Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, we mentioned it earlier MANI about Netflix YouTube with
their AI commercials. Our tech guru from FTP dot Com
Trev Long joins us Hey Trev porting on very well,
this new thing for Netflix and YouTube using AI generated commercials.
What can we expect with that sort of technology.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, two different technologies at play here. Firstly, if you've
got the ad supported version of Netflix, so you're already
seeing ads. When you press play on a show, you'll
see an AD. Sometimes during a longer show you'll see
an AD. So you're basically on the lowest paying tier.
I think it's like seven ninety nine a month. Basically
next year it's going to be a while away, but
next year they're going to allow the creation of generative advertisement.
(00:39):
So what it'll do is it'll look at who you are,
what you've been watching, and it'll create an AD just
to you. And just think about how targeted ads already
are because they know broadly who you are and what
you do. These things are going to be even more targeted.
So I might even talk about the shows you've watched
and then try and sell you a product. So it's
going to be very personalized. It's going to feel very raw.
(01:00):
And that's going to work. It's going to make people,
I don't know, click, it's going to make people search,
it's going to make people take action. So that's how
Netflix is going to embrace AI, whereas Google is going
to look at YouTube and say look, rather than just
running out at the start of a video and allowing
creators to put ad placements during a video, they're going
(01:21):
to use analytics to combine with AI to find the
most active, the peak moments in a video. And when
you get to that peak moment, it's going to go
to an ad. Just roll that ad automatically whenever it's
the most juicy part of the video.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Wow, that's frustrating that it's intrusive.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Well, that's content. I mean the thing here is, look,
it's really simple to avoid pay more. You know, if
you want the non ad supported version of Netflix, you
got to pay more. But they keep jacking the price
of that up. YouTube the same. I mean, I haven't
sent an AD on YouTube for years because I pay
YouTube premium, and I think, to be honest, if it
is the last thing I get rid of cutting back
(02:00):
because you probably use YouTube more than anything else. But
YouTube premium has gone up as well, so they're just
gouging us for money now that we are hooked on
their service. Yeah, we'll leave it there.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Thank you so much, Trev.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
My pleasure,
