Speaker 1 (00:00):
Vice president People and Culture from the Volvo Group. Jane Humphrey.
So I met at the truck show over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Okay, how to chat with this the other day?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Decided to tell us who was I'm just I'm shocking shock.
She decided to go and tell us who were the
better drivers driving trucks.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Here's Jane and what we.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Started to see. You know, research into driver behavior actually suggests.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
People may not like this a little bit controversial, but
women are actually superior drivers.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Jane, thank you for the interview. You know, Jane's.

Speaker 5 (00:34):
I'm ready to break the hearts of mail.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Jane, the phone's going on.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
The first person to call is our very own Dave Cullen,
Ipswitch Pro Drive teaches people how to drive trucks.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I guess who else is just called in?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Chloe Cullen, his daughter, Hello, Chloe, Right, your dad was.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Quicker on the phone than you, So.

Speaker 5 (00:59):
Absolutely Dave.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Jane Humphreys from Barbo was saying that females are better
drivers than mail truck drivers.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Agree or disagree or what have you noticed Dave on
teaching people.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
I tend to agree.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Oh okay, yeah, I tend.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
To agree, although I've got a little bit of a
problem here because my daughter thinks she's better than me,
but she isn't.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Oh, Chloe, Chloe, did your dad teach you how to drive.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
In return made me the better driver?

Speaker 5 (01:34):
You came with me in the truck.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Yes, but she does drive a truck, and I have
seen Chloe's skills. She's very good. Now, I'm not going
to wage him because you're like my other family, and
I don't want to get into the family argument of
who's better.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
No, that's just going to cause more arguments, Marty.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
The argument will start when we get off the phone.
I can tell you.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I can just.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
What make you a better driver than your dad? You know?
Do you is the turning? What do you do? Name
one thing?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Reversing, managing?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Just everything?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Everything? Okay?

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Everything better than dad? Oh jeez, well dad's actually having
a truck again today. How do you feel about that, Dave?

Speaker 5 (02:19):
What was that? I said?

Speaker 4 (02:20):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Look? If she's better than me, then I've done my
job as a parent. I think.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Teacher.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
I do know one thing though, she's one trophy that
truck shows, which I'm not very happy about because she
claims the trophies to be hers.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
And are they not?

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Well, they might trucks.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Technically, we got more females called ashes on the line today.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Ash, How are you going good? How are you right?
What truck do you drive?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I've got a twenty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Men at the moment, right, okay?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
And you, oh, Dave's still on the do you know
do you know?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Ash? Dave the truck.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Man truck see a man truck?

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Ash?

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Okay, it was a good deal.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Guys, Okay, do you agree? Do you think the women
truck drivers are actually better than our men?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yes? But I don't think it necessarily comes down to
better or worse. I think it comes down to a
lot of things like hazard perception, risk mitigation, often not
being as cocky or arrogant behind.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Now it gets.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Worse for some people.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
No, I get, I understand the perspective you're coming from.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Okay, Okay.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
On top of that, we're typically more cautious because we
know that we'll never live it down if we make
a mistake in the transport industry.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Right, okay, So like Chloe everything, Okay, Rebecca's on the line.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Get Rebecca that you drive a truck as well.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
I am.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I'm actually currently driving Okay, So what do you drive?

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Volvo? All right, so what do you agree.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
I do?

Speaker 5 (04:08):
I guess.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
I guess Ash touched on some of the things I
was thinking. But obviously you know you don't. You don't
want to make a mistake.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Because no one will let you know, let me forget it.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
But I think one of the main things I feel
is that maybe we're a bit nicer on the truck.
Nicer there, because I haven't had one, I know, okay
when you say nicer as in nicer to the other drivers,

(04:41):
or just nicer on the road or the way you
do things.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Nice to be other drivers.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
But yeah, but obviously I'm yeah, nicer on the equipment,
you know.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Not, So I get it.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
I mean, yes, maybe aout empathy talking to someone on
the get you right.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
Out of the because I've heard I've.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Heard those blokes on that with Dave Cullen come over
the two way.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
And I'm like, why do people look, I'm just from
the Port of Brisbane over here, just going to load
for Verell and these people will not get out of
my way.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Oh there you go.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
You sound like my daughter. Who's that idiot? Oh well,
thank you, Rebecca. Oh we're just gonna have the phones
haven't stopped. We don't have to screen all the calls.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Well, thank you, thank you everyone. Yes we'll continue, Yes
because there's a stack of people.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yes I do you want to hear from the blokes
we run?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Heard from Dave Gullen, who's now having to go at
another truck driver.
