Speaker 1 (00:12):
I heard podcasts year more kiss podcasts, playlists and listen
live on the Free.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
We've got Cody Simpson joining us.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Where in the world are you.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'm in Sydney a bunch of press stuff today for
the super campaign, so down here for a couple of days.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Do you realize that every time there is a Queensland
Championship for kids, like high school kids, and they read
out the record holder for Butterfly.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
It's you.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
I think one of them got broken last year, which
is crazy that it stood that long. But yeah, every year,
someone like a mutual friend or a family friend will
send me a picture of the program.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Still there, still there.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
And I can tell you because my son was a
Butterfly and there was this thing amongst his school friends
that it's like, we're going to get Cody this.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Yeah, why did you go back?

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Why did you try and get into the paras Olympics.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
It was one of those things that I was so
passionate about young, and it was I had to press
pause on it or stop it when I got signed
and went to pursue music and just had to kind
of forget about it for a while, and it just
kept nagging at me and tugging at me, and it
was one of those things I eventually couldn't ignore and
kind of had to.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Come back to.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
And it was a big risk to take, but definitely
got out of it what I wanted to and it
taught me so much.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, you also got probably Australia's greatest female Olympian out
of it, do you not?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
As a friend?

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know there's some upside.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I just got this audio. This is from your Instagram.
Like this because I can relate to this. It says
a few negronisy and I'm the first to whip out
flying to the moon. This is your on stage in
New York the Woods.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
In other words, kiss me.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
That's pretty with a live jazz band too.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Yeah that sounds unreal.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yeah are you still doing I'm singing? Yeah, yeah, still singing.
I'm back doing a full time Yeah, yeah I've been.
I've been recording all year, setting up a new project.
So back back in the swing, literally in the swing
doing stuff like that sometimes, right, yeah, back right and recording,
so getting close on a project and looking forward to
starting jumping back in full time to it all.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Obviously, the new campaign that you're you're a part of
and starting the Uber and the Australian Red Cross. It's
a well is this your donation area you've said, can
you talk us a little bit about you know, what's
involved with that.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Absolutely, So it's it's this this coming Saturday. Basically, the initiative.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Is that.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
You can order an Uber courier from like ten between
ten and four this Saturday to come for free and
pick up your pods and take them to Red Cross,
which is so cool and like kind of makes it
a lot easier for us order to do that because
I feel like, you know, we're constantly at least I'm
constantly like wanting to fill a bag and do it,
but I just never do it because I don't know
where the bins are. I don't you know, don't have

(03:22):
time to drive to the store or whatever. And so
it's it was like, it's a really nice thing. It
makes it really accessible for us. He's to give to
people who may need it more than they do if
they've got sort of stuff from the past still on
the back of the cupboard.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
So is that saying so they will pick up because
I only wear secondhand clothes, and let me tell you
that Red Cross is actually the Kreme Doula Creme of
second shopping.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Donating some I'm donating some quality stuff this weekend. Actually,
like I'm donating, Like I'm donating like the blazer I
wore when I sing the national anthem at the AFL
Grand Final last year.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
I'm like donating like a.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Bunch of clothes like that I got from shoots and
stuff that I've only want one. It's like quality stuff,
so like and you can find a lot of quality
stuff in there.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Any of us can fill a bag and ring uber
and say this is a donation for Red Cross and
they will take it to the local Red Cross depot
and then sort.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Of it get into the all as the major cities.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah, between ten and four on Saturday, you can you
can call them a courier for free and click the
Red Cross option and they'll come pick it up for free.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
So and I know at my household, they'll be taking
it out of my partner's boot, which is her donations
right around in the boot of her car for about
three or four months. There you go, So this is perfect.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
After this weekend, what are you doing next? Like, where
are we going to see?

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Cody Simpson back on stage.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Hopefully we're starting to play gigs again and get the
music out. There'll be dropping music earlier next year, which
is which is cool.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
So on screen too, I've got a series.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I'm in a series for stand coming up or he
had it coming so I'm I'm acting in that, which
is cool.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
So I'm my Aussie lil screen acting debut.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Also in this hilarious movie coming out for Netflix called
Zombie Plane, where I play a young Vanilla Ice.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Vanilla.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
The movie is like Vanilla Ice Truck, Norris, Sophie, Mark,
Iced Tea, the People and like, It's hilariously silly and
self aware. It's about like a zombie apocalypse that happens
on a plane a flight from our latest Sydneys and
I play young Vanilla Ice in.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
His early life. That's awesome. He's coming out next month.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Cody, you're twenty eight, right, you're twenty eight years old.
You have done the most extraordinary things in your life.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
We're not bringing up Cody's exes, are we. Yeah, this
is a different thing.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Tell us about what you've done.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Some extraordinary things going good anyway, You're incredible, said that, Robin, what.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
So he's done some extraordinary things.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Charmer, that's what he is.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Like, what I wanted to know was what you know
when you look back on your life, what was the
thing you're most proud of?

Speaker 3 (05:57):
It's a really good question. Making in strained swim team
was a big one for me. When you make your team,
you get you get a number. They callt like a
dolphin numbers the strained dolphins of the swim team. And
there's there's only been maybe eight hundred and something ever,
and my mom and I are both two of those people,
which is cool, so we like share that together now
that I made the Common Games team in twenty twenty two,

(06:19):
and that was like just a big monumental thing for
me to have done just because of the work that
went into it. But there's been so many moments like
that in myth. I've been very lucky to have many
of those.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
You know, And who's the coolest? Like these guys are
joking about the people that you've dated, like had did Marley,
cyrus Kylie Jenner? Who's the cooler? Are you still friends
with them?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
By the way? Oh not not really.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I mean, you know, it's like you can't be friends
to this it's complicated.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
But what was the question, who's the.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Coolest person that you've met, someone that's really impressed you.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Wow, that's a great question.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
I met Hugh Jackman a couple of weeks ago and
I was like staring at the ground, couldn't get my
words out. I've honestly been able to meet and and
and almost like befriend multiple of my like idols growing up.
But you know, Michael Phelps and you know different musicians,
and yeah, it's just been been a while a while.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Bride right up.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
There with Obama Rugby League.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Hey, yeah, I was a Broncos fan growing up, by
the way.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Hell yeah's side of the family or my dad's side
of the family from Brisbane.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
My my my granddad.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Is a season ticket holder and they're there every home
game and and so yeah, like that was pretty cool
because he did this year and in in in both
both sports.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
But yeah, unreal support and good queens. Yeah yeah on fire.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Well, Cody's donation era campaign kicks off? Is it this weekend?
It's kicking off?

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Yeh, Saturday.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Saturday is the day you can donate IF's keen to
take advantage of that.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
And we'll be watching out for you. As a young
Vanilla Ice on the Zombi plane, I can't wait for
the thanks.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Thank you, Thank you guys, Thanks your time. Nice see
