Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Robin and Keith for breakfast Break. You're listening to
the Robin and Kik podcast break.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Good Day, It's Robin and Kipp on demand the podcast
half Time. We didn't get a chance to properly delve
into the man bag issue with Travis Kelce and Taller Sis.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Let's do that? You said, I'm intrigued, are you? Yes?
A little diserved?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Okay, you're listening to the Robin and kid podcast. A
finish but worry.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yes, Speaking of finishes, the coryos who joins us now
Thursday night for the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Who it just looks like those like do we have
to dumb button?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
That was a That was a tough way to finish
the season, wasn't it? Mate?

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:03):
That was hard and I'm sure for everyone to watch
that was but that would have been hard.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
So what happened?

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I actually I really couldn't tell you. I just I could.
I just feel like it's sort of summed up. I
guess the season we had and they're the best team
in the camp for a reason. Yes, And I feel
like that game sort of showed. There were parts of
that game where I was like, you know, we're on top.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
We getting over.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
You know, we're doing our job, we're doing well, and
then you know we drop the ball or penalty against
them then or you know, just completely stuffed up. And
I feelt like that just summed up our season just
because you know, I felt that's just how the whole
season went. We had a great start, really good role
on and then just from there it was a massive

(01:48):
fight after twelve rounds.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
So yeah, so you reckon the store.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I think the Storm will be Grand finalists. You reckon yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Yeah, and who So that's that's the one I think
is the hard one. Like Storm can be beaten, but
I don't feel like they can be, Like just with
how they are playing at the moment, even when they're
gonna even then they're like that gritty fight, they will
for some reason find a way out I always do,

(02:18):
and then they'll just and they will score two or
three tries.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So fas so is it in the head, You're just
like where they come from.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Like they just are unbeatable in their own minds, because.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
I feel like they've got a really good mix at
the moment. They just know, you know, they're so skillful,
but they all work so hard for each other. And
you know when you get all that working together and
you know, come together every week and every week they've
done that and they're like, it's pretty hard to stop.
And Jerome he is I don't know, he's just he's

(02:49):
making that and I look so easy at the moment.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
So no, it's not, it's not that he is.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
And so, so what happens now for the Bronx You
guys the games over you had, Yeah, your mad Monday
on Friday, that stay care of.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
So what happens now for the team? Is it is
everyone on holidays?

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Well, yeah, they kind of start I think today tomorrow meeting, so.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
They short of wrap the year up.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
You have all your performance meetings, coach meetings, and then
your medical stuff and if you need to get things fixed,
surgery or they'll tell you what to look after.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
And so you said to us last week that and
you know, if you want to tell us anything, go ahead.
But you said that that you are really good at
convincing people. So is this the time that you go
into the club and do well?

Speaker 4 (03:38):
My performance on Thursday wasn't on the start, That's all
I know.

Speaker 6 (03:44):
Do you.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Will you struggle?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
You've got such a you had such an awesome career.
Will you struggle to make that your final?

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Final?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Outing?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, that's what a lot of people have said.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
And look, and that's why I said, it's not going
to be an easy decision no matter what I do.
You know, I feel like it's getting a lot harder
to keep going. But you know, I've enjoyed a lot
of the games I've played this year, and that's that's
the part you need to understand. If you're still enjoying it,
you know, if they're still enjoyment and you know, unhappiness

(04:16):
and in the game, like it's it's really hard to stop.
So yeah, that's why I keep saying it's going to
be a decision for the whole family sort of thing.

Speaker 7 (04:24):
Okay, So and one that's still pending, then, yeah, it is.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
It is still pending. ILL promise you that.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Before you tell us, I will come after you.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Yeah, I'll tell you that. I'll tell you if I
sign or okay, if that's it, so.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Okay, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, also before the weekend, we knew that the Broncos
were done regardless of the result on Thursday night, so
we asked for any local teams that needed to pump up.
We had three people that you made special videos for.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
You spoke to them there.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
Well we don't we don't know how, but we're going
to get them back up. And then the didn't tell
us share of us.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Ok I measure if they all got smashed by forty.
That's my career speak.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
It's not your responsible.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Let's get an update on the kids.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Next.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
You're listening to the Robin and Jed podcast.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Coreys as we ust.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
To finished.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
And knowing that the Broncos season was over regardless of result.
On Thursday night, we we had Corey talk to a
few people who had big Grand finals on this weekend.
Give them a nice pump up, we said, videos for
them as well. You spoke to one air Yeah that.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
Was two boys and a girl, Olie Thomas, and it
was Hannah the netballer. I mean, you had no idea
what you were talking about with netble, but man, you
you pumped him up.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Results results time.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Let's talk with Ollie at a Jim Boomber So Ollie
under thirteens you were playing in rugby league.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Yeah, sure, is okay?

