I Hard podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists, and listen
live on the Free Rob and Kids Now with the podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
So it's are you okay day today?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yes? And I think this day is it is huge.
I feel like it should be every day, Are you
okay Day? I think it's grown a lot. It's grown
a lot in the last five years, I believe, And look,
it's it's just it's just it's just it's honestly doing
a simple thing and asking people if they're okay. It's

(00:50):
it's not hard to do, and it's it's it's one
of those things where you don't know until you get asked,
and you don't know unless you ask. And and for me,
it was when I was playing footing. You know, at
the time it was two thousand and I think nineteen
it was, Yeah, it was a thousand and ninety. You know.

(01:13):
Now I look back, my career was going absolutely downhill fast,
and and you just don't know when in that world
like that, in that space, you just don't believe it.
You don't listen to anyone and yeah, you just you
just keep thinking you're fine. You know, you don't. But
now I look back, I was getting cranky, just snapping everyone,

(01:33):
not believing everyone talking back, which I don't like ever doing.
Really yeah, and just just really hating everything, to be honest,
like yeah, not not not enjoying anything, but still thinking
I was fine. And it took my manager to actually
just even sort of say one day he has made
life seriously, like what's going on? Are you actually right?

(01:57):
And I'm like, no, I don't actually think I am.
So yeah, yeah that was.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
And what changed from that moment.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Well, I really need to go and get help, and
yeah I went. I went to a psychiatrist and a psychologist. Sorry,
and I've seen I've seen that guy for the last
five years, six years, and I've seen him five times
a year. Yeah, right, because he just he changed my
life and my managers to ask me now all the

(02:28):
time people do and and ever since I went through that,
I find it so much easier now for me to
open up. But I also asked that question and whether
I think that the person struggling or not. I just
like doing it to mates too, to people I think,
you know at the time, could be could be going

(02:49):
through something. If they're not, then great, I'm happy. I
just want to make sure.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
If the answer is yeah, I'm fine. Then that's it
didn't hurt anything question.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, and that's all this is. It's just you know,
ring up your mate, ring up your your family and
just say are you okay? And you know it can
go a long way, It really can those three words, yeah,
are you okay? I just it's so important, I feel
like inside in our life and yeah, I think it's
it's it's a really important message.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
If the answer is no, what's the next question.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's interesting they actually gave these little cards out today
for are you okay? And alec is the I guess
the acnonym, So are you okay? Listen encourage action, So,
for example, go and talk to someone professional and then
check in.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
And that's if and that's what I also say if
they go, yep, check.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
In again, okay, so keep saying if you don't, you.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Don't believe it, you know, check in again. Yeah, And
if they're being honest and true, they should be fine
saying yeah, fine, more good And.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
I guess If the answer is no, I'm not, then
the follow up question is what can I do? Which
is exactly what your manager could have done.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah, yeah, he's like, and well, yeah, I sort of said,
you know, what do I do now? And he said, well,
I can help you if you want. Yeah, wow, And
I said yeah please.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
It's like a Jerry Maguire style manager that there'd be
managers that will tell you, no, you're doing great. Everyone
else is the problem. But for him to go what's
wrong with you or what's happening.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Well, he was just honest. He goes playing on that ship. Yeah,
well sorry sorry, but yeah, just honesty.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Well you've been really honest and that is going to
help a lot of people. So we should finish off
by saying are you okay?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
I'm great, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Good,
