Iconic Aussie brothers Stephen and Bernard Curry hit the road on Channel 10’s The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition, which kicks off tonight! They phoned in for a chat - Russell asked what the Himalayas were really like, Lisa got the scoop on the all-new face-off challenge... and yep, they had to ask: were there any behind-the-scenes camel bites?"

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Beating the others. That's the name of the game. And
the Amazing Race.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yes, the Celebrity edition. They're off and at it again.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
It begins seven thirty tonight on ten and two of
the contestants this year one of the teams, I should say, yeah,
Stephen Curry and Burded Curry.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Good morning, Russell Mourning Fellows.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
So now I was just saying before this this would
go one of two ways. I reckon traveling with you.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Do you want to just ask you one question though, Lisa? Yes,
camel bus camel.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
But one of those awful things that siblings used to
do to each other.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I used to get Chinese burned.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Camel bide all that camel's but what look, I think
it involves squeezing skin in different directions?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Can you That's horrible? So you're on your own here
the youngest.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Okay, I know.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
The reason we went on the Amazing Race together is
because we didn't indulge in camel butts that.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
But it's not a but what is it?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
A camel bykee camel bite?

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:23):
I don't know whether to google it now or not.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah, we were really doing Dutch ovens.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
We didn't do anything right.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
So how did you get on?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Actually we had warned them from the from from the
start of this race that we get along quite well,
almost unnervingly well, and they were yeah, yeah, yeah, we
will see about that. And they tried to set us
a few brotherly traps that would make us absolutely each other,
and kind of the more they did, the more we
seem to enjoy it. It was weird.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
The thing is living like living in each other's pockets
and like living in hotel rooms and that sort of stuff.
That's not about happy place. You know. We just ordered
a couple of years of the room and get the
footy on the TV and then and then get out
and race against So they tried, but they couldn't break it.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Sounds like they might have missed. They might have missed,
you know, cast you.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, I think so. I think so. I think they
were very very disappointed because they were hoping to get
a little bit of like juicy argumentative behavior, and I
think they got They got almost too much. We enjoyed
it almost too much to do.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
That thing in the hotel room where you drag your
little your little clothesline across the bath and hang your jocks, did.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
You I would suggest that you're either wearing them or
washing them. So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
That's what you do when you travel, isn't it.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
You know?

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Interestingly, the producers actually when we asked, they said, well,
when we asked what the best, what generally the best
teams are, they said, well, actually, siblings generally do the best.
And then when we asked what the worst are they
they said, oh, yeah, and it's an easy it's an
easy answer that one. It's like old friends from way back,
you know, they said, the cracks start appearing really soon,

(03:17):
they start getting bigger and bigger, and then by the
end of us like I can't earn it.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
That's where the shared DNA helps.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Also many many times with old friends from way back,
they haven't spent enough time sleeping in the same room
as each other, which I think was our seat superpower
because I've seen that. I've had the sights, the sounds,
and the smells of that for fifty years now, the smells,
and I think we're very used to it, and there
were no surprises, all right.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
So you start in the Himalayas, Wow, what a place
you start.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
I don't believe it. Open that whole opening sequence with
bow in front of Annapurna Mountain up in a town Akara,
which is kind of the gateway to the to where
you do all of the big hikes up into the
in everspace camp and stuff. Was just it was an
incredible way to start the race. And and we you know,
you really get dropped in off the deep end. It's

(04:13):
like ready to said go and you're off and running
and rip and read and you're trying to find a
car and then you you're run. I mean it's really like,
you know, you don't really get a chance to practice.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
I'm going to be honest because I'm almost certainly undiagnosed.
Add I didn't see anything. I have not seen where
we were because I was too busy trying to remember
all the rules of each challenge. I'm really looking forward
to seeing the show to actually see some of the
places we went.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Because you know, you go, you went to was Bekis come,
we went to.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Bed Oh my god, nobody nobody's bucket list.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Ever, there's there's a place you would never choose to
go on holiday.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Someone who went there once and they said exactly the
same thing.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Yeah they've got they've got the internet there now, but
they don't have smiling yet. Oh, no, smile will come next.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Oh yes, now tell us about the brand new face
off challenge.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Speaking of challenges, is the face of challenge?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I just I was just asking you.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Do we know something you don't had to head in
a game battle?

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Oh? You know what we might have done. We might
have done, you might have uncovered that we're not allowed
to give any spoilers, that we didn't get far enough
into the race.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
As soon as it was out of my mouth, I thought, controversial.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Did you become close? Let's move on.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Did you become close with any of the other teams?

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Because you've got Ayisha Scott.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
She's how what's not to love about Aisha?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
She's there with my wife.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
My wife wants to marry out stuff, so that's kind
of a little bit awkward. My wife actually said, I
don't know who to barg for out of you or Asia,
but we are on opposite teams and I've been with
you twenty five years, so how about you know? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (06:19):
But you know it was actually the great The great
thing is when you get surprised by teams that you
think you're not going to like, like Steve, Steve really
wanted not to like Brendan Favola, Collingwood Man and Brendan
you know, Brendan Carton and used to tear the hearts
out of Collingwood supporters, and against his better judgment, he

(06:39):
kind of fell in love with him.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Well we're not in love. I mean it might bust
into that one day.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Admiration. All right, Yeah, my.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Collingwood barracking mates can't stand me anymore because I love head.
So this is not it's not worked out.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Well, well we will.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Find out ourselves. How far into the race you get.
We know you go to Azbekistan.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
So that's not that I told you not to ask
that question, Lisa.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
No, And for those playing along at home, a camel
bite is when one person squeezes another person's thy region hard,
resembling the bite of an actual camel.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
And what's a camelot?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
I did just look that up on Urban Dictionary.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
You're not that is I was reading from Urban Dictionary.
