Speaker 1 (00:12):
My Heart podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists, and listen
live on the Freeheart app Robin and Kidd now Vicios
the podcast. It was quite an extraordinary couple of months,
particularly Game three of State of Origin, where Queensland yes
(00:32):
was victorious, but particularly because our captain Cam Munster was
dealing with the sudden death of his father, Stephen Y. Yeah.
Now you know, you know, the Monster family. And this
morning we've heard word from Alana in our newsroom that
he is returning to the Melbourne Storm for a game
this weekend. Yes, so I kind of we haven't really
(00:55):
checked in with you about how the funeral was, how
Cam is.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Look, I've never said this about a funeral, but it
was a really good funeral, Like it really was.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
There's a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Showed up, a lot of the Melbourne owners and coaching
staff and people from you know that that organization, which
was great to see Billy was there and yeah, there's
a lot of people there and I really thought it
was great because it's about two and a half weeks
I think, since he had passed even and that's just
(01:28):
when they spoke about him, you know, his best friend,
A couple other people got up and even Cam.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
There was nothing that stopped them from going.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Through all the memories and you know that like they
weren't crying and they were still really so emotional, like
they were pausing, but that was it. There was nothing
that you know, made it like they had to skip
through and they couldn't finish it. It was great because
they got to just talk about how good he was
as a bloke and.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
What made it like just the time, you reckon just
having more time.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I believe that the time.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
And I spoke to Billy after and Billy said the
same thing, like he wanted to yeah, because obviously his
father passed, and he said it ended up taking a
couple of weeks, and he said, I think it was
the best thing because like we you know, we cried
and we did all that, but then we've got to
send him off the way that we wanted to, and
it was a celebration of his life and we got
to all speak about the great things that everyone's going
(02:23):
to remember him by. And I thought it was just
so good and listening to everything that Cam said and
Steve's best mate and it was it was just him.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
So what he Cam do? Did Cam do? The eulogy.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Uh no, no, no, Cam didn't. I'm pretty sure it
was his best mate that did. But yeah, just and
then people got up and spoke also out of you know,
just they opened the floor obviously like they're doing. A
couple of people got up something that worked with him,
and yeah, it was just I found it really good
because of that, Like you know when Cam spoke and yeah,
(02:55):
like you just that was what that's like I said
to you, he was just a good he was a
great bloke and that's what everyone said that got up
and spoke about him.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Cam strikes me as someone who finds it almost impossible
to be serious.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, so how did he go for you? And I
give him credit.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
He spoke so well and he's gotten so much better
over the years.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
And no, it was really good, Like it really was
really good.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
I mean the fact that guy got out and then
led Queensland. I mean there was a part of me
that went as soon as that happened, and as awful
as it is to say, Queensland then had a reason
like it was above and beyond. It was like magical
and special that every single member of that team was
(03:41):
going to do it for their captain. And do it
for his dad and the fact we won kind of.
I mean, in some ways I reckon New South Wales
would have just gone, oh oh, there we go.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
They honestly played it near the perfect game of footy,
didn't they Queensland? But yeah, but yeah, just at the funeral,
I really I thought it was really good. And you know,
after it just got to spend time, you know, with
him chatting and they were all just so grateful their
men who that turned up, And I said, well, this
just shows the type of man you know, Stephen.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
What was it? You know?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
So, how's he going to go playing for the Storm tonight?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
I think it'd be great. Yeah, I think he's ready
to go.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
And I can't wait to see him, see him play tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
I'm really excited. I'm so glad to him make him sick.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, yes, because you went up there with the flu.
You didn't know at that time, but you were heavily infectious. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
I do believe I think I have made his wife.
I messaged him and I'm like, may just let you
know Sunday hit me bad and I ended up having
this and he thanks, you know what he would have said, Yes, yeah,
my wife a nice Petrook I said, Okay, I'm so sorry.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
I imagine if you took the whole storm down