Speaker 5 (06:10):
What happened mate?

Speaker 8 (06:12):
We got runners up?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Oh okay, that's good.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Yeah, that's that's the positive.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
Part.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Okay, I just enjoy it, mate, It's sometimes hard.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
But did you end up sharing the video? Did the
other other players see the video before the game and stuff?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yeah? They did?

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Didn't work.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Ollie? Did you play well?

Speaker 8 (06:37):
Yeah? Play right?

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Oh mate?

Speaker 3 (06:39):
It's always next year. It is hurt for next year.
That's all right.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yeah, take it next year, take it next time you
versus the same thing?

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Yeah, yeah, that doesn't sound okay, okay. Thomas Thomas of
Tanamir High, Hi, good, what happened?

Speaker 3 (06:56):
So we took on the shopwerds we won eighteen?

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Yeah, thank god, that's all I need, just one.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I just needed one champion, thank you. So what was
the final score to eighteen twenty.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Video?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
I just got it the difference?

Speaker 5 (07:14):
And how did you play?

Speaker 9 (07:15):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Average?

Speaker 8 (07:17):
I played pretty well?

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Pretty well? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Pretty well?

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Did you score the winning try? Kicked the winning goals?
Any points for you? Thomas?

Speaker 9 (07:26):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (07:27):
No?

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Team player?

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Okay? And and did Corey help you? Was that the
winning thing?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Yeah? I think I think the video I did help
was shared it with everyone, and I don't know's what
pross over the lines? Thomas?

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Okay. Hannah of Cleveland, Hi, Hi.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
So what now you were doing? Under thirteen's netball. And
how what was the result in the grand final?

Speaker 8 (07:54):
We won and the score was sixteen to twenty one sixteen.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
That's convincing, convincing.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
And how did you go mate?

Speaker 8 (08:02):
I was off for most of the game, but in
the end I did pretty well.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
That's good, great solid work.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
Well and did Corey help with all that?

Speaker 8 (08:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (08:15):
What did you play? It was a gold attack, gold
of fans. Wing defense. I know you gave us wing
defense and goalkeeper.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Stopping other teams getting their goals in and you did
a pretty good job. Well done, Thank you.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
I heard it on Okay, mate, it doesn't mean there's
three more this morning.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
They're all done right, it's all finished.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
There's still plenty of other sports.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Can I read just before we go to news, Corey,
can I read you something? This was on the Mighty
Brisbane Broncos facebook page. It's a lot of fans and things,
so this there was a from walou Rundu who wrote,
who wrote a lovely, huge story, But I'll just read
you a little bit of it starts with tears rolled
down seeing sun Corp for the last time, cheering on
the veteran winger Cory Oats, and then he went into

(08:58):
a lot about your career, and then he said seeing
him leave like this is heartbreaking unless he decides to
hang his boots in retirement. Thanks for the memories, O,
best of luck for you in your future endeavors, lots
of love, and then a horse the horse sign And
this has got thousands of people just going absolutely concur
And yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
I haven't seen a lot, but i've Yeah, my wife
sort of showed me a fair few, but it was
it was hard, like you know, I hope it isn't,
but I sort of I kept the emotions pretty well
until right at the end, like when I walked back
to the tunnel, just because I guess you've you've ran.
I've run out that tunnel so many times and and

(09:37):
and also walk back in. And so many big games
and for so many big different well big teams, you know,
for Origin and for Broncs.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
So can I ask you, do you think all the
other players will be back? Do you think that everyone
that we saw on the pitch this season will come
back for next season?

Speaker 4 (09:53):
Yeah, unless they want to go somewhere else or if
the contracts are finished.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
But I'm pretty su sure.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
You know the squad's going to be fairly similar to
this year.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Would you make any changes if you.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Were, I wouldn't. I still believe it's a it's a
really good squad. It's just like I said, it was
just those fine little details in in games. And I
really thought that the game on Thursday was just a
prime example of that. Just we didn't execute it or
finish off sets and plays like we did the year before.
And that's what wins your games, your execution and the

