Speaker 1 (00:01):
Wake Up with Robin and Kip. Kiss is ninety seven three.
It's Robin and Kip joined by a comedian of mel
Or Bustle. Now, mel I want to get your take
on this. This happened about twenty four hours ago. You
guys might have seen it on your own streaming, but
Kyle and Jackie Oh their hour of power. They were

(00:21):
interviewing comedic actor Rog Schneider, who's in Sydney at the
moment doing some I think he's doing like a talk show,
kind of like talk circuit for people who don't know
what Scottie, Juice Bigelow, anything that Adam Sandler has been in.
He's that guy.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Is Adam Sandler's best friend or something. He's in every
Adam Sandler movie for about He's like Kip to Robin.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yes, yeah, successful, whose Kip's naughty out? Anyway, he is
in Sydney and Kylin Jackie asked him about the Chris
Rock Will Smith slap because Rog Schneider knows Chris Rock
really well, and man, no one anticipated did how much
Rochneider would pile on.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Now, by the way, did you ever speak to Chris
Rock after the slab? He's your mate? Yeah, yeah, I
would have been straight on the fund. It was my making,
but I was in a sticky situation because I was actually,
you know, an unelected official of the Union at the time.
Will Smith is a twat.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I liked him.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
He Will Smith has been hiding the fact of who
he really is, and it was exposed that night. He's
really an asshole. He's a deep dark thing. To do
that in front of all those people to a really
great legendary comedian who's literally the best comedian of our generation.
Sure you wouldn't have like this whole wave of comedy
that came after. It wasn't for Chris Rock. He's kicked

(01:39):
open the doors, so for him to do that, But
I wasn't allowed to say anything at that time because
we were part of the committee. We're supposed to punish him.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Just back up a second, hang on it.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Will Smith is like for me when I met him, right,
I always.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Say the nicest, most wonderful, He's are complete utter fraud.
That's how politically correct the academy is that they were
so cowardly because if I would have done that, they
would have been hauled out the prisoner because like they
were so worried about being you know, racist or whatever.
They were like, we can't be you know. The point
is violence is what it is, and whether what the
color of your skin or your you know, your religion,

(02:13):
doesn't matter. If you commit a crime in front of
other people, you get hauled out of there. But didn't
you also sort of think, oh, he's standing up for
his missus.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
You didn't like that.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
You can't hit another dude.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I know someone else is getting a slap robin that
is full on. I get it though. People are a little.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Bit too faced because you've got to stand on throats
sometimes to get to the top of showbiz, and people
turn on a certain charm and turn it off behind
closed doors.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
I have interviewed Will Smith. It was a really really
long time ago. It was part of Men in Black,
and Tommy Lee Jones was also. It was one of
those dual interviews and it was on what would have
been I mean, it wasn't zoomed then, but the equivalent.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
It was on a screen on an overhead projector and thank.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
You, and Tommy would just refuse to answer any questions,
and Will Smith was jumping in and actually saved the interview.
So I was kind of a bit like with Jackie,
like the times that I've had interactions with him. But
I also know that and I've seen this many, many,
many times when I've done celebrity interviews, there is a
moment where you watch people turn on and they do

(03:20):
what they have to do, and as a comedian, you
have to turn on on stage.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I'm not on yet.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Just FYI, do you think Chris Rock is one of
the greatest comedians of all time?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I love him. I love what Chris Rock does. I
agree with what Rob said there. It's would I would?

Speaker 4 (03:40):
I think Rob's opened himself up to some lawsuits because
regardless of what happened, that's still like Will's going to
hear this.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
He's a huge ninety seven three kiss fan.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
I know that for a fact. There's a mask that
people have that people drop and when you and how
what's behind the mask is sometimes not that nice. And
I think the higher you go, Robin, probably the nicer
the people get.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
It's it's nuts true. Actually it's sort of.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
The middle celebs that maybe aren't that great.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
So you've You've had a lot to do with Australian
celebrities over your time because.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
You've wamously so Robin the Cooking Show.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
No, but you have right and you've worked on the
comedic circuit forever and ever and ever. Are you willing
to name names? Tell us good, bad and ugly?

