Brisbane's biggest birthday party is coming put together by a
man who just found out what fairy bread is.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Wait what, it's just bread and sprinkles. That's genius and
Buddy a clown.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Haven't you got homework or something else?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
You can do Brisbane's biggest birthday.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Bye, We are throwing Brisbane's biggest ever birthday party. It's
on tomorrow night, Area fifty one at Underwood and we
have a select amount of tickets still to go. You
can win some very soon on the show another round
of Man Versus Child.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
But there was.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Another way to win, which was to register. You could
go to Kiss ninety seven three dot com dot au
and tell us about you or your child and why
they needed to be at the party.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
And that's exactly what Crystal's done. And we've invited Crystal
and her kids into the studio with us.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Hello, Hello, and tell me, so this is Elijah. How
old are you? Elijah ten?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
You're ten?

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Mom's giving him directions behind the scenes.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
You've got the microphone technique down, pat Crystal, Now tell
me why you contacted us.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
What's Elijah's story.

Speaker 5 (01:24):
Elijah has been through a little bit with school recently,
and he bullies are a little bit different to the
way I remember them at school, and he it took
him a little while to get up the courage to
let us know that he was extremely unhappy at school
and just what was going on?

Speaker 4 (01:45):
What was going on?

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Do you want to know?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
No one tell us?

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Yeah. Unfortunately, he was threatened with a knife and then
scissor scissors, and then after everything had settled down the
next few days, a couple of boys pinned him down
on the ground and kicked him. And it just it's

(02:15):
not a nice feeling as a parent to go through that.
And wasn't ever something that I thought we would have
to tackle.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, I thought that was I'd be stuff that, Yes,
schools are trying to stomp out of their schools and
and and you know, try and deal with those a
little bit better.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
But what do you do?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Christie must have felt helpless.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
We did.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
His his father and his stepmother and I have all
really worked quite well together and we've done what we
have thought was best, and that's finally to take him
out of.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Where he was.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
So he legitimately wasn't safe going to school every day?
You did not know whether your child was going to
come home. Okay, no, no, and the school did nothing.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
They did.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
The best that they probably could have.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Was the multiple boys. Like was it like a three four?

Speaker 3 (03:12):
About four? So when you'd wake up in the Morningliji,
you just didn't want to go.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
To school, it'd be scary.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Were they older kids, Elijah, or were they your own age?

Speaker 5 (03:21):
One of them was twelve, and then the others were
about ten, nine and eleven.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Well around around. Yeah, how did you deal with that?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Mate?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
What did you try and do.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Going to school?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Just not go to school?

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Did you did you tell people at the time or
did you just sort of hold it in? Like did
you straight away?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Good on you.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
That's great, that's that's my that's a that's a great
start with like to deal with it like some kids don't.
Some kids don't, They don't tell anyone, and it's worse
and worse and worse, and it builds up. So good
on you for telling you mum straight away. And now
you can get out of there and go somewhere else
where people will enjoy your company and you can have

(04:07):
some fun.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
So the next term was starting the new school. All right,
how are you feeling about it?

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Made?

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Are you a bit nervous or how do you feel?

Speaker 4 (04:15):
It's okay because my brother goes there, but oh that's cool.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I have an your brother at School's a big difference.
It's one of those I went to five different schools
growing up because my parents moved around a lot. I know,
it's scary, mate, when you go in there and you're like,
I don't know anyone here, and you know, it ends
up being really good because you do end up having
to talk to people, even when you're someone who might
be shy, because I was a shy kid like you,
and then all of a sudden you get there and

(04:39):
you go, well, I've got to make friends. You know,
it works out good. So that's cool. You've got a
brand new school to start start the next term and
your brother's there. That's awesome? Is he saying similar? Age?
How old your brother?

Speaker 4 (04:52):
He's two weeks older?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Two weeks older?

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I'm suggesting a step right.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Okay, Elijah, what are you doing tomorrow night?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
You like something to do? You want to come to
the party?

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Yeah, yeah, mate, We're gonna.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Come to area fifty one.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Bring you bring someone along?

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Do you have anyone to bring along?

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Mum?

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Look mate, mate, mate, we can do so much better
than that, because I'm guaranteeing you there are kids listening
right now who would love to come along and hang
out with you.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Get to your buddy.

Speaker 1 (05:31):

we're going to do thirteen one oh six five. If
you would like to come and be Elijah's mate for
the night, we would love to have you at Brisbane's
biggest birthday party.

Speaker 4 (05:42):

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Hey, Crystal, with all things said and done, is this
is this the outcome you wanted?

Speaker 5 (08:00):
I am I'm just glad that other I just want
other parents to make sure they talk to their kids
so that they do know what's going on at school,
because it is very scary out there. As long as
they're saying.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Absolutely well, we will see you tomorrow night, all of
this will be forgotten for one night. There's a new
mate to be made, and fun to be had and
party bags to take home, and we will see you there.