(10:30):
way you finish sets and where you finish that, and
you know, just those small things make a big difference.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
So I want to read you one more bit before
you go.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Corey, seeing him waving and walking into the sheds with
his daughter and son was worrying because we can support
a team, but we have our favorites in the team,
and Oates is everyone's favorite.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
I love him. Oh that's nice, going to hit me emotion.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
But it's just, you know, and that's why it always
is a lot harder, you know. It's it's also the fans,
and you know, they've been great. They're the best fans
in the game. You know, the ones that are actual
fans are not just average part of the they're honestly
the best fans.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
They're always supportive.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
And you know they're always they show up every week
and and support the team and mate.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
So to you you.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
That's all right, Yeah, yeah, honestly, yeah, it's it made
it hard last Thursday. So it's just that's the last
thing I want to finish on. But yeah, I've got
a big decision in the next sort of three four weeks.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
We'll have your next week.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
You're contracted.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Contractors. Keeps rolling, I'll see you next week the.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Robin and podcast.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
I've been sitting on this for a little while because
remember a couple of maybe like six weeks, I went
and did this amazing festival up on the Sunny coast.
There was a food and wine festival, and one of
the things you could do was go on an afternoon
like sunset whale tour, yes, where you got to eat
like local prawns and have local wine and beer and

(12:16):
go out and see the whales breaching.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
And so I went up to Milullavar and I went
out on this whale boat and there was this great
skipper by the name of Johnny who was chatting to
all of us about the whales and giving us a
bit of history. But then he said something extraordinary. This
is it.

Speaker 10 (12:35):
Last year we had an uncanny occurrence happening on our
swim with whales vessels. One of our skippers is a
big fan of mister Darrell Breakway and the song Horses, Yeah, Soul,
we come back to the shop.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
As you say, Johnny was playing horses today and the
whales were breaching. The whales were breaching, And.

Speaker 10 (12:53):
This happened over and over and over again last year.
So this became the theme song for the Humpback Ros
of twenty twenty three. Every time we played Darl Raithway's Horses,
the whales was start to breach.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
So but you're not playing it overly loud like so
they hear.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
They have incredible hearing.

Speaker 10 (13:10):
They would definitely be able to hear it from the
boat even when they're writing down through the whole.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
I would imagine.

Speaker 10 (13:14):
I mean, these are whales that are listening to the
songs of other whales for up to ten thousands way.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Wow, you don't believe it? Of course I do that.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
Ye listen to one of Australia's most iconic Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Well, and as soon as this play is the whales
start breaching.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Yes, apparently.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
It's chance, it's pure chance.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
It's not chance, it's not it's.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Exactly what it's exactly.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
Can we get the skipper on that that happened to Johnny? No, No,
we've just spoken to Johnny said it was another skipper
that was taking out because of this, and I think
it's a woman.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Yes, And then he's talking to me, stopping to go away.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
All right, we're all right, so yeah, so we'll get
the other skipper. We'll get the other skipper, and she's
going to tell us that the horses is.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Making wales breach. Yes, okay, sure, good come.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
On if if yes, we get her on tomorrow, and
if she says it's a thing, yes, surely we could
try and prove it.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Does it mean we all get to go out while watching, Yes,
I'll be part of that then, and then we.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Can play horses and see if the whales breach.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
And then we have to play other songs to see
if it has the exact same response, because I'm sure
it will.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
It's just a sound.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
I don't think. I don't think whales like tato.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
All right, so we'll shake it off. We'll shake it off.
We'll be the lipmus test. I like it, okay, so
shake it off's the placebo.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
And then if they if they breach to shake it off,
we know it's nothing to do with Daryl.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
Okay, but if they breach to horses.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Well that'll be amazing.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
How cool would that be?

Speaker 3 (14:54):
It would actually be very And they can hear what
did Johnny say?

Speaker 5 (14:56):
They can hear like ten thousand miles underwater? So why
not take one of Australia's most iconic songs, yes, and
see if they respond. To be fair, they could also.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Be like, can you play something else?

Speaker 3 (15:13):
It's been thirty years? Okay, come on, okay, all right,
we'll try it. I'm able to try it. I think
it'll be ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Let's get the female skipper on tomorrow, okay, and if
she says it's a thing, then maybe we can organize
a whale boat. We can bring a whole pile of people.
I'm getting ahead of myself. I have not asked permission
to do.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
This, but we can go out on where is it off? Malulabah?

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Yeah, oh this is nice. Okay's test next door?

Speaker 3 (15:36):
We should test it.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
Okay, but you're not You're not coming on my boat.
Unless you will. It'll be my wild tail. Yeah, okay,
and you can't come on my boat, yes, unless you're
prepared to be open minded to the fact that my
breach two horses.

Speaker 11 (15:54):
I'll be open minded to your stupid idea.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Wait with Robin and kid.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Quick update on this before we chat to Lucy. Lucy
contacted the show hoping that our PI Dave could find
her biological father. He did, he was in Perth, and
she's had contact with his other kids and her biological uncle.
But that's all we know until now.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Oh my goodness, mate, I have been waiting and waiting
to hear what has happened with you, because such a
journey you've taken us on, and the final chapter was
you going to Perth, and you have done that. What
happened Well.

