Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to the Robin and Kid podcast. I'm looking
for support, just to see if I can't be the
only one. I can't be the only dad of a
baby under six months that I am really struggling to
bond with.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
And we keep you know, I mean, I tease you
about it, but even yesterday, you know, we were.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
I was defending myself and saying how I don't call
her a knit anymore. And yet yep, I'm not doing
that anymore because now it's starting to do things she
started to because Siena is starting to make whoing sounds.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Super cure.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
And it's cute. It is cute that she's worked out
how to make the who sound. But I will say
that I am about five percent is interested in her
whoing as Naomi is, like she I I caught Naomi
went to bed. She put Siena to bed last night,
then got into bed next to me and started watching
videos of Sienna.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
That's adorable, of course, but.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
It's of course, what like it's the same thing you've
been watching all day. Nothing's new, Okay, So why I'm
so boring for me? For her?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I understand that I understand her innately, absolutely like it's
your whole world right now. So you're just trying to
just look at and learn from. What I don't understand
is from the flip side. And you know, for non
birthing parents, it would be weird to be handed this thing.
Here's your child, he's the most important thing moment, and

(01:42):
to look at it and for there not to be
a massive release of hormones because you don't get that.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
No, I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
I did not get the hormone rush like you get.
I got the stress rush. I got that like, oh,
I'm responsible for this. I've got to keep this little
thing alive. That's my job. Now. I got that to
the stres. But I did get the hormone rush. I
didn't get that.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
So if something was to threaten her from the outside,
your immediate response, well, that's I guess that's genetic. Like
that's back to cavemen. You know, you were supposed to
defend and we were supposed to nurture.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yeah, okay, yeah, maybe it's just that. But yeah, it's
just you know, I know, I forget about it like
some like on Friday night because we don't have rap
on Friday night. Wraps My five year old boy. For
those who don't follow the show closely, he's going to
be with his with his mum, and so I said,
we have a rap Friday night. Let's go to the
champagne tasting and at the emporium. So I booked that

(02:34):
Andnomi's like, but we've got a baby.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Did you genuinely forget?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Did you didn't? I'm only for a second, but I
was like, oh that's right. Well, okay, let's get organized babysitting.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
But I you know, okay, So what has to happen?
Is it that she needs to react to you? Yeah,
it's I mean, because we established over many years together
that it is all about you.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah. Well I come home right from work yesterday and
he was like, and I talk to a Naomi's mom
was we're hanging out? So is it hid to Pearl?
And it's a hi to Miami and you know, and
then she's like, are you gonna say a lord of
the baby? Why? What it's like saying a lot of
or pumpkin. It doesn't do any like, it doesn't even
know I'm alive. I kept it doesn't it? Then get
your smell doesn't even normally.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Just it again? And I missed it because I'm so
used to it, which is terrible.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
But when are you not going to call it an
each When she comes, she'll come good once she starts
like looking at me, and when I get a smile
or something.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
So when when Okay, I'm a Jason of Green Bak,
have you is this happened to you?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I have? So I first started off when I had
my my son and my wife was pregnant with my
twin daughters, and my son never really bonded with me
up until when my my mother, I'm sorry, my wife
went into hospital with the twins because it's complications, and

(03:57):
I was aft alone with my son for the first time.
I wasn't you know, one two nights, it was a few,
it was a few weeks, and that that was on off,
so you know, I was taking him to the hospital.
Then I was bringing him home and I'd have to
wing him off the boob in the bottle, and I
do it all myself. And that's sort of the first
six months of his life. Nine months of his life.

(04:18):
He sort of him at a bar on me all
and just going and kept going until it was about
eighteen months. And then eventually he yeah, we have an
incredible bond, but also on the flip side with my twins,
because my twins, one of my twins is that health
problems up until now. She's four now, and she's in

(04:40):
the hospital once a month or a bit more. She's
only now the last six months only sort of starting
to come to dad because she's been in and out
of hospital with my wife. Every time that we go
to hospital and we share the workload, I might stay
with her when my wife leaves. She screams uncontrollably wants

(05:03):
the mother and I can't do anything about it. And
I've just got a holder. Yeah, so keep I know
exactly how it feels. It will you will get there.
It is hard. It is really hard, but you will
get there. There are men out there that, whether they're
brave enough to admit it, that does happen to them,
because it happens to me.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Well it sounds it happens everyone. Yeah, thank you mate.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
So, but the thing I took out of that call
is that you just need to spend a lot more
time with her time.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah, but that's that that thing that Jason mentioned, the
screaming when you're holding and they and they're like get away.
From me, give me back the other one. It's like
it hurts and you're like, okay, but.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Doesn't that make you want to double down and go?

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
But if I just can ride out the first one
and then the second one won't be as long as
like anything, Right, You've got to persevere.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to give up on it.
But sure, yeah, I don't know the mission. I'm not
going to I'm not going to give up on the mission.
Six fives out number not saved that No brick out
of Griffin has an opinion on this.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Have you got kid yourself?

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Rick?

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah, that's three okay, No, give better half and up
a bit. You're just a bloody soul. Children rejection, and
you reject the child. The child's going to turn around
and day.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Why am I dealing with this dumbass? He's just a
self standard, self affliated idiot, Rick, And.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Babies won't remember that stuff that, like, you know, by
the time she's old enough to remember, like by the
time she's one, sure that's going to be you know,
I'll be in there. But right now, she doesn't know anything.
She won't remember anything.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
She remembers a lot of things but that's why they've
bond with their mother. They turn around and they engrass
into the comfort and everything else. Yeah, the baby that's
born two days and that's one hundred meters.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
I don't think so. Jackie is just toughing out like
that's what he's gonna do.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
What a bit of.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Y your responsibility? Mate?

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Eric?

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Did you Eric?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Did you smack your kids? You seems like you might
have no No, okay.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Okay, smack, okay, all right.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Because you smack right now. I just feel like I'm
just gonna spend.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Well, you had the pleasure of making this little thing,
and now you're gotta toughing out for it.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Okay, thank you?

Speaker 6 (07:38):
Rick, And I hear Robin, I hey, Robin guckling in
the background.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
She knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Promise. This is the guy's a plant. This guy names Rick.
It's Robin on Brisbane's Kiss
