Speaker 1 (00:00):
For I've been talking about Rebel Wilson because she's all
over the news this morning. In the last twenty four hours,
she drops more bombshells. This has nothing to do with
the Sasha Baron Cohen.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Oh no, this had dropped about three am this morning.
So she's obviously living in the States. But she's got
a little Aussie musical called The deb and she is
a first time director on it. And basically she's come
out overnight saying that the executives attached to this film,
we're doing some pretty terrible things.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
So I said, reported, I guess you would say they're
bad behavior when I found out big things, you know,
inappropriate behavior towards the lead actress of the film in
bazzling funds, really important.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Things, massive damaging claims, and she has name names.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
There are three people involved and she has named them. So,
of course, about an hour ago, a producer's statement has
come out. It says Rebel Wilson's allegations are false, defamatory,
and disappointing her self. Promotional claims are clearly intended to
cause reputational damage to the individuals who have supported her
directorial debut film, The deb A joyous movie that we're
(01:09):
very proud of and are looking forward to sharing with audiences.
For her to promote a false narrative to advance her
own agenda undermines the film and all the people who
worked on this project.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Okay, because if you missed the story earlier, it was
supposed to be they were talking about using that film
to close the Toronto Film Festival. The producer said no,
under no circumstances, according to according to Rebel, and now
this is her reaction, is now naming names, throwing out
some bombs, which you think she's going to be in
some legal trouble with.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
But you know Rebel Wilson Melbuddle.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Yes, Rebel and I are attached to the same Australian
management company. So the same block who rings me up
and says, Mel, do you want to go to Dubbo
for three hundred bucks rings her with I imagine very
similar offers. So I was Rebel a tiny little bit
and she is very smart. She's very business savvy. She
has her eyes on the prize, she's very focused on
(02:05):
her goals. She also has a law degree, so she
must know what she's doing. She does have a law degree.
I didn't know that butchel of art's butchel of laws.
So she must be aware that what she has done,
I guess, could have some consequences, and she must be
willing to take them. I reckon she might be on
a slightly different pay band to us, if I had
(02:28):
to guess. But I think I saw that. I was like,
My first reaction was, oh my gosh, I can't believe
she's name names what she doing. My second reaction was,
wouldn't that be nice? Wouldn't it be nice to just sick.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
To not care? And this person, this person was that m.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
H and be so comfortable.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Is there any chance though, that she is the pain
in the butt?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
I don't. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
I don't have you ever seen that? I mean, it's
the thing is and Kip and I were talking about this,
the whole stuff with Sasha Baron Cohen. It's not that
long ago, and it's a similar I mean, it's very
very different, but it's her getting out on the front foot.
I've been quite full on about it.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I reckon it's going to affect her career. I reckon,
even if you're a clean skin, if you're in this,
if you're in that business and you're absolutely clean, You
don't do anything wrong. But you're thinking, now, this person
knowing that our council cancel culture, knowing that if someone
goes out and says you did this, regardless of proof
or whatever, that it ruins your career. So by working
(03:27):
with her and knowing that she is happy to go
out and drop bombs like that, I reckon it would
be scary.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
I see that. I also see her maybe having a
bit of a guartfull, and maybe this is I think
if the Me Too movement hadn't happened, maybe she wouldn't
have made this video. I think it's a time where
I think everyone's a bit sick of towing the line
and behaving themselves and not being difficult to work with.
I also think she probably has her own production company,
(03:54):
a lot of money and can just make a next
movie without anyone's help. Probably, I don't know if she
would have been hard to work with or what the
issues might have been. I know a couple of people
who are in that film. They said anything, They have
not said anything. They've not messaged me this morning at
three am once Robert, but I didn't get I found
(04:15):
really easy and efficient to work with, and you.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Want you want, you really want women to have a voice,
right you really? If this is if this is what
is going on for generations and generations women particularly haven't
and you don't see women going on the front foot
on this sort of level. So if that is the case,
and she totally is in her rights, aimen to her.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well you don't. You don't make those claims unless the
truth is going to back you up, because otherwise she's
in big trouble. So you have to think that she
knows what she knows and that she's got proof.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Let's wait and see.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, well, thanks for coming in Belco to see you,
and thank you for all YELP. While I was away
with Sianna and everything.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
You're I chatted a little bit about and I didn't
press any buttons. Your emails have not been.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Touched here, okay, thank you. So I've still got seventeen
thousand unopened, actually know them?
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Thanks, It's Robin and on Brisbane's Kiss ninety seven three.