Speaker 8 (16:35):
Spent the week there now, honestly we spent more time
with my dad than anything. I messaged everyone to let
them know we were there. I got less than red,
which I'm kind of okay about. Now.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Last time we spoke, I'm sure things were sort of
going pretty well with the siblings. You know, your half
brothers and sisters, so what so they just all of
a sudden have cut you off well.

Speaker 8 (16:57):
With everything for them, I'm blocked on everything.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Wow, because you were having contact for a little bit.

Speaker 8 (17:04):
Yeah, even his wife has blocked me on everything. I
was able to message him, but yeah, none of them.
If I look now, I'm still on on read.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
Did you go and knock on the door?

Speaker 6 (17:16):
No?

Speaker 8 (17:17):
Yeah, I just yeah, no, like even when we went
out to places, like I was looking around and I
was on high alert the whole time.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
But just yeah, mate, are you disappointed? You sound disappointed?

Speaker 8 (17:34):
No, because I had the best time with my dad
and to be honest, even after everything, like he's he's
the one there for me.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, I guess that got reaffirmed and he got to
see your kids, his grandkids, so he would have been
thrilled with that.

Speaker 8 (17:49):
Yeah. When we first met up with him, like he
had tears in his eyes and everything, because he hasn't
seen the older two for like five years, so they'd
grown up quite a lot. And to me, that's everything.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
You see, What about your mom because you live with
your mom. Your mom hasn't been great through this whole process.
How did she say anything about you going to Perth
and what you may or may not do? No, do
you know the irony of this for me is the
two people who biologically created you are not behaving overly well,
and the person who is your stepdad is the one

(18:22):
who is stepping up to love and support you.

Speaker 8 (18:25):
To be honest, the way I'm taking it is because,
like mum said, like if she had have known I
wasn't dad, she would have aborted me. I'm pretty sure
that the biological father would have been on the same page.
The only person who's been supporting me since the day
he found out my mom was pregnant has been my dad,
who's technically not biologically my dad.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 8 (18:50):
Honestly, I'm glad I've got one parent with the head
screwed on.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
So when you first sort of approached us with our PI, Dave,
it was all about sort of getting closure finding them.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
So do you feel like you can close that chapter?

Speaker 8 (19:03):
Yes, they know who I am now, they know how
to contact me, they know how to find me.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Yeah, you've done what you can.

Speaker 8 (19:10):
You don't want to my party at the end of
the day, if they don't want me, I've still got
my dad, who, like since we found out, has been amazing.
He's been the most support.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Do you think your dad in Perth will go and
knock on the door.

Speaker 8 (19:25):
I think he's thought about it. But then at the
end of the day when we got to Perth, like,
we spoke about it and he left the decision to me,
and he was supportive of what I wanted to do.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
Are you glad that you got to this point or
if you had your time over again, would you not
do it?

Speaker 8 (19:44):
Honestly, it's difficult because I know my dad and his
sister in law have been so into the family history.
We received a copy of the whole family history going
back to I think early eighteen hundreds, and like my name,
they're on their family history. So I would do it
again for that purpose, but I probably wouldn't go hunt

(20:06):
down the biological father. I just I've got probably one
of the best dads ever biologically not mine, not mine,
but I wouldn't want to replace them for anyone.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
Yeah, Lisa, I kind of don't know what to say,
because I hope that we helped you.

Speaker 8 (20:23):
Yes, definitely, I would probably still be looking for name.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Okay, Yeah, at least you got your dad who sounds
like he's a top bloke, and I'm glad you got
to go and visit him and show him the grandkids.

Speaker 5 (20:36):
Yeah, and I'm so sorry that sometimes people can just
be shitty humans.

Speaker 8 (20:41):
I think because I've grown up with shitty humans, I'm.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Used to it.

Speaker 8 (20:44):
Yeah, okay, to me, that's normal, right, I really would
have been more shocked if they wanted to have something
to do with me.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Yeah, okay, But you're pretty amazing and we're so grateful
to you. Thank you.

Speaker 8 (20:57):
No, not a problem at all.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Listening to the Robin and Kid podcast.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Our next guest, and if you get a chance to
check out the podcast, Robin and keep on de Man.
We have a proper chat with this amazing author, Leanne Moriarty,
and her.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Record is huge.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
The amount of books that she's written that have been
best sellers is huge, but then those that have been
turned into huge shows and series and become massive in
Hollywood is also amazing.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
Yeah, wonderful Australian author. Her new book is called Here
at One Moment and I've just started reading it and
it's excellent. But when we spoke to her, we wanted
to talk to her about the fact that Big Little
Eyes was her first novel that was turned into a
huge Hollywood blockbuster.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Nicole Kidman wanted to meet me, so I thought that
that was all that would come of it, because I'd
had books optioned before, so I can always remember saying
to her, well, I know, not to get too excited
about this because it may or may not happen, and
so many other author has had said to me before,
don't get excited until the day they start shooting. And

