Speaker 1 (00:00):
This just broke morning a great friend of mine, Ray Woods,
in Liverpool. He was only five meters from the incident.
Good morning, Ray, how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, good, Paul, A little bit shook up from the
events that we've seen unfortunately this afternoon and Liverpool.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
I can't believe it, but I live and the kids
and your family. You were with friends as well.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, so I was there with my two daughters and
my brother and his wife and the three children. And yeah,
we were literally five meters away from where the incident
took place. In the face we knew of it. We
were asked to depart the restaurant where we were because
the quote the words that was said to us that
they needed to start carrying bodies into the restaurant to
use it for the police.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yea.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
And then when we actually left the restaurants, it was
probably yeah, two three hundred police presence dogs, shooters on roofs,
and yeah, it was all playing out in front of.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
As goodness me. Wow. Okay, So looking at reports at
the moment, they're saying they're not obviously this has happened,
how this has happened, and why this has happened. They're
not sure. They are asking us not to speculate at
the moment, but obviously they're questioning the man involved.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, the same on the news. I understand why they're
saying it was like a collision, but yeah, it definitely
wasn't a collision. The man who was in control of
the vehicle was driving it into the crowds repeatedly. We're
seeing an excess of thirty to forty bodies on the floor.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
It was pretty disturbing, that's all right, Absolutely horrific. Oh terrible.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
We know Ray's family and my daughter's traveled with.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yes, well, first, I'm glad that you're okay.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, we're glad you're okay.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Right, Yeah, it was such a it's been such a
celebrated day. I believed he was over a million people
in Liverpool to celebrate the Premier League title today and
we were there, and it's quite scary how something can
happen and it can all change really quickly and really fast.
And yeah, it was just a really sad end to
(02:00):
the day. And I just get me thoughts and praiers
it out with the families of the people who have
been affected, because it doesn't look good.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
That is absolutely terrible.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
How are your kids mightn't. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, we had about a ten to twelve k track
out of the city center of Liverpool because it was
like locked down. There's been Yeah, we were told there
was another incident as well, which I don't believe is
being announced yet, but there was two incidents in the
city center at the same time, so I'm not speculating,
but from yeah on good sources on the ground, something
(02:35):
else has happens unfortunately in Liverpool as well.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Goodness me, right, what a what a terrible tragic thing
to happen, as you said, on a time where people
are gathering to celebrate.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, yeah, it's just I think an example of the
scary world that we live in. And I think that
anyone listening in just yeah, give your loved ones and
your families a hook, as you just at the moment,
and something like this can happen and things can be
taken away from you so quickly.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, very true, very very true. Well, I'm glad you're okay,
Thank you for chatting with me. Thanks Ray, after such
a horrific experience. Obviously, it's a story that's unfolding at
the moment. It's only you know, we're only just getting
to hear about it at the moment, So make you
look after yourself.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, will Thanks for the call, guys, Thanks Campo.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
No worries. Ray ray Wood, good friend of mine, Marney
and his family just only meet us away from this tragedy.
