Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mixed one or two point three maxinally in the morning. Now,
our little boy Sammy, Jammy absolutely stopped everyone in Rundel
moll By Well living out his lifelong dream of wanting
to be a police officer.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
He stopped everyone because you didn't have a choice. You
had to walk around a gigantic stage and Guy Sebastian
and Riley O'Brien and Alex Carey and the police force
and the horses.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
And he was arresting some of those great celebs. We
had a brilliant day for him because unfortunately his future
isn't looking so great now. One of the things though,
that nearly got him struck off being a sapole officer,
was well is ponchans wanting to blow things up.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
You've got to promise me that you are going to
help people. I promise to help people. I promised to
solve crimes.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
I promised to self crime.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
And I promised to catch criminals, promised criminals, and I
promised not to blow it up.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
He did say that you wanted to do that, Sammy,
but you might have to give it up. You have
to say.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
It well, try not to blow it up, all right.
They wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Please commission at Stevens. They're doing a stellar job, as
he always does. Well. We have an update now. Ali
is Sammy's mum. Good morning Ali.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Good morning guys, long time name here.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I know it's been so lovely. We've been keeping track
of how you guys are going. Is our boys?
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Sammy tracking physically and clinically. He's tracking amazing. He's still
very mobile, he's still loving life. He's still not in
any pain. Last time I spoke, I think there was
no further treatment available. Last week he was offered a
brand new clinical trial and part of that protocol for
getting onto that trial was to have a spinal MRI. Now,
(01:45):
he had a brain MRI last week, which confirmed a
little bit of change which I was expecting with his Yeah, yeah,
with his treatment, nothing too serious. But yesterday was just
a matter of just going through the motions of doing
it to get on the trial. Fortunately, I've got a
phone called that said there's two lesions now on his spine,
so unfortunately the cancer has spread to his spine, but
(02:07):
still they're very small, one near his shoulder blades and
there's one further down. They're not pressing on anything important.
He's not in any pain. He's still on his scooter
and still in the sprints on sports Day last week,
So he's love and life at the moment, and that's
all I care about.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
So, Ali, with this new treatment, this new trial you're
going into, will that help with what we've just discovered
about the spine? Is it going to assist at all?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Unfortunately, being a trial, it is exactly that it's an experiment.
Phase one of any trial is usually about dosing of
the medication and also side effects of the medication. But
we just have to wait and see. But Sammy and
his dad have both said they want to give it
a shot. Yea, so we're going to give it a shot.
So this one involved having a port surgically and put
under his skin so that he can have medications and
(02:52):
stuff like that, and then he will have to have
what's called a boldness, which is a really big dose
of a medication, and then he'll have to have infusions
every two weeks over forty five hours of this medicine
comping into him. Because at first, when I did offer
to him, I said it's new medicine and he said
no straight away, and then I said, what happens to
mate if your cancer decides wants to get really angry
and come back really strong. And he just said, well then,
(03:13):
and I'll be honest, he said, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Ali. What we have heard is that something might be
going on today to do with the afore mentioned blowing
up of what's going on.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
As you said, he mentioned on the radio that he
wants to blow up, and Frant has been amazing. He
has reached out to us in private and offered for
Sammy to go to the explosive unit. And we are
going to be blowing up today.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, Oh my god, I cannot wait to see his face.
I would love to get up there and to give
him a cuddle and newer cuddle two girl, And.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
What I want to give you a big cuddle two Yes,
definitely deserve one as well.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
All right, cuddles all round, all right. So today our
sergeant Sammy is going to be blowing.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
I think Grant is secretly the one that's most excited about.
I think Grant's the one that says, I reckon, I'd
like to blow him stuff up. I'll tell me to
do that.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Hey, Ali, will see you very soon. In the meantime,
I'm really sorry and all of us I know are
very very sorry for that setback, but I cannot wait
for all of us to be able to be there
as he takes that next step in his policing career.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
That it was part of the journey, unfortunately, and that
was yesterday and today's today. So we're going to do
it with a smile today and love every moment