(22:05):
she said, no, no, if we option it, get excited
because we won't be optioning it just for the sake
of it, right, So yeah, of course it's our I
mean it when I say that's the most special thing
was about between me and the reader.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
But of course it was also a big thrill.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah we're Nicole Kidmen calls that's a good thing.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
Yeah, and you sit down and have a little mean yeah.
But for all of everyone who's seen Big Little Eyes,
it wasn't just Nicole Kidman who starred in it. What
about the characters though? Were you happy with how Nicole
Kidman was, how Reese Witherspoon was, how Sorry Kravitz was,
like their big name actors taking on your characters that
you literally gave birth to him.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
And I think they all did a wonderful job. But
what of come to realize is that each of them
they take on things from their own lives and their
own so it was each of their interpretations. So I
think they're looking around at people they've observed in exactly
the way I've observed, and they create something. It's quite

(23:09):
separate but also just as wonderful.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
So our full chat with Leanne Moriarty is on the
podcast Robin Kip on demand and includes, of course the
brand new book, which is very local based. I mean
it starts on a flight from Hobart to Sydney.

Speaker 5 (23:23):
And it's about a woman who has the capacity to
walk through a plane and tell every single person she
comes across how they will die and when they will die.
It's a really good listen, So gone and listen to
the Leanne Moriarty because I also took it a task
about the fact that I really didn't enjoy that Big
Little Eyes were set in Australia and yet the film

(23:46):
version the series was American.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
That's weird, isn't it Because you think about some of
our big books, you know, Trent Dalton for example, you
know it's all based out in Darra.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Imagine if they'd move that to Arkansas.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
Yeah, because we change everything so invested or certainly I do,
I get really invested in my novels. Anyway, She's got
a great answer for this, and I kind of got
put in my place.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Yes, And if you missed it early on the show,
Robin's got to be in a bonnet about doing something
with Wales and Darryl braithwait and there's a chance for
you to get involved.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
It's not ridiculous. It is not OK. Wales breach. We'll
see to Darryl Braithwaite's horses.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Yeah, and we're going to talk to a skipper from
a whale boat who is tapping into your lunacy.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
It's not it's right tomorrow on the show.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
You're listening to the Robin and Kid podcast.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Halfway through the podcast.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
So the story that you brought us in on my
radar today, Rob is that Taylor Swift has gone and
bought all these closes, brought him a Turtlenet sweater and cardigan. Funny,
but interestingly, part of that story was that he had
mentioned he'd been obsessed with the cardigan because he was
in Paris when he was in Embaris, and so she
went and found it and brought it for him, so obviously,

(25:04):
and if you saw remember hit the suit that he
wore into the Super Bowls, he looked like sure, he
was just like covered in diamond ties and things.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
So he is he's that guy. He's that guy. He
loves his fashion.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
So I'm just trying to find the name, the official.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Name of this gay.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
So maybe his handbags that she's bought him are exactly
what he wants. He wants carry alls, I mean a
carry all and a handbag.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Hang look good.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Look if anyone could get away with a handbag, it's
someone who weighs one hundred and thirty kilos and is
six foot five and your handbag, well, it's just very
immasculine to have a handbag. Well what men, what men
do you know carry handbags? You would Olivier ever just
strap on a handbag, just whack that over the shoulders
see above.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
I'm just off to the shops. I just want to
just pop my phone and my son he's in here.
Got to have Liby just in case I need.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
It, okay, would now being like really, I'm.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Just like, what do you do that?

Speaker 2 (26:03):
What could you ever imagine your boyfriend with a handbag
and feeling like it was okay, no, And.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
Look, I was at the clubhouse recently because he is
part of the Veterans Motorcycle Club and one of them,
Double Ow, who we've spoken to, is a bit loose.
Sounds like yeah, double O seven, hence his name, had
a bum bag on and at no point was anyone
letting him forget and he was wearing about bag.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, a bum and a bum bag is a far
more masculine option than the hand I have now.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
The picture of said.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Oh yeah, it does it look like that. It's yeah,
that's a handbag.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
It's not a handbag, it's a luggage.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
It's to carry.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
It's a carry on.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
So is it like a carry on luggage? You think
it's a bit smaller? I guess yeah. Okay, So that's
for weekends.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
On the jet.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Looks like a weekend on the jet in Louis Vuitton. Okay,
an interesting one hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Insane that that's four thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
They're the same ones as you see everywhere in Thailand
for like thirty dollars, that same exact same Louis Vauton
three brown.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
Yeah, there are some differences, but yeah, you'd have to be.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Yeah, when get to know, and it is like, this
is the thing with those is that.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
For thirty dollars or for four thousand dollars And it's
probably made better and the stitching will hold together better,
but it's pretty much the exact same function.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
It puts you, Yeah, that you put things in and
you take it on the plane or wherever you're going.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
And he got it in red, so it doesn't even
look like Louisville.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
The red one. The red one does look like a handbag,
bright red.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Yes, and he because that's of course the colors of
the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Oh okay, Chiefs colors.

