Speaker 1 (00:00):
Maroon five, There's love It's Robin and Kip. Kisses ninety
seven to three were choreo's with.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Us to finish.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
All right, just a brief brief footy chat. Broncos had
a bye last week, but it's finally finally got the
two points. Are you playing this weekend? What's happening? No? Okay,
sorry mate, I shouldn't have asked. All right, So and
what about just just quickly, do you have a team, like,
given that the Broncos are pretty much there's a mathematical
(00:38):
chance of them getting into the finals, do you generally
have a team that you sort of switched to the
hope that they win, Like for me, I'll probably hope
that the Cowboys might see the finals in the storm.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Yeah, I'm gonna want to hear my answer. I'm not
going to stay until it's mathematics.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
We'll take it out, Okay next week.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Fair enough?
Speaker 3 (00:57):
So I don't want to come Yeah, okay.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
Let's it's going to say things like parenting.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yes, because Raphael, my five year old, we race every
time we go up the stairs. He's like, let's race,
let's race, And it's great because you get him up
to bed. But if I let him win ninety percent
of the time, but every now and then I'll get
myself up there first and he cracks it. You can't
stand losing, And what are you supposed to do? You
let your kids win?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, well look I'm one of those. Yeah, I'm similar.
If I'm playing the game like Monty loves playing there,
you know, you flip the cards over and if you
don't find the pears or you know, pairs memory the
memory games, Yes, I feel the memory games are really good.
And I kind of like doing them for myself too,
because you never to have a memory game. Yes, if
(01:47):
you get on a run of like two or three pairs,
you just I just watched Monte's faces like real sad
and starting open and start like getting real serious. Come on,
and then and I'll if I've won the game, we'll
play another game and then she'll win. I'll let her win. Okay,
(02:08):
We'll play like honestly eight games of this thing. Yeah,
and then if she gets like three or four in front,
I'll just win every game game.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
You can't help it.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
But then if but at the start she started getting
you know, getting cranking at the ships. But now she's
not too bad she's oh, you know, it's a drawer
so that we both win. That's great, Dad, Like you know,
so you said, she used to be like, I don't
like losing, Like you've got to learn to lose. I'm like, Monta,
you can't always win.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
I'm guessing though, in your ural Queensland upbringing, you were
never allowed to win.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
No, I used to get beaten and everything to be fair.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
But what's your sibling situation?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
My brother he's four years older. Three okay, I get
yeah flogged.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
And that was good for you.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
I bet like that made you that, I made you
try yea and to.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Call me Mummy's boy. And I don't care you get
in trouble anyway.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
But a lot of a lot of elite athletes were
little little brothers, little sisters that had to beat their
older ones to become the best.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
You know, the backyard footy one on one, Yeah, full
for that dummy. You know who's your passing? The Boddy thing?
Ton't know what.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
This is going to be a question? Thirteen one oh
six five. I think this is again going to be
a question where everyone's going to say one thing, but
they may do another. Jess, what do you reckon? About this.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Definitely, do not let your kids win. I am that
very competitive mum one of I've got three children, and unfortunately,
even if you let them give them a little then
then they just expect it the whole way round. And
the problem is that in life there's always got to
be winners, winners and losers. So definitely don't let you
kids win.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Okay, can I can I ask you something? They Jess,
I had three sons, and my kids are all really
spooty and really competitive. The problem that I faced with
the younger two in the beginning was that their elder
brother was great at everything and if they didn't get
some little minor wins along the way, they got really
deflated and wouldn't do it. And I don't think that's
(04:19):
right either.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Yeah, I get that, but we're kind of going into
society where you know, everybody gets a medal at the
endything in soccer instead of you know, best team wins,
and in life really there is winners and losers, and
you know, you've just got to They've gotta sometimes have
knocks in life to get themselves back up and be
better at it.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, you wouldn't watch the Olympics if everyone got a medal?
Speaker 4 (04:42):
No, I did, no way did my kids? Did everyone
get a medal? I used suggest master games that were
better for the middle kid? Oh yeah, okay, so you know,
like no one ever realized that that was actually they
were having a cheese the Arabella of burkedout, what do
you reckon? Yes or no?
Speaker 5 (05:00):
So I'm not actually a mom. I have a younger brother.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, and I'm a.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
Very sore loser myself, Arabella. I'm seventeen, okay, and for contact,
my brother's seven, and you.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Must let him win sometimes, Arabella.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
No.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Island.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
How many children have you got made?
Speaker 6 (05:27):
Five boys and five girls?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Man, you're a man. Yeah you're Do you want to
try fishing or anything else?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Any other hobbies? Kevin?
Speaker 5 (05:40):
Let it be.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
It should be on the book.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
What do you reckon?
Speaker 6 (05:47):
It depends on the day. But I usually let my
kids win every now and then. So if it was
the out of five, I'd let him win twice twice,
and then I'd win the other three.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
I've always got to be the main winner.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
You would have to keep a notebook to know who's one. Well, okay,
fair enough Kevin and Heidi. Now, Heidi, some of all
from Heidi's Counseling centers. She is actually a dear friend
of the show. But you have something very interesting to say.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
I do two things. One, Kip, you're totally doing the
right thing. It's our drivers' parents to teach and get
them ready for the real world. So I think letting
him win most of the time and then getting him
used to occasionally you've got to take a loss is perfect.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Welcome, thank you.
Speaker 6 (06:35):
The other thing that occurred to me having Corey on
the show this morning, my sister was married to Lottie
Takiri for twenty years, so I think is as of
third Broncos now and I remember hearing stories and you know,
meeting all of his family over the years. It was
his older brother who was the football star and the family.
Nobody had eyes on Lottie at all, and he would
(06:56):
tell me stories about being in the backyard and he'd
practice his sides set with chickens because nobody was looking
him and they were all off watching his brother. So
it really gave him the hunger to work hard and
be seen.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
So those chickens, it's because of terrified chickens and feeds.
Thanks thanks Siety. We're going to get the news. Thank you, Corey,
good to see you.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
That's all right.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Thanks, it's Robin on Brisbane's Kiss ninety seven three
