Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the weekend, Lisa, when some of us get
to stay up past midnight so that we can watch
Telethon all night.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Used to be like that.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
It was the one night year where you could home
and TV would be on all nights.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
They get their shirts off and do twenty push ups
for twenty dollars. Yes for Beryl and carrying up.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Yes, nobody really wanted to see Graham, Kennedy and bobbing
in with their shirt off, but you know they tuned.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Beggars couldn't and they gave their money, as they will
again this weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Indeed.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
And the man wrangling it all together, mister Telethon, Tim McMillan,
Good morning, Tim.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
I'm not sure that's the title. Anyone wants. A few
days out from the weekend, I think we have to
have that, you know, dozens of mister Tellothon.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Well you and ben Oshay will Beno chees the overnight
mister Telethon, and we'll speak to him later in the week.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Yes, well, well you mentioned some of the cnemicans go
on in the way out.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yes, that that's right. His shirt off is off already.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
We'll be asking what time off It starts.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Seven pm of course Saturday on seven or seven plus
and for the first time seven flicks for national audiences.
We can show them how it's done. So you can
call thirteen hundred and seven three seven five oh seven.
Get that in your head now right from the get
go between between six thirty so not my first radio,
between six thirty Saturday and eight thirty Sunday over the
(01:32):
telethon weekend or head to telethon seven, dot com forward
slash donate and you can dotinate online at any time.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
It's the fifty eighth go around.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I know fifty eight yep, yes, And it comes right quickly,
doesn't it?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
But it does.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Here we are again, another weekend of absolute madness and
joy and giving and generosity, so many things. It's a
weekend quite I'm like the other, isn't it? As you
will know from being part of many.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Of them over the years, that yeah, it takes much
of the year to put it all together to there's
a huge team that doesn't it does? At what point
do YouTube in.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Going on? Yeah, that's the weekend. As you know, the
team is. You know, they are busy all year round,
obviously preparing for this weekend, but also so many other
initiatives that actually go through you know, the other three
hundred and sixty three odd days of the year. So
it's a phenomenal effort and the team that works really
do an incredible job over the year. But of course
(02:38):
this is this is pressure time then, because no one
wants to be the team that doesn't be last year's titles.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
You know, I remember the first time it clicked over
to one million last year.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Last year eighty three point three million, and we say
it every year, how how could you possibly break the
record again? No one expects, you know, to go above
eighty three point three million.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
It's incredible, isn't it. But that's got to be the
target this year. And look, yeah, we just have to
hope that people give generously on the weekends and help
us get there, because every year there are more and
more beneficiaries coming on board with Telephone who didn't get
the funding to go and deliver the incredible services, you know,
(03:26):
do the amazing research and all the other initiatives.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
That are part of Telothon and so many the rest
of the year. Yeah, and there's so many ways that
people can do it too. I mean, even Bunny, you know,
if everyone goes to Bunning's on the weekend. You know
they're doing the barbecue eight till four. One hundred percent
of the proceeds from every Yeah, the full snag is
going to telethon.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Yeah it's great. Is that if you needed another excuse
to go four times in the one weekend? Everything the
first time around, you.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well, no, it never gets everything they need to last
time the first time.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
The ranking, of course.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Who's coming, who's coming to town?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Who are the big stars?
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Look a lot of the usual suspects. So we're going
to have home away people, people from from the back Bar,
from Better Hunt Gardens, from the Sunrise team and you
know the Morning Show and seven years and all the
rest of it. We've got to rot and keeping performing
this year. Yes, he's one of the certainly one of
(04:32):
the bigger names coming on. Donovan Darmi in ye yeah Mie,
remember Damie when she was on the euro Addicitional stage.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
She should have won that show was robbed.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
She was robbed. So you can three here on stage
this weekend at a host of other stars.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
So the beautiful Chris Brown.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Doctor Chris Brown will be there when the Kruger's coming. Yes,
I noticed you're asking about Dr Brown. There you you know.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
I sat next to him in the in the makeup
room last year and I.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Requested a lot of makeup. Just keep just keep me
here as long as Chris is in the chair.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Yeah, what was he doing all that time?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Then?
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Well it didn't take him long to look beautiful, so
he was in and out.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Pretty good conversation.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
So if you see Lisa on TV this weekend with
a little too much rouge, you'll know that Chris Brown.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yes, yes, and we had to wait from four am.
Still he finally came in.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Schedule.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Oh yes, please just send it through.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Now, what about the Family Festival that's back, that's back.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
That's always a huge as well. That's a fairly recent
initiative that Yeah. I mean, we absolutely take over that
corner of the city around our arena. So from ten
to four is the Family Festival. There's all sorts of
carnival rides, there's food trucks, there's different stores. A lot
of the beneficiaries are mentioned have stalls there, so you
get to get a chance to go up and meet
(06:03):
some of those people and see what they do throughout
the year. As tell us on beneficiaries. But it's just
a great family fun day out. It's free entry. Public
transport into the city is free as well. And if
you want to go from there into the arena to
see what's going on on stage in there, that the
show that's actually being broadcast from outside of the Saturday
(06:24):
and the Sunday evening shows I think from Saturday from
seven to ten thirty and then again from seven per
moments until the end on the Sunday they are ticketed shows.
But outside of that, so through all of that, you
know early hour of the morning chaos that you mentioned
us for. So that's a gold coined ovation. If you
want to go in there, it's.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
A lot of fun too.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Yeah, absolutely, it takes us fun and you get to
see just what a mad weekend it is.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, yes, and it's back really you really are part
of it once you're in the arena.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
There back weekend, get into it, yeah, and you find
yourself in there just going what is going on? I
mean for people who can vote the East as well,
they just they come over here and it's like they
just lose all their inhibitions and sense of controller somewhere
on the border and they come here and just go
all right, let's get loose, and they.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Love it and that's why they come back year after
year after year. Tim, we will see you on the weekend.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
We'll be hanging around the phone room on Sunday Monday morning,
so we'll see you there.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah, and in the makeup room to Chris.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I'm breaking there from the early house, just in casees
in early all right.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
I love having a contact, Thank
Speaker 1 (07:31):
You, mister telephone or one of them anyway, Yes see
Tim