Speaker 9 (27:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Bag.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
So you imagine a forty player from from twenty years ago,
just knowing that the future of football in America was
a guy getting a handbag same color.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
As his jersey. There you're going, No, we used to
be warrious.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
Look at you. I mean I've got nothing because footballers,
I mean, it's like basketball as holy.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Hell the money.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Just see, Shack just got himself a the Tesla cyber truck.
He's already got one in La. But he lives in
nash It's not Nashville, somewhere else. And so he's got
a second cyber truck there, so when he flies, he's
got and he's got it like decked out.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Where find that so extra stuff?

Speaker 5 (28:22):
And in America where so many people are starving and
they have no public health.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Yeah, just to drop an extra just have it too supercars?

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Yeah, sorry, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
That's disgusting. Please don't say that.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
That is well, you know what I think is you
know what I think the worst thing. People are still.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Waiting, Like there's thousands of people waiting to get their
cyber truck.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
So he gets and he's got two. That seems unfair.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
Because celebrity is the thing that gets you everything you
want in.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
America, yeah, and probably most of the world.

Speaker 7 (28:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Probably we're not exempt. No, but it's it does seem
it's extreme, there isn't it.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
And it's more money like no footballer earns forty million
dollars a season, No or basketballer or I mean we
just don't even have That's not.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Even close, is it. Yeah, except for Kyle he's got radio.
He's got two hundred billion.

Speaker 5 (29:12):
Okay, well Jack's yeah great.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
That's anyway, that's for another podcast.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
When it's all over.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Bye, The Robin and Chit podcasts works.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
Let's talk all things at El McPherson. She did the
big sixty minutes at Expose with Tracy Grimshaw last night.
I wasn't as intrigued or interested to watch this. I
think Channel nine released too much information during the week.
I felt like I saw it all.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Yeah, we spoke about it what on Tuesday? Yeah, pretty
much spoke about everything that was on.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
Yeah. So she talked about having to go to rehab
for an addiction to alcohol. She talked about getting breast cancer.
But I guess if you didn't see it, this was
the one question that people had as to why she
chose not to go down the conventional treatment line.

Speaker 12 (30:12):
You know, it's not logical.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
It was just an innocence.

Speaker 12 (30:15):
I had a feeling that there was a different way
to approach this, and I followed it. Did you resist
it because you understandably didn't want to lose one or
both breasts?

Speaker 5 (30:26):
I mean understandably, ill I.

Speaker 12 (30:28):
Think, you know, if I have a choice of losing
my life or losing my breasts, I think I would
choose to lose the breasts. And that was the alternative.
So it was not a vanity choice. Let me put
it that way.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
I made a.

Speaker 12 (30:42):
Choice to go a more natural route in my treatment.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
I mean fair enough. In the eighties and nineties, she
was known as the Body because her breasts were so extraordinary.
But yeah, so it's of course, in the last twenty
four hours, lots of doctors, conventional oncologists have come out
saying she's risking her life and only time will tell.
But currently with and the other thing i'd say about this,
which we did discuss, but she put a team of

(31:09):
people together, like the best in the world around diet,
around medical. She had a lumpectomy, so she had it
cut out.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
She's like, she sort of just picked Okay, so I'm
going to do surgery here, but I'm not going to
take chemo.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
I'm going to do that instead. So she sort of
just cherry picked her and had the.

Speaker 5 (31:26):
Money to do that, because let's be very clear, it's expensive.
So anyway, I mean, good luck to her. She apparently
now is cancer free and time will tell. Now she
was up against James Packer who was on Channel seven,
and we're going to talk about that after the six
thirty years because man, he revealed something about a zempic
that I think people will really need to hear Taylor

(31:48):
Swift has lavished her boyfriend Travis Kels ahead of the
new NFL season. Kels and the Kansas City Chiefs are
going for a three peat. They kicked off on Thursday night,
picked up at twenty seven to twenty victory over the
Baltimore Ravens, and that's has now of course kicked off
that campaign. But she gave him forty two thousand worth

(32:09):
of stuff. So he saw this turtleneck and jacket and
coat and cardigan in Paris when he was there for
the Olympics and loved it so much, kept raving about them,
so she tracked them down and bought them for him.
She also gave him to Louis Verton, keep all bags.
One was worth four k one was worth four thy
eight hundred.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Where does a man wear his keep all? Is it
like a Is it a handbag?

