Speaker 1 (00:12):
I heard podcasts, hear more Kiss podcasts, playlists, and listen
live on the freeheart app.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Great Great Ronie Kiff now with Cory's the podcast Great
Good Day. This game is handled.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
It's Cory's Little Cory's Little League made possible by Construction Pathways.
There's never been a better time for a career in
construction search Construction Pathways. About a month ago, Corey had
a dream. He said, let's let's bring the fun back
for kids in rugby league. Let's play a game that's
just for fun.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Yeah, and we did yes yesterday. It was great. Look again,
I got to think Construction Pathways wouldn't have without them.
Folks form origin grades and made jillo. They made it
such a you know, such a more memorable day for everyone.
So I want to thank them first all but you know,
it all started off in the Kiss tent for us yesterday.
(01:18):
The both teams are ready to go on the field,
so I thought I'd just give a little pump up
and remind them while while we're there. We don't know
while we're here, so fun, enjoy the game. Shirt around.
I want everyone to have just as much fun as
everyone next door. It's an experience I hope all the
kids to enjoy and yeah, let's hope for a successful,
fine day. And everyone went in the day, so let's
go out and enjoy the day. But I couldn't leave Tash,
(01:40):
your little twelve year old pump up guy. He bought
some great stuff during the few weeks before it. But
he has some words of encouragement.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
First, encourage your teammates. I don't give up.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Remember if you make a mistake before that, dash yourself
off and keep on trying to join up until my
final whistle.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Blind much energy and.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
The kids were pump so we started the game. But
Kip was working with Channel seven's Trevor Gilmeister in commentary
from the sidelines and true to Kip Whiteman for him,
within the first five minutes he had completely stuffed it up,
so much so that the Axe had to correct him.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Want gone backwards.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
I don't want to be a.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Hang on. That's isn't that? So I've I've been calling
the pink Tids pink, So we've gone backwards. That's all right, Okay,
we're going to get the teams right, Gilly, we do yes.
(02:45):
Once after that five minutes we worked out which which
was being good purple.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Everyone else had worked it out way before, like weeks before.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah, the parents on the side line certainly had and
they were exactly as you asked, Cory. That was all encouragement,
nothing negative. Corey was marked up for the game. And
(03:12):
you're just seen seeing Corey in full coach mode, run with.
Speaker 6 (03:16):
Him, run with him, support by sass first. So there's
there first, but the worst, but the worst, but it left.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, was doing a cracking job, and yet you and
Trevor from the commentary box were quick to turn on him.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Coach Corey is calling it right? Players ignoring coach Corey.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yes, why would you listen to Corey?
Speaker 3 (03:45):
He was a winger, literally went right and they just
went straight left.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
And listened to commentary boys.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
I'm such a join up. Not imitate Gray Warring.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
But the confusion continued into halftime.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I reckon the team's mate.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
You tell me the one one.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
Two?
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Nice to ref? There's two?
Speaker 6 (04:12):
It is two, he's paying the ref is unfair?
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Restaurant down three?
Speaker 6 (04:15):
How does this work?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Even our junior reporter Patty wasn't sure what was happening.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Corey and the other coach don't know the actual scores.
The other coach thinks it's like four nil and the
other and Corey thinks it's two nils.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Yeah, there's a lot of confusion. But then I had
to go the man that obviously was it was controlling
the game, a referee Jack just to clean up the scores.
When he cleared up the score, what's what's this going on?
Speaker 5 (04:42):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Is it three to one or two one two one?
Speaker 5 (04:45):
We paid that bit of cash before.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
I must even pay, I'll double its four confusion. I
just got to keep saying numbers to keep it more confusion.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
The second half. The second half was very close to it.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
One tried no no and came out at the final
buzzer and yeah, it was great. The second half was
everything we wanted to see. But look at it. Honestly
came down right to the end. Played yes, good defense, Okay,
you're going this.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Will be the final player of the game. You would think, oh,
I really, I think north Side have won this.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Someone tell me your school wonder.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
No one knew who won.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
It didn't matter that it didn't and it was about Yeah,
it all honestly came down the end. But the best
part about the end was the kids were competing and
they were just having fun and and that's all I wanted.
I just wanted to all have fun. And that's what
the best part about the end of the day was
was that you could see the enjoyment and the excitement
on their faces time.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, what do you reckon?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Mom?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
They had the best time, and it was great to
see a bunch of kids who've never played together have
so much fun. So as he had fun, and he's
had all really so much fun. Sure, what was the
best bit.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Probably having to go out there just passing around and.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Having to go great day. I think some of them
thought the best bit was the unlimited purple Gatorade.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
I was smashing the warm.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
And the front page of the Courier mail also says
it all. It says Corey gives back to the game
he loves and we were so grateful to your Corey
because it worked.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
I was so happy at the end of the day.
And my back's feeling it today as you say that.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Because you ran the true you had back spasms on
the way home, still got them back spasms.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
Don't do a half.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I was sweating, But it was all about the kids
having fun and we were lucky enough during the process
of picking the teams and getting everyone involved in this
that our Prime Minister Elbow gave us permission to use
(07:13):
his name and create two best and Fairest medals to
give away at the end of the competition, and Matt Gillett,
who of course was the coach of the north Side,
chose a kid called Harrison.
Speaker 6 (07:26):
W Prime Minister's the Best in Paris award goes to
little Harrison.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
He showed up, he did everything then was talking out
there most in church.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Sample did a great job.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
He was great Harrison.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, but what Jillo didn't know and you guys didn't know,
is that Harrison wasn't just doing the right thing on
the field. So at halftime, I'm just cruising around talking
to parents, checking in on the kids, and I stopped
fellow player, fellow north Side player Georgia and her mum,
who told me this.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
What's it like out there?
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Fun is it? And is everyone passing and doing what
they have to do?
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (08:07):
I had one little boy come up to her and
so she was playing sense, so that was really nice.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
What's his name? Do you know who he was?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Who was not this guy? What's your name?
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Harrison?
Speaker 4 (08:17):
What did you say?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
To Georgia.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Are you're playing great? And it's really you're playing really
good and the spell.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
It of the game? Look at that a nice thing
to say.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Why did you do that?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Harrison?
Speaker 5 (08:27):
She's made great tags, she's made great break she's game
dust meters, she's playing her but really good, good bad.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
That's a terrible.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Thank you mate.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
How does that make you feel good?
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (08:45):
What a guy?
Speaker 3 (08:47):
How does that make you feel Corey? That's awesome? That's perfect.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
No.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Yeah, and there's a lot of those kids on the day. Yes,
they really, they really thought upon themselves for the kids
you know that weren't obviously as confident being in that
little and like that that environment and new team. I
feel like everyone really enjoyed it because of that, Like,
you know, the kids that are a lot more comfortable
and know that they have a bit more Gil that
(09:10):
actually shared it around. You know my pick, which I
will get to probably later in the week. But yeah,
I challenged about halftime and they really they really took
that challenge on board, some of the boys in the
South team and made it just the second half. I
don't know about you guys, but it was such an
entertaining half of foot.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
It was great, It was great to watch, It was
fun to watch, and we did ask Elbow if he'd
be interested in presenting the awards, but he said he's
got to meet up with Trump. Yeah, I mean, priorities.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
The metal, you could have at least given.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
It out shortly after the success. I'll get some of that,
but Trump tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Come on,
