Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Robin and Kip Kisses ninety seven, three male buttles

(00:02):
in the studio with us as well.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Wonderful comedian. We love your mel but I'm very curious.
I've been having some issues with my three boys. You know,
they're twenty four to twenty two and nineteen. The nineteen
year old's off scutting around in America, but the other
two have been fighting, and I thought I should intervene
and get them to sit down and chat about everything.
And then I was told categorically that you're a great mummy,

(00:24):
you're a really bad dad. Now you have a little boy.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I do have a little boy called Harry. I kind
of identify. This is a bit weird to say as
his dad. I feel like his dad, mostly because when
it was little, I didn't help with the baby that much.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
You and your wife gave birth.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
She gave birth to him.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I tapped my boss card a few times at a
fertility clinic and he turned up.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Robin. No, I the relate. I'm joking. I love him.
Please don't tell the government and take him off me.
The relationship that I have is like a dad, because
what does that mean to you? I'm looser, I'm more casual.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I'm like, you know, I look on the box and
it says for kids six and up, and I say,
he's gonna have a guy.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
That's what dad role? Yeah two, yeah, Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
We clean the pool together and every afternoon he loves it.
I'll give him a pine.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Like scoop the leaves out. I'm assume there's chlorine in
the pool, like we scooped the leaves out. And he's
with me and my wife sits on the steps on
the outside of the pool and goes he's going to
fall in, and you're watching him, hold him, don't.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Go so far away.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I'm like, if he falls in, he falls in, we'll
see if the swimming lessons work for starters, and I'll
jump in and grab him. But also, he's never fallen in,
but he's had a great time cleaning.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
The pool with me.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Do you find because this is something I actually someone
sent me this clip the other day on Instagram about
the different three in mums and dads, and one of
the things they said is that a little kid wants
to go to their mum for cuddles and they get
and they even went scientific and said they get their
dose of oxytocin from that, and then they go to
their dad. They don't get the same level of oxytocin
from a cuddle. They get the same from wrestling. They

(02:01):
want to fight, and raft does that to me. He comes,
he goes can we fight? And he doesn't want to
cuddle me. When he gets home, he wants to fight me.
That's where he gets his HiT's his joy.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
This makes sense. I read in a book that boys
get serotonin. I think that's like makes them feel good
from movement. Right, And when we go, which is wrestling.
When I put Harry to bed, it takes an hour
and a half to hours because he he wrestles me,
he climbs a low for me, he pushes my face,
he parkes me in the eye. But when my missus
puts him to bed, he just cuddles into her.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Done. He's asleep in fifteen minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
So what you're saying, it's got absolutely nothing to do
with the gender mix. It's got to do with the personality.
Although I will say that when I became a single mum,
my boys were nine, twelve and fourteen when their dad died,
and they as they started to hit puberty and really
kick into that sort of boyhood man thing they craved,

(02:53):
men craved, and it was partly why they got sent
to an old boys school. And the other thing that happened,
which I think is very difficult in a traditional mum
dad family, is that my boys chose their mentors and
then I supported those mentors. So each all but three
of my sons have men in their lives that they
have picked, that have that they go to. Two of

(03:17):
them are a godfather and one's a kind of family friend.
And I had nothing to do with it. I mean,
it was good that I approved of one of you
know them, That helps, yeah, yeah, But they developed their
own masculine relationship as they were going through puberty and beyond.
And that's why I really struggle with these excuse me conversations,
because I'm thinking, do I call it a man do?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I also find boys do better with chatting when there's
a secondary activity. So I know, you took your boys
to the pub, and I'm like, oh, you should have
taken them to play basketball. And it seems because I
used to be a teacher, the male students open up
when their hands are busy, when there's a distraction.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
That's when I'll.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Never have a serious conversation with a boy if you're
looking at him, yes, yep, always in the car.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah. But I'm sure there's going to be an app
for this in a few weeks time. Robin m kids
are fighting. Press fighty app and it'll sort it out.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
That's where that's the oh, the sweet future. Bring it,
Bring it now. I reckon, It's Robin and On Brisbane's
