Speaker 1 (00:12):
I heard podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists and listen
live on the Freeheart.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to the Robin and Kid podcast. We're doing
Confessions for cash at the moment, and yesterday we had
a pretty incredible story about someone who thinks they might
have been switched at birth.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
I was born in the Sydney hospital, I won't mention,
and there was a good handful of babies born on
that day. And back in those days, they used to
take you back to your own little room. All the
babies slipped in the room and a nurse would look
after us and bathe us. And during the bath, the
nurse took all the baby names off all the babies
and didn't know which names went on with babies, so

(00:59):
there was multiple people that got given wrong baby.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
So she thinks she might have been one of those
wrong babies. Why tell her why her parents? Why tell
her that there's a chance.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
But because it makes for a great family story that
they knew so much in the moment of her birthday.
The dad went, no, that's.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Not our baby, that's right. It's only because he got
handed to Samoan. Though it wasn't like it was a
super dad was blonde with blue eyes, a big brown bopper. Okay,
but if.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
You want to know about your family secrets, we can
change your name. Just give us a call thirteen one
oh six five. Because after yesterday we discovered that within
our own team, we have people with great family secrets. Now,
any audio you hear that is played on our show
is put together for us by the wonderful Karen, who
comes in and doesn't like being on air, So thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
So what did you.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Find out about your family?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
So at my dad's funeral, it came out that I
have at least two siblings that I never knew existed,
So he had two kids I just had no idea about.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
So you're at the funeral and what you met these
other kids?

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Like, no, so they weren't at the funeral. But my
uncle did a speech about forgiveness and moving on, and
we're just like, that's a very strange speech to do
at a funeral. So he asked why he was doing that,
and he's like, oh, because your dad's previous marriage that
ended because he cheated and had at least two kids
with some woman that I didn't know about. So yeah,

(02:37):
he has two kids that are older than me, never
knew existed.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Okay, so he was married, yes, and had no children
with that one. I had five children with the first wife,
then had an affair, had two secretlies.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Too, I think it's two or three. I'm not quite
sure on the details.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Of that, and then married your mum and had.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Another five kids.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
You have children, well.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Thirteen, yeah, twelve, thirteen, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
That's elw Musk numbers he is. Yeah, he's populating the earth.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
A good job.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, to have you found out about those randoms.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
They're older than me and didn't have a relationship with him,
and then he went on to have more children. I
feel like in their position, like you'd be so bitter
that your dad didn't have a relationship with you and
then still had more kids, like a lot of more kids.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
But the unchool.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Uncle knew because obviously he was my dad's life when
he cheated, and obviously it was a whole big drama
when it first came out. That's why he left, Well,
his first wife left him, so my extended family knew,
but they disowned my dad. So I had no contact
with them until his funeral, and then they were yeah,

(03:54):
did your mom know? I don't know. My mom hasn't
really talked about it, and I've talked to her about it,
being like I'd like to know more about my dad's past,
and she kind of just dodges around it. She's like,
I don't know, you know, like she doesn't like talking
about it. I think it makes her a little bit uncomfortable.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
But because sometimes when you did, you don't like what
you find. Yeah. Possibly, So do you know the first five?
Any of the first five?

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I know the first five.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I grew up quite close with the first five.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
And what about the last two? Do you want to
find him? Oh?

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I think it would be strange, Like I don't know,
I would feel guilty because I had Dad in my
life and they didn't like But that's not yours, that's
not I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
But maybe they'd like to have Karen in their lives.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Maybe I don't even know how to start to find them,
to be honest.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
So, yeah, So did it? Did it kind of change
the vibe in the funeral? Like, did a lot of
people realize that there was a confession being made?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Very No, it was.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
It was definitely like confusion whilst my uncle was making
his speech, But the conversation was then separate with like
my uncle and one of my siblings.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Do you know that no one that like some of
people that though.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I don't know because like we knew that obviously there
was an end to the first marriage, but that we did.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
What about the bombshells in that speech that's I never
lived a life? Most of you is never what? Thank you?

