I actually I really couldn't tell you. I just I could.
I just feel like it's sort of summed up. I
guess the season we had and they're the best team
in the camp for a reason. Yes, And I feel
like that game sort of showed. There were parts of
that game where I was like, you know, we're on top.

You know, we're doing our job, we're doing well, and
then you know we drop the ball or penalty against
them then or you know, just completely stuffed up. And
I feelt like that just summed up our season just
because you know, I felt that's just how the whole
season went. We had a great start, really good role
on and then just from there it was a massive

fight after twelve rounds.

So yeah, so you reckon the store.

I think the Storm will be Grand finalists. You reckon yeah, yeah.

Yeah, and who So that's that's the one I think
is the hard one. Like Storm can be beaten, but
I don't feel like they can be, Like just with
how they are playing at the moment, even when they're
gonna even then they're like that gritty fight, they will
for some reason find a way out I always do,

I feel like they've got a really good mix at

you know, come together every week and every week they've
done that and they're like, it's pretty hard to stop.

making that and I look so easy at the moment.

your medical stuff and if you need to get things fixed,
surgery or they'll tell you what to look after.

But you said that that you are really good at
convincing people. So is this the time that you go
into the club and do well?

My performance on Thursday wasn't on the start, That's all

of the games I've played this year, and that's that's
the part you need to understand. If you're still enjoying it,
you know, if they're still enjoyment and you know, unhappiness

be a decision for the whole family sort of thing.

can I read you something? This was on the Mighty
Brisbane Broncos facebook page. It's a lot of fans and things,
so this there was a from walou Rundu who wrote,
who wrote a lovely, huge story, But I'll just read
you a little bit of it starts with tears rolled
down seeing sun Corp for the last time, cheering on
the veteran winger Cory Oats, and then he went into

a lot about your career, and then he said seeing
him leave like this is heartbreaking unless he decides to
hang his boots in retirement. Thanks for the memories, O,
best of luck for you in your future endeavors, lots
of love, and then a horse the horse sign And
this has got thousands of people just going absolutely concur

I haven't seen a lot, but i've Yeah, my wife
sort of showed me a fair few, but it was
it was hard, like you know, I hope it isn't,
but I sort of I kept the emotions pretty well
until right at the end, like when I walked back
to the tunnel, just because I guess you've you've ran.
I've run out that tunnel so many times and and

and also walk back in. And so many big games
and for so many big different well big teams, you know,
for Origin and for Broncs.

So can I ask you, do you think all the
other players will be back? Do you think that everyone
that we saw on the pitch this season will come
back for next season?

Yeah, unless they want to go somewhere else or if
the contracts are finished.

But I'm pretty su sure.

You know the squad's going to be fairly similar to
this year.

Would you make any changes if you.

Were, I wouldn't. I still believe it's a it's a
really good squad. It's just like I said, it was
just those fine little details in in games. And I
really thought that the game on Thursday was just a
prime example of that. Just we didn't execute it or
finish off sets and plays like we did the year before.
And that's what wins your games, your execution and the

way you finish sets and where you finish that, and
you know, just those small things make a big difference.

So I want to read you one more bit before

Corey, seeing him waving and walking into the sheds with
his daughter and son was worrying because we can support
a team, but we have our favorites in the team,
and Oates is everyone's favorite.

But it's just, you know, and that's why it always
is a lot harder, you know. It's it's also the fans,
and you know, they've been great. They're the best fans

fans are not just average part of the they're honestly

They're always supportive.

And you know they're always they show up every week
and and support the team and mate.

I've been sitting on this for a little while because
remember a couple of maybe like six weeks, I went
and did this amazing festival up on the Sunny coast.
There was a food and wine festival, and one of
the things you could do was go on an afternoon
like sunset whale tour, yes, where you got to eat
like local prawns and have local wine and beer and

go out and see the whales breaching.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
And so I went up to Milullavar and I went
out on this whale boat and there was this great
skipper by the name of Johnny who was chatting to
all of us about the whales and giving us a
bit of history. But then he said something extraordinary. This
is it.

Speaker 10 (12:35):
Last year we had an uncanny occurrence happening on our
swim with whales vessels. One of our skippers is a
big fan of mister Darrell Breakway and the song Horses, Yeah, Soul,
we come back to the shop.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
As you say, Johnny was playing horses today and the
whales were breaching. The whales were breaching, And.

Speaker 10 (12:53):
This happened over and over and over again last year.
So this became the theme song for the Humpback Ros
of twenty twenty three. Every time we played Darl Raithway's Horses,
the whales was start to breach.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
So but you're not playing it overly loud like so
they hear.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
They have incredible hearing.

Speaker 10 (13:10):
They would definitely be able to hear it from the
boat even when they're writing down through the whole.

I mean, these are whales that are listening to the
songs of other whales for up to ten thousands way.

Quick update on this before we chat to Lucy. Lucy
contacted the show hoping that our PI Dave could find
her biological father. He did, he was in Perth, and
she's had contact with his other kids and her biological uncle.
But that's all we know until now.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Oh my goodness, mate, I have been waiting and waiting
to hear what has happened with you, because such a
journey you've taken us on, and the final chapter was
you going to Perth, and you have done that. What
happened Well.

