Speaker 1 (00:00):
People talking about Ali Brigginshaw. She joins us, Now, good morning, Ali,
how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Good morning?
Speaker 1 (00:04):
We're right behind you on this. I mean, your wife,
Kate's going to social media on Thursday last week and
condemning some awful treatment that you've had, especially after the
series so far. Now, can you just go through what
she found on social media?
Speaker 3 (00:20):
What's been sent to you?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:21):
And what's been sent to you?
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Well I've jumped off social media, so I don't see
any of it. But I think it all came about
that Kate jumped on to post on my behalf and
went on to get rid of all the hate that
was through there. So there was disgusting messages and just
something that no one should ever be sent. So I
think for her reading that, it was just like she
(00:45):
had enough. She sees it through all the comments and
all the family see it. So I think you come
to a point where you just have to stand up
for the person you love, and that's what she did.
And it was sad for me to see how upset
she was over the comments. Yeah, we're going through a
tough time, but what's the saddest part is some of
it actually comes from you know, just people that are jealous,
(01:08):
and of.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Course, yeah, I mean Marnie and I get hate mail
all the time, you know, all the time where people
just say terrible things about us and I don't even
know us.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
He is the thing, Ali, I mean, like it is
the age old, isn't it Like you? I was always
brought up and I say the same to my kids.
You might not agree with something, but you don't need
to go and say I think before you open your mouth.
And this is the problem with social media. People think
they can say anything allian.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
They don't.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
They don't realize that on the other end of that
that is a person that does have a family and
does have feelings. You don't need to agree with everyone,
but you don't need to be rude, you don't need
to be offensive, you don't need to speak like that.
It's just not it's not on. And you know, I
really loathe social media for that. I just think it's
it's become a platfu.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
You've got the keyboard warriors, yes, instead of having.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
A platform to support each other and boost each other.
But people that's where they go, you know, they go
all the time, and just because what so Ali's there
and she's doing what she loves and she's representing you know,
us as a side that you think that you have
a right to go and speak to people like that.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
No, no, not at all.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah, it's terrible, man, And that's something that you do,
like you love it. You put so much time and
do your sacrifice so much. I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yeah, what's happening in your life as well? Like you know,
like it's it's just it's rude, man. I'm so sorry
for you. Like, it's just I know we see it
all the time, but it's actually not okay, it's just
not okay.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Are you okay?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Ali?
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Is Kate Okay?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yep, We're doing okay. We've got each other and the
team and everyone's being so supportive and lots of the
community of being so supportive. So we're all doing okay.
But and I've got a job to do on Thursday nights,
so my focus just switches to that game.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yes, And talking about Thursday night, you're moving to Locke,
that's going to be a big night for you.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah. I'm willing to do whatever the team needs, So
whatever position it is, and however many minutes I play,
I'll just do what the team needs and we've got
a good focus in here this week that we just
want to get the job done and do Queensland proud.
So yeah, that's our big focus for this week.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, exactly, good job to do.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
That's what she's focused on doing. You've got great supportive
people around you and there's a lot that do Ali,
so you know that's and it is hard, isn't it.
It's hard to sometimes focus on that, but you do.
You've got to put it over here and go this
is what I'm going to this is what I'm going
to do, and we're behind your mate. So yeah, keep
on an.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Ipswich legend, Ipswich champion. We love you and and anything
we can do to help. Just feel free to give
us call any time. Ali, And your tip for Wednesday night.
