Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, Hello, Hello, Space Ice.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
The Space Ace is here.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Welcome to the Sharks.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Thank you. I'm very happy to be on the show.
I'm sitting in my studio in southern California. What do
you got? What do you got from me?

Speaker 3 (00:14):
It's pretty exciting.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm going
to be opening up for Jane. We'll probably do some
stuff together. Who knows, you know, Jean's doing his Vault experience.
But I believe we're only doing four shows in Australia
and then we're going to Japan. But we actually went
to Japan before we performed our first show in Australia.
I think our first show tour of Japan was I

(00:37):
think seventy six or seventy seven. We had a great time.
You know, there were five thousand kids waiting for us
at the airport, and it was kind of like the
Beatles coming to America, you know, to make a parallel.
At one point in time, we were one of the
biggest bands in the world internationally, so it was kind
of like riding a roller coaster, you know. It was

(01:00):
one continuous party and constantly touring, or if not touring,
we'd be recording and it was pretty crazy, but a
lot of fun and a lot of fund memories.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Before they unmasked. You left the end in eighty two,
but you were a founding member. How hard was it
to leave Kiss?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I think it was the right move at the time,
you know, because I had many quarrels of Paul, Jean
and Bob Ezma. But one of the reasons I left
the group. You know, if you can't communicate and no
them pays attention to what you're saying, then you know
it's time to move on.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah, over the years, have you kept in touch? And
what's that been?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Like a week ago, I called Paul on the phone
and you know, we spoke for twenty minutes about everything
under the sun. I wasn't aware of the fact that
he knew that Gibson Guitars one chapter eleven, you know,
they claimed bankruptcy, you know, So we talked about that.
We talked about future stuff. We talked about the Kiss
Cruise that I'm going to be performing on with them,

(02:02):
talked about the weather, as.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
You do when you're catching up with a mate. That's rot.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I couldn't get them off the phone.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Actually, as your health these duys, mind, you know how
old are you?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I turned sixty seven in April, and me and Paul
the two youngest guys in the band. Me and Paul
is sixty eight seven, Jeene's is going to be sixty nine,
and Peter Chrish is seventy two. I just got a
clean bill of health from my doctor and I've never
felt better, you know. And I think the fact that
I've been so for twelve years, you know, has helped

(02:33):
that along. On stage, you know, you know genius, the
stick thist, tongue down my throat, yeah, Paul. Stage people
used to wonder what was going on and whether you know,
anything happened backstage. But backstage, you know, all we'd be
doing is touching up our makeup and grabbing a drink
and getting ready to go back out. You know, I'd

(02:54):
be thinking about, you know, the party.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
As most rock and roll styles do. That's wrong.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Is there something in your history that you can tell
our listeners that you've never told anyone before the.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
First time we came to Australia in nineteen eighties, we
had a fantastic time. You know. We got the key
from the Lord Mayor in Sydney. The promoter was just
a terrific guy. And he had Australian models for us
in every city, and the champagne was just NonStop. In fact,

(03:26):
now that I remember it, and this is something that
not everybody else. We drank all the Don Perry on
in Australia. They have to import more.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
They cleaned us out. What an effort. I love it.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
And on that tour, I remember bumping and remember going
to a Japanese restaurant and bumping into Elton John. And
I know there's photos of kissing Elton John floating around
on that tour. It was a wonderful time in my life.
I remember very fondly on this too. I'll be bringing
my fiance Rachel Gordon. I haven't asked to the glass

(03:59):
of Champagne in twelve years. Nice.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Really, thank you so much, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Thank you guys, thanks for having me on. We'll see
you in August.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