Speaker 8 (16:35):
Spent the week there now, honestly we spent more time
with my dad than anything. I messaged everyone to let
them know we were there. I got less than red,
which I'm kind of okay about. Now.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Last time we spoke, I'm sure things were sort of
going pretty well with the siblings. You know, your half
brothers and sisters, so what so they just all of
a sudden have cut you off well.

Speaker 8 (16:57):
With everything for them, I'm blocked on everything.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Wow, because you were having contact for a little bit.

Speaker 8 (17:04):
Yeah, even his wife has blocked me on everything. I
was able to message him, but yeah, none of them.
If I look now, I'm still on on read.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
Did you go and knock on the door?

Speaker 6 (17:16):
No?

Speaker 8 (17:17):
Yeah, I just yeah, no, like even when we went
out to places, like I was looking around and I
was on high alert the whole time.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
But just yeah, mate, are you disappointed? You sound disappointed?

Speaker 8 (17:34):
No, because I had the best time with my dad
and to be honest, even after everything, like he's he's
the one there for me.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, I guess that got reaffirmed and he got to
see your kids, his grandkids, so he would have been
thrilled with that.

Speaker 8 (17:49):
Yeah. When we first met up with him, like he
had tears in his eyes and everything, because he hasn't
seen the older two for like five years, so they'd
grown up quite a lot. And to me, that's everything.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
You see, What about your mom because you live with
your mom. Your mom hasn't been great through this whole process.
How did she say anything about you going to Perth
and what you may or may not do? No, do
you know the irony of this for me is the
two people who biologically created you are not behaving overly well,
and the person who is your stepdad is the one

who is stepping up to love and support you.

Speaker 8 (18:25):
To be honest, the way I'm taking it is because,
like mum said, like if she had have known I
wasn't dad, she would have aborted me. I'm pretty sure
that the biological father would have been on the same page.
The only person who's been supporting me since the day
he found out my mom was pregnant has been my dad,
who's technically not biologically my dad.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 8 (18:50):
Honestly, I'm glad I've got one parent with the head
screwed on.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
So when you first sort of approached us with our PI, Dave,
it was all about sort of getting closure finding them.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
So do you feel like you can close that chapter?

Speaker 8 (19:03):
Yes, they know who I am now, they know how
to contact me, they know how to find me.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Yeah, you've done what you can.

Speaker 8 (19:10):
You don't want to my party at the end of
the day, if they don't want me, I've still got
my dad, who, like since we found out, has been amazing.
He's been the most support.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Do you think your dad in Perth will go and
knock on the door.

Speaker 8 (19:25):
I think he's thought about it. But then at the
end of the day when we got to Perth, like,
we spoke about it and he left the decision to me,
and he was supportive of what I wanted to do.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
Are you glad that you got to this point or
if you had your time over again, would you not
do it?

Speaker 8 (19:44):
Honestly, it's difficult because I know my dad and his
sister in law have been so into the family history.
We received a copy of the whole family history going
back to I think early eighteen hundreds, and like my name,
they're on their family history. So I would do it
again for that purpose, but I probably wouldn't go hunt

down the biological father. I just I've got probably one
of the best dads ever biologically not mine, not mine,
but I wouldn't want to replace them for anyone.

Yeah, Lisa, I kind of don't know what to say,
because I hope that we helped you.

Yes, definitely, I would probably still be looking for name.

Okay, Yeah, at least you got your dad who sounds
like he's a top bloke, and I'm glad you got
to go and visit him and show him the grandkids.

Yeah, and I'm so sorry that sometimes people can just
be shitty humans.

I think because I've grown up with shitty humans, I'm.

have been more shocked if they wanted to have something
to do with me.

at One Moment and I've just started reading it and
it's excellent. But when we spoke to her, we wanted
to talk to her about the fact that Big Little
Eyes was her first novel that was turned into a
huge Hollywood blockbuster.

Nicole Kidman wanted to meet me, so I thought that
that was all that would come of it, because I'd
had books optioned before, so I can always remember saying
to her, well, I know, not to get too excited
about this because it may or may not happen, and
so many other author has had said to me before,
don't get excited until the day they start shooting. And

she said, no, no, if we option it, get excited
because we won't be optioning it just for the sake
of it, right, So yeah, of course it's our I
mean it when I say that's the most special thing
was about between me and the reader.

But of course it was also a big thrill.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah we're Nicole Kidmen calls that's a good thing.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
Yeah, and you sit down and have a little mean yeah.
But for all of everyone who's seen Big Little Eyes,
it wasn't just Nicole Kidman who starred in it. What
about the characters though? Were you happy with how Nicole
Kidman was, how Reese Witherspoon was, how Sorry Kravitz was,
like their big name actors taking on your characters that
you literally gave birth to him.

And I think they all did a wonderful job. But
what of come to realize is that each of them
they take on things from their own lives and their
own so it was each of their interpretations. So I
think they're looking around at people they've observed in exactly
the way I've observed, and they create something. It's quite

separate but also just as wonderful.

It took me a lot of getting used to, but

make my fortune.

it up to my dad for losing millions and million,
undreds of millions of dollars. With one tell, I'm going
