominating
Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I guess yeah. I think I wonder if he might
have it by then too, so that that might be
the opening game.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
That might make it a slightly bit awkward for us.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, there we go.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Well, but given that there's two things that he doesn't like,
which is talk show hosts and Rossio O'donald you're playing
with fire nice and early, aren't you?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
The very good point, Russell, But yeah, tune in early
for the show because who knows it you know, it
might be pulled off air by the time Donald has
a look at it.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Show one, season two and that's where it ended. No, No,
I'm sure it won't. I'm sure he's got a lot
of other things to worry about at the moment you
were hosting the logis again, obviously you enjoy it or
do they just think or do they just keep pressuring
you to do it.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
As there is no one else to do it? No,
I think I've had a good time. What was my
third one? And I've had a good time doing and
they're fun to kind of prepare for. And the night
is you know, I don't think it's long enough in mind, Russell.
But then again, and I'm not in charge of those
sort of things, so I always like an award ceremony
that starts at seven point thirty and finishes at seven
thirty am the next day, like a talithon by the

(02:46):
end of it. But I had a good time, mate,
It's a good fun and you know, I've done three
and if they asked me to come back. Well, that'd
be great.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
At the backstage part is something that keep bringing you back.
Any stories known names, no names, any stories that like
just one story that you could share with us.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Kerrie and Kennelly, Manu, you know, all of them just
out of control of it. I don't need to hide it.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
They're all pretty loose. After a LOGI win.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well because if anyone has watched the logis lately, nothing's
you know, it finishes. It finished at five to midnight
this year. So can you imagine anyone who's at the
after party other than me. I don't have my first
drink till midnight. I stay dry for the ceremony. I
just think that's professional.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Well, that's safe.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Whenever my last one is though, I'll be I'll walk
out with a wine in my hands. But that at
the moment, I'm happy to keep it dry. But the
after party is those people at that after party have
been basically, you know, on the red carpet since about
three so they are well described it served.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yes, yes, they are well lubricated by the time they
get up to accept their award or a sneer from
the crowd when they don't win their award. You also
host the front bar. We see you during during footy
season on that at seven. So you spend a lot
of time at ten, you spend some time at seven.
Do you get awkward looks when you go across to
seven to the other network to do your other show.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
They don't really even know that I'm work there, most
of them. Mate. You know what, man, it's all about Mick.
It's all about the big dog in the middle. It's
his show. It's his you know, a good thought sitting
at a bar having a beer talking about footy like
you know, when we first shot this, Mick thought it
was a documentary, do you know what I mean? So
I don't think Channel seven. I don't think either station

(04:29):
care what I do, which is lovely. It's a wonderful
place to be in and it's great that in this
modern day you can be on two networks.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
If you're gread enough, you can and you can just
fly under the radar. Yeah, and make Mick the target.
But it's not about seven. It is all about Sampang
Tonight's eight forty Monday Nights season two. He's back, he's
up in lights and he has a big name guest
Rosie O'donald to start and that will just be the

(04:56):
start of the big name guests. I'm sure through this
second season.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Well, fingers crossed, Russ, but we'll just see how we go.
You know me, and we are in Australia, so you know,
I don't think channelten has the budget to fly out
beyond dal or you know, Barack Obama, So you know,
I'm happy to whoever's in town and they're fun and
interesting and entertaining, and then I'd love to have them
on the show.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
I'm sure Network ten can can afford a zoom call
for you mate.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
That's a good point.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
That's how it's done. Now you just get them zooming there.
There you go, Sam, thanks for talking to us this morning.
Good luck on Monday night, and may season two lead
to season three and season four and beyond.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Thank you very much, Russell, I appreciate it. Lovely to
talk to you.
