Hey Matt a Flagstone, You've got a traffic update. What
is it? I have?

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Yeah, I live at in Flagstone and the main road
out of Flagstone, Taviot Road is closed. The police have
closed it off. I don't know if there's an accident
or something wrong there, but they are pushing all the
traffics through jim Boomba. So you're adding an extra twenty
twenty five minutes to your trip to the city.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Okay, that's a lot and that is a good tip.
So if you're in Flagstone trying to head into the city,
you might as well head toward jim boom But now correct, Okay.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
That no problem.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Now, just keeping the localism through the roof.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Just say yes, because Amanda has just answered the question
on our text line. O four oh nine nine seven
three ninety seven three crash on TV at Road South
McLean Road closed, traffic diverted onto Cusack Lane, gym Boombo
which has added traffic to the Mount Lindsay Highway.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Okay, Alana's got more in the newsroom too. Okay, that's
why it's closed off. Okay, thanks Lana. More than news
coming up in about five minutes before we get to
that though, something that's happening. This came out on my
Facebook page. I saw this about five days ago now,

(01:25):
a post from the bowlow the Blimber BOWLO Blimber Memorial
Bowls Club closed until further notice. And they put a
message out on that saying, you know, thanks everyone for
all their support, but unfortunately where we can't afford to
stay open.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
You love that place, I do.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Did you go there with Raffie all the time? Like
Sunday afternoons you go there. You can have a beer,
There's a bouncy castle, there's a spare green that the
kids run around on like. It's such a great sort
of family area and it's a cheap playground. Beers are
like seven dollars or less. Wow, And which is probably
not surprising that they that they're insolvent, but so they're

(02:03):
they're struggling, but there is a lifeline. They put out
a GoFundMe and they need to raise twenty five grand
just to keep the doors open. And we're talking with
the secretary of the Blimber Bowls Club, who I know
is very passionate about keeping it alive. His name is
Sam O'Brien. He joins us. Now morning Sam, morning, Kit.
How are you mate. I'm good, I'm sad. I'm sad

(02:25):
that this is that this could be the end. So
what what do you what do you put it down to?
Why why do you reckon? We're in this position?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
So I think in the past with previous management, we've
had a poor budget plan which didn't reflect like weekly turnover. Right,
so expenses when it came to staff, spending, food and everything,
we're way too high. And just kept kept putting.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Us in that because it's not run by businessmen, right.
It's the whole thing is it's a community based project,
so the people in charge are not necessarily you know,
business people.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Well, we're not for profit club and with the management board,
we're all volunteers, some of which are business owners. Myself,
I'm not. I'm only nineteen. I work on the wharf.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Oh oh wow, Sam, So you're like passionate about the
Blimber Bolo.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Yeah, well, it's not only for me, but it's kind
of the history that comes through it. The big one
that I've been speaking about in the past week is
the Beckett family. They actually built the greens, and the
grandsons and great grandsons of that family. He'll come down
to the club to this day.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Okay, we need to save it. So what do we
need to do? What do you need?

Speaker 4 (03:44):
So the big thing is well, obviously the money without
the money. So we have an ATO unresolved ATO expense
of about twenty five thousand. So that's the first goal
is to reach fifty of that fifty k target can
start training again.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, because you can't make money until you open the doors.
So you need twenty five grand and what's the GoFundMe
at at this stage?

Speaker 4 (04:12):
So I woke up this morning and we've just gone
over ten ten k, which is all.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
That's good. That's a great start. So we need another
fifteen so we can open up this weekend. Yeah okay, and.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
We're just find it on as it under Blimba bolo.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah. So if you if you search up go fund me,
and you can search all the all the different campaigns
that are up.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
If you look up our local funding campaign slogan which
is save our BLOOMBERBOWLOW. It'll come up and it's got
our logo as a picture.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Okay, we'll put.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
That on our socials. You'll put the go fundme on
our socials at KS ninety seven to three, and so
that can give it a bit of a bigger push.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, And if we can get the doors open on Friday,
we'll talk to you again on Friday. If we can
get open again for the weekend, then let's get down
in there and have a few bees. Everyone. Just keep
the pay on, do you reckon? You could do that
for us, Corey, Yeah, I'm appreciate that. All right, So
good on you, Sam for keeping the dream alive, mate,
and best of luck. We'll keep everyone posted with how

(05:14):
it's going.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Kiss, thank you and save the BOWLO.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
It's six twenty nine. It's Roberty Kip now with Coriot's
