Speaker 1 (00:00):
They're calling it the block shocker, some people walking away
with nothing money. Here is Scottie Cam explaining what happens
now for our block contestants.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Auctions certainly delivered up some drama. We had some big
highs and some low lowers. Were gutted that some of
the houses didn't sell, But thankfully those contestants still have
a chance to be rewarded for their hard work as
their homes go back on the market tomorrow. It seems
selling five houses on the same day in Dalesford was
(00:28):
possibly a bit of.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
A tall order.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
I'm sure you'll join me though, in congratulating our winners
of the Block twenty twenty five, taking home a profit
four hundred and twenty thousand dollars plus the grand prize
of one hundred thousand bus Congratulations Britain Taz.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Well, some would say it was a disaster for many
of the block contestants money not for Britain TAZ. How
are you guys? Great? Thank you congratulations.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Firstly, congratulations guys.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Thanks so much, really appreciated and lovely be able to
chat youse about it too.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Now you're you're up five hundred and thirty thousand.
Speaker 5 (01:06):
Was it twenty, but are you going to.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Chat in an extra ten?
Speaker 3 (01:11):
So the rest of the contestants.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Amazing, I mean, well, yes, congratulations for you guys. But
I think for a long the first time in a
long time, we just saw some stuff that we really
didn't think we'd see, which is, you know, some places
even passing in no bids nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Wow. Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
To be honest, it was really bittersweet for us.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
To watch like it was just so hard.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
We honestly thought we had gone in there and set you.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
Know, a really good time and we just thought everyone
was going to surpass up and we would have been
so over the moon with that because I think all
of us as the collective wanted everyone to.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Do well, and when that didn't happen, honestly, it was heartbreaking.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Of course, I said to Campo, and I've said this
too with to Shelley the other day when we were chatting,
I think this is one of the hardest reality TV
shows to do because there is so much involved and
to get to that point and it all wages down
to what you know we saw night. To walk away
with nothing after all of that must be a right
kick in the guts.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Yeah, And I think the mates that we've made along
the way in match we'll care makes forever, you know
what I mean, our best mates up the top of
the top of the hill, better than them. To not
get the results for their hard work is really really
hard to watch. And you know we've got to have
a BVM last night after after the results, and really
they're just the best people. But it's not the end
of them. You know that they'll sell their place. It's
(02:26):
too good, not too so that they'll walk away with something.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, why were the reserves so high?
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Who sets stuff independently set those reserves? Unfortunately, we don't
think it reflected the market at all. Obviously we got
really lucky with where we stood, but that was the
resulting a few things and Dragon buy them through. But
those reserves, they really put everyone on the back foot
and it were really really testing to swallow.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, a couple of the contests, they just looked devastated.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
You know you would be all that effort. Yeah, and
we were.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
One of them. We were like, how are we going
to over And credit to.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Our real estate agents and our and our auctioneer who
really set the bar high and really just set the tone.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, I reckon you were. You were lucky, you were
first up off cab, off the rank, because you know
that that's where all the money was.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
One hundred pun I mean like our first we were
a bit share.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
To go first, like we planned to stack in the
whole year and then to go first, you know, like
Ever sort of said, you know, you can set the pone.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
For everyone, and we wanted everyone to do well, so like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Absolutely, let's go first.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
And then you know, in hindsight, if we had have
gone back, and who knows what would have happened. Very true,
very true, No idea.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Well, as you said, five hundred and twenty grand, you've
walked away with that. So what does that mean for
you guys? Do you get to pay out your place?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah? Yeah, we get to look after the mortgage, which
is really really good, and get to set the kids up,
so you know, maybe maybe a little trip to the
sunny days one of these days. But it's it's a
really really good breath of fresh air. Like we were
working one of the tougher spots in all of Wa,
so to take a bit of a step back and
be able to take a breath and maybe pursue some
(04:06):
other things as well.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
As policing is something we're really looking forward to.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, good on you guys, congratulations, thank you so much
for joining us.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Good on them. Oh that's tough, that's funny.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Here's the thing. This is one of the reasons I
don't do it in Queensland, the auctions, because you know,
I was a license action here.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
It's different here.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
You can't you can't reveal the reserve here. In Queensland,
you know, they reveal that reserve down there and people
already know what to bid from.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Absolutely, just ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
I don't think it makes it fair. Like I look
to be honest with each to your own. I've never
been I've done one auction only, and I really didn't
enjoy the experience. I found it quite stressful. But each
to your own, I guess, and there's benefits for it.
I know real estate agents will wage in on that.
But you know, I do think and as he said,
in that situation, maybe too many houses on the market
in that area. Let them sit back now and negotiate
with someone and hopefully make a profit on what they've done.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's not fair on the guys who actually made it.
One hundred and ten thousand dollars. I think it was
because then Scott cam went on and made other deals
and negotiations for the other contestants and passed them in.
Those people get the opportunity to put their house back
on the market. These guys don't. And if the other
guys who passed in eventually get more money than those guys,
I'd be pissed.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, no, no, I get it, Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
Absolutely, There's nothing it's your biggest investment and it's always
a gamble and a risk when you do do that.
Hence me auctions unless you're really getting that top.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Price on the buyers there, and the reserve was out
of control. I feel sorry for him, Yeah, I do too.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
As I said, it's a tough show. It's not an
easy show to do anyway, tough for the contestants renovating
stuff without being on TV and having all that pressure anyway,