Speaker 5 (32:31):
I don't know, my hand Probably a man bag? I mean,
if anyone can pull that off at Strauvis Kels.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Keep all guys right.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Sure it's over my shoulder and I keep my keys
and my purse and stuff in there.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
But don't you dare call it.

Speaker 5 (32:46):
You'll never be a man bag guy, will you?

Speaker 12 (32:48):
No?

Speaker 3 (32:49):
I will not I'll wear a bum bag before I
wear a man bag.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
You yeah, okay. And speaking of the NFL Grand Final,
Kendrick Lamar, sit down little. He will be the halftime
entertainment on February ninth when they finally get to Caesar
Super Dome. Of course, he was there in twenty twenty

(33:13):
two with Doctor Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, fifty
cent and Eminem.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
That was the best.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
It was the best.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
That was so good.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
Snoop was the coolest cat on the planet even then.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
And then everyone just kept cut like your Eminem came out,
the fifty minutes kept coming.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
And Mary J. Blige. Well, now Kendrick Lamar is doing
it all by his line and that is going to
be extraordinary.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Wake up with Robin and Kid.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
I noticed something over the weekend, rob about passive aggressiveness,
and for me, I think, I think I'm probably passive aggressive.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
I think, what that's passive aggressive? You love you love,
But I am. I don't.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
I don't go I don't go out and say I'm
you know, I'm mad at this.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
I work around it and I take.

Speaker 5 (34:03):
Little snips to be fair. We all are. Yeah, okay, people,
I don't know anyone that genuinely loves confrontation. I mean,
some people do, They're the anomaly. The rest of us
are desperate not to end up in a file in
a fight like that. That's not a bad thing.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
But what I've noticed is, and I think all my
partners have been passive aggressive, and we've had these things
where fights that go on for days, you know, because
no one ever says what they're feeling. And Naomi, my
current partner, she's aggressive, aggressive, and I love it.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
I didn't love it at first.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
It took me a lot of getting used to, but
I know exactly when she's mad at me because she
tells me.

Speaker 5 (34:41):
Yeah, it's awesome, it's so good, it's so yeah. And
I hope as my life has progressed, the one thing
that I've become better at is vocalizing my emotional experiences,
because if you don't, the only person you can blame
for the mess you find yourself is you.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Yes, because I used to have that, you know I have.
And you'd have days with you with exes and you
see them mad. You could tell that they were off,
but not that off, and you go, maybe it's just
you know, as a stupid man. You go, maybe she's
just got a period and she.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Just needs time. Ever say that, I wouldn't say that.
This is my thinking. Maybe she's just like me and
just needs time.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
Alone, right, wouldn't you ask?

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Because what if? What if? What if it's the other
way around?

Speaker 5 (35:25):
What if it is you? Yes, well then you can
fix it.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Yeah, well I don't want to fix it. Well, no,
so you would prefer because I do.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
I do think that's got to be both. I think
people have to articulate their emotional experiences, but also people
have to articulate the reaction because truly, when faced with honesty,
what are you going to do?

Speaker 6 (35:43):
Well?

Speaker 3 (35:43):
This is what I'm loving, now, is it? Naomi said,
like she said, can you tell that I'm mad at you?

Speaker 5 (35:48):
She just made sure it well done?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
And you tell it I'm mad at you?

Speaker 2 (35:51):
And I said, I did wonder and I've gone, what
you know, what's happening? And then she says, this is
what you this is what you've been doing, and so
what did you do?

Speaker 3 (35:59):
And then well then I still doing it?

Speaker 5 (36:00):
What was it?

Speaker 3 (36:01):
It was?

Speaker 5 (36:01):
I was, please don't tell me you've forgotten.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
No, no, no, I was spending a lot of time
because we had Raphael on the weekend and we've got
a twelve week old baby, and Naomi was doing a
lot of the just sitting with the baby because the
baby doesn't like to lie down, and so you just
get trapped under it and you just sit there and
you don't move.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
Not it, darling. It's your daughter strapped under her okay please,
and nobody moves.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
And I thought I was doing the right thing. We go, hey,
I'll get I'll take Raffi swimming and I'll do this.
And they realize I'm doing all the fun stuff.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
Oh, you're carnival dad.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
And she was just stuck there with this baby and
she was like, you're having fun, you're child.

Speaker 5 (36:37):
Yes, with your child, your daughter, your beautiful Sienna.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
Yeah, okay, that well, she sucks at the moment.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Okay, she does it.