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Thanks Karen? Good story of what have you got? Family secrets?
Thirteen one oh sixty five is our number.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Okay, let's go to a none of the city first. Hey, none, Hello,
how are you going good? Thanks? What your family secret?

Speaker 5 (05:40):
So a couple of years ago, my dad confided in
me a secret that the entire family didn't know, immediate
or extended that when he was probably eighteen nineteen years old,
he actually went to prison.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Wow for how long?

Speaker 5 (05:57):
He only went for about six months. He was done
for fraud. So yeah, So and one of our one
of our close family friends was actually the person he
met in prison. And no one knows them.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
They still don't know, They still don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Wow, why would he tell you that?

Speaker 4 (06:17):
That's so hard to actually carry that burden.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
But no, we've just got that sort of relationship, like
we're so close and he goes, I got to tell
you something, but no one else can know.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
So his parents don't know, his siblings don't know.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
Well, but his parents both passed away when he was young,
and he's only got one one sibling who was who
was in the military for quite some time, so he
never found out.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Yeah, no one knows.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I love that one of his close mates is someone
who met and regard.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
So what are you going to do with that? And
you're going to just sit on it now and keep it?

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Yeah, Like I guess unless he brings it up when
we're having a drink or two and he goes, oh,
I did this, And I was like, oh, yeah, I
knew about that.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Wow, I guess.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
I'm taking it with me until until the time when
he can sort of confirm.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
You're a good person to tell secret.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
Thank you, it's anonymous and Taylor have been Lee. Now
we were talking about you. A thing that happened on
your twelfth birthday? What was it?

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (07:26):
So at my twelfth birthday, it was like my last
little kid birthday. Everyone's there like friends, family, and I'm
sitting at the table We're about to cut the cake,
and my mom hands me a card and In it,
it says I'm sorry to have hid this from you,
but you've got an older sister. And my older sister

(07:48):
was twelve years eleven years older than me at the time.
My dad didn't know. My dad found out because I'd
handed in the card and I was like, what does
this mean, as any young kid would do, and he
has flipped the table at my twelfth birthday, screamed at
my mom, screamed at everyone, took me and left, and

(08:10):
I ended up meeting my older sister that night, who
I thought was my auntie because I'd only ever seen
one photo of her and my mom had said she
was an auntie.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Wow, that is crazy.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Why what was your mother thinking to do that at
your twelfth birthday party without telling her partner your father.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
I think it was like an attention grab and all honesty.
She was very much one of those people like, if
that's not big, I'm not gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
This is not the time.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
So it was a bit of a take like it
kind of broke my world. I didn't see her again
for probably like ten years.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
From that moment on your dad.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
My dad, yeah, that night he met my sister, spoke
to her and took us and we never saw my
mom again.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Both hang on. So the twenty four year old sister,
the much older sister ended up coming with your dad
as well?

Speaker 6 (09:05):
Yeah, why hang on?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
So with your parents together at the time that this
happened or yeah.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
They were actually getting married.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Okay, okay, so they've been together for a number of
years and you were born and they were going to
get married and then he took you and never saw
her again.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
Yeah. So his whole issue was if you had another kid,
why did I have to spend thirty thousand dollars on IVFS?

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Oh wow, Wow, he was upset. That is taking some
turns this story far. Wow, there's a lot.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
To scare And what's your relationship like with her?

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Now?

Speaker 6 (09:46):
My mom and my sister.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Start with your mom.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
Mom, I've spoken to her once and she's done another
one where she's gone, oh, this might be your brother,
and so I stopped talking or about I was just like,
I don't want to find out all these random siblings.
And then my sister and I have spoken twice. Just
live completely different lives and are completely different people.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Man, And you sound really great. You sound normal, You
sound well adjusted, and potentially with your family history.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
You shouldn't.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
No, I think it's because we left.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Quiet, right, yeah right, yeah, yeah. Well, we've got one
hundred and fifty dollars from Flowers for Everyone for you
Taylor for sharing the story. Thank you, oh, thank you.
