and Alana's been running this all morning. Charlie Kirk, thirty
(00:32):
one year old father, husband vocally pro Trump, anti trans
and pro guns, has been shot down by sniper and killed.
And yeah, and we're going to talk with Harley in
just a moment, who was there at the rally in Utah.
Before we get to that, we should give a trigger
(00:54):
warning because we have the audio of the moment it happened. Incredibly.
He was talking about gun violence in the actual moment
that he was shot in years Holly, good morning. Hello,
(01:19):
Hey Holly, how.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
I've been better?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Yeah, so you're twenty years old, Hollie, and today you've
seen someone murdered right in front of you.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, yeah, what happened night. I was going to school.
I have early morning classes. I'm a college student, first year,
and I heard about this Charlie Kirk event. A couple
of us have been talking about it for a few days,
and I wanted to go and attend and see what
it was like. And it was super peaceful. I got
there early. I saved some spots for my friends. It
(01:52):
was in a grassy ample theater. The sky was clear,
it was awesome, and he started out and it was great,
and then it just turned so quickly when someone opened
fire on Charlie, and chaos and tragedy really did strike,
and the whole campus was just under lockdown, and it
was just a horrible, horrible experience, and not.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
To relive the trauma, But what did you actually see?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
I saw Charlie sitting there and someone had asked a
question and before he could even answer it, he was
opening his mouth and someone had shot him in the neck.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
And when you heard it, did you know straightaway it
was a gunshot?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I did. I'd kind of grown up around I've gune hunting,
you know, I knew it was a gunshot. And honestly,
before I even saw like that it had happened to him,
we heard the gunshot, and then everyone started getting up
and freaking out and screaming. I mean, you really didn't
know what had just happened. If it was just him shot,
if there was multiple you didn't even know what. No
one knew what was going on.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Was it multiple shots or was it just the one?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
It was just I think it was just the one.
But there was so much screaming and terror. Honestly, you couldn't.
You couldn't. There were thousands of students that you couldn't
hear anything. You just heard the one, and it was
it was just chaos. Holley, You went really close, weren't you.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
We were close to the front.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, I was in the third row.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Wow. So were you worried for yourself? Did you like
get up and run with your friends? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
I mean we just got up and started running. I'm
I don't even know what was going on. We just
started running and running out to the parking lot, like
we just all the students were just running. The parking
lot there on campus is pretty close to where Charlie
was speaking, so it was pretty accessible, and it just
it was fight or flight like it just you just
ran and everyone just ran out to the parking lot
(03:40):
to their cars. Are like where he was speaking or
whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Is there a lot of security or are they No?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
It's it's pretty open. There's sort of not really like
a loading dock, but like kind of an under sidewalk
area where he was loading all of his equipment and
his tent and where his tent was, and it wasn't
super secure. There's buildings surrounding at all, you know, classrooms
and things, and it's outdoors. It's outside obviously, and there
was this ample theater and there was so many people there.
(04:10):
I wouldn't say it was very secure at all.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
So, Halle, you know he's died.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Right, Yeah, I was made aware that he said he
passed away.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I I'm in shock. I just cannot believe that this
has happened. I know that he has a family, and
that just breaks my heart that this something that started
out so peaceful terms so tragic and now they have
(04:44):
to live with this for the rest of their lives
like that just breaks my heart for his family mostly.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Halle, you have seen something awful and we are so
grateful that you were able to tell us exactly what happened.
But you take care of you mate, and thank you
very much.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Thank you you too. Byebye.
