Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to the Robin and Kid podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Not only was Origin happening last night, but during all
the action around the city, because there was like pretty
much all the hotels were sold out there there was action. Ever,
it was freezing in Brisbane.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
I was so cold and Cackston Street was pumping.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
I mean I lived about three hundred meters from suncop Stadium.
When we were debating whether we go out and get
a drink at Caston Street, we took one look at
the coverage on Channel nine.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
And went, you know, yes, you can stay home.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
And one of the people doing that, in fact coverage
was Gary Youngbrey, who joins us from Channel nine, the
weather man and meteorologist.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yeah, thanks for that, which.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Is especially important because there was a meteor last night
during the weather Gary, did anyone did you get any
sort of heads up that was happening behind you?
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Oh? Look, look, just as I finished the weather, Cameron
said to me, I think there was a media in
the background. I said really, And we never thought anything
more of it. But I got home. I raced home,
put on orange in it, and then my phone started
just going nuts in social media text. It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
So did that hit the ground anywhere, do.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
You know, Well, not that I've heard of as yet,
but I mean I watched back on camera at the
actual media or and you could see the greens, the colors.
There was a little bit of cloud on the horizon,
so as it was breaking up and coming through, there
were all different colors that looked quite amazing. So many
people seen it, so it's good to see that they're
paying no attention to my weather.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
To be fair, pretty much, all you were saying is
it's cold and windy, and.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
We agreed, Yeah, well I wasn't looking that attractive for
my scarf and beanie last night, so I look elsewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
For kids listening though, what is that media? What did
they see behind them?
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Well, at first, well that the kemeraman captured the whole thing,
and obviously it's entering Earth's atmosphere and it started to
burn up. But I think the different colors that you
could see was because it got lower on the horizon
and then we had all that cloud covered as well.
For those who can go back and watch it, you know,
it was sort of like a little phosphorus green that
(02:09):
was burning up on the tail of it. It was
quite spectacular and it was on for a few seconds
as well.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I'm so glad you know what you're talking about, because
we were just guessing.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
As soon as there's something in the sky, people just
think it's related to the weather. Yes, you know, I
get those questions all the time.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Now actually speaking about weather, this is is it unseasonably cold?
It feels extra cold at the moment.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Look, after that June we had was incredible. That was
just the best four weeks on record for June, and
then we've gone to I think you say it was
definitely the colder state. That would have been the coldest
origin because as I was standing there on Cackson Street,
I kept looking at the Windshiel and as the gusts
were coming through, it was dropping down. As lie we
call it. The apparent temperature feels like seven degrees at
times or more. And I mean at that time of denight,
(02:57):
it was like before seven pm, and that doesn't happened
too often.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Well there you go. Well, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Gary. You actually I reckon that that that shot of
you will go viral because it was extraordinary. We've all
watched it this morning. People can find it pretty easily
just googling. But yeah, it's sort of impressive to be
part of history and have no idea.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
That you were.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
It would have been nice if I was dressed a
little better rather than my something that was taking having
a bit of fun with. But anyways, you could have
got your hair done.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
That's right, Sorry I.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Got blown it's got blown off in the last.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Night last cycle.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Thanks for Gary.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
See you guys, mate.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
It's Robin on Brisbane's Chi