Speaker 7 (36:46):
She does.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
She's going to come good.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
I know she will.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
She's good.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Now. She's so annoyed.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
Okay, but this is okay. Can I tell you that
from my perspective sitting here listening to you, that is
part of your problem. What because you don't see her
as something that you love and cherish and want to
take care of. You see her as the potential of
being a great child.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
But I can see.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
I remember, I remember how much better they get when
they're like one.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Okay, right now, they suck. They don't do anything. They
literally suck.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Okay, so you're I'm getting a thumbs up from Drew,
who's also a new dad.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
He's our boss. Big thumbs up. They suck right now.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
Okay, if your child ever hears this, they won't.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
This is the thing. They can't even they don't hear anything.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
But that kind of makes it worse. That kind of
makes it worse. To Naomi's point is that you are
choosing to be have fun because you want to have
fun with the child that's gonna have fun with you,
and you're leaving her to do the hard yard.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
It's a shitty one.

Speaker 5 (37:45):
Oh my gosh, your daughter, her name is Sienna.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
I swapped, by the way, I did take two hours
for the team and I sat there and they went
out and swim.

Speaker 5 (37:55):
You parented.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
You're listening to the Robin and Kip podcast.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
Now, I haven't seen the whole part of this, but
I definitely will go back to seven Spotlight to watch
it because last night ELM macpherson was competing with James Packer.
Elle was on Sixty Minutes and James was on the
seven Spotlight Show with Liam Bartlett sitting down with him.
And I think the reason why I want to see
it is we didn't hear all the headlines before we
actually got to the meat and do potatoes, you know

(38:27):
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Unlike with Elle, we we basically know the whole story
about it breast cancer recovery. But yeah, the Packer story
interesting just to start with it. It's on Channel seven.
Of course, his dad's famously the head of Channel nine,
built it, made it what it.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Is really and who knows how much they paid for
this interview, Maybe nothing, because James Packer is worth millions.
It was done on his three hundred million dollars super yacht,
Os Tahiti.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Oh wow.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
He talked all about his mental health battles. He took
about the demise of his three marriages to Jodi Meres,
to Erica Baxter, and also he's dating Mariah Carey and
how his self destructive behavior was the thing that he blamed.
He has bad mental health issues. He had a breakdown
at the age of thirty three after the failure of
his you know that one tell. Yes, he did that

(39:12):
as his first attempt to get away from the spotlight
of his father, Kerry Packer, and it all just failed,
so dismally.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Wor when you've got a multimillionaire dad and you go,
I'm going to go right away and I'm going to start.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
An internet company, and it didn't work.

Speaker 5 (39:25):
And then he took over when Kerry died, he took
over Channel nine and that all went to so he
then went into gaming and casinos and so on. I mean,
it's a pretty it's a pretty shocking.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Yeah, I would have seen his dad because his dad
was a crazy gambler and the stories of him, you know,
just flipping a coin for millions of dollars and things
like that. So I guess if he's seen his dad,
and it kind of makes sense. You see your dad
his one vice is pouring money into casinos and gambling
and going this is a way that I'm going to
make my fortune.

Speaker 5 (39:55):
And this is a way that I'm going to make
it up to my dad for losing millions and million,
undreds of millions of dollars. With one tell, I'm going
to try and impress him anyway that none of which
I am going to bring you this audio because I
thought you and everyone who's heard about the weight loss
drug as mpick and there's so many stories of celebrities

(40:15):
losing dramatic amounts of weight, and then they'm admitting them
being on his zempick.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Because of course, the big controversy with the zemp is
it's not a weight loss drug.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
No, it's for diabetes.

Speaker 5 (40:24):
Or something something like some other thing.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
And it just turned out that people lost weight, and
so now they're taking those, they're taking it as a
weight loss ruck.

Speaker 5 (40:31):
Well, haven't listened to what James Packer has to say
about him being on his empiic.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
What about the other medication like o zempic. I'm on
it and I'm putting on weight. So still, so I'm
eating a lot of sugar.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
I'm mating.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
I'm consuming a lot of sugar.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Because you don't drink, do you You're not I'm not drinking.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
You're drinking. I'm not drinking, though, So do you get
how do you get all the sugar.

Speaker 11 (40:55):
Is just truck loads of sugar, truck lines of sugar,
truck yeah, everything, everything, all of that, All of that
don't make me feel bad.

Speaker 2 (41:04):

Still consuming just got loads of sugar with not in
alcohol either, which is fascinating because he's given up drinking
since he blamed drinking for a lot of his mental
health issues. I mean, what I find so intriguing about
that is you're conscious of it, Like you know, fifty
percent of changing a behavior is recognizing it and then

(41:31):
choosing to do something about it. He's taking his impic
and it sounds like it's a bit of an excuse
then for him to just eat more sugar because hey,