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yes, why not to lose career, but my house in Ipswich,
you can have it.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
I want to.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
We're talking about the big rog Schneider comedic actor, a
huge juice, biggeloy, anything that Adam Sandler has been in.
He's that guy. Anyway, he's piled on about Will Smith
and talking about the slap with Chris Rock.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Will Smith is a twa. Will Smith has been hiding
the fact of who he really is, and it was
exposed that Nate, He's really an asshole, a complete utter fraud.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
And we've already discussed that. You kind of have seen
lots of comedians who have two faces, and I guess
I want you to name names.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Right here we go, Well, give me the worst, the worst.
One of the one of the worst things I saw
was this American parks and rec star. He came to Australia,
he did a live show, stand up show, and then
he got his producer or his manager to go through
the audience and personally invite any attractive young ladies back
to this bloke's hotel room. I'd say to read some

(05:34):
poetry and learn about how economics works, but I'm not
sure what for. And one of the people the manager
invited back was my girlfriend, which, let me be clear, Robin,
I mean partner, yes, yes, dating, not.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
The one you're now married to.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
That not that one.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
I came the other one, and.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
She would have been quite young.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
She would have been about twenty six twenty five, and
her and he invited her and a friend back to
come and party with this bloke.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
So why weren't you there? Or you were there?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Well?

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I was wearing pants and a cardigan, and I were
you were you?

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Were you doing stand up with this particular person or
were you next to your girlfriend when you weren't invited.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I was near my girlfriend when I was not invited.
This person didn't realize.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
That we were together.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
He went up to the two hot chicks of the
group and invited them. And I it's like, you know,
when you go to dream world, someone's got to hold
the bags.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
That's that's my life. Here, girls go have fun.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
I'll hold your backpacks, and did any of them say yes, no,
my friend, my girlfriend and her friend did not go
back to the hotel room to play Monopoly, but I'm
sure other young ladies did. And a bit on the
nose behavior there, Robin. But there's lots of good stories
as well.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Okay, give me a good one. Yes, you can balance
it out.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Here we go. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Matt Lucas from Little Britain. Oh, lovely, lovely.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
One.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
He came on a TV show that I was working on.
He hung out with the riders all day. He didn't
just hide in his dressing room. He was with us
in the in the office. We're showing him YouTube clips.
He's showing stuff he finds funny. Is changingjos about comedy.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
He was amazing. Dan Akroyd also huge Usta.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Oh thank goodness. You want dan Akroyd to be good.
He can't be a ghostbuster and not be good.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
He was a great blog He just because what I
think you know this, Robin, is when you're on your
way up, you know everyone, you meet everyone, and then.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
To get to that high level, you've actually got to.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Be I think a bit of a decent person to
hover around the middle and the bottom.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
That's when you maybe get your yuckos.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
But there are I mean, and you and I've both
worked with lots of Australian comedians. The thing I'll say
is that often comedians have two sides, like there are
the people who are extraordinarily funny and complete losers behind
the scene.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Robin's had some first head experience I have.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I mean, I've worked with lots of comedians in my time,
and some of them are awesome, late Terry Hanson, who
we worked with for years in the years and years,
and a lovely human being. But some of them who
I've also worked with, are not and take great pleasure
in intimidating and being sexist. And have you discovered that?

Speaker 4 (08:11):
I have also picked up on that. I have picked
up on that. But I don't think it's only comedy.
I think you could walk into a bank and there's
yucky people who work in banks that are two faced
as well. I don't think it's just us, but I
think what happens is a little bit of the power
and the ego. And if I'm going to put my
doctor phil hat on now, maybe it's being funny and

(08:34):
being a celebrity. Heels some part inside of them really
and maybe it doesn't heal it enough and they still
they like to.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Throw the power around.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Have you been treated badly by Australian comedians? You've opened
and been with laws of people.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Been with Robert, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Like you've done lots of comedy festivals and stuff.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
There's a bit of a there's a thing that you
put up where I it up a bit of it.
I'm one of the boys shield which has kind of
protected me. It didn't protect me a few times. I
had a male comedian grabbed me by both wrists once
and say you're coming back to my office with me
for a show.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
And I had to flick my way out of that.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
What to like sexually?

Speaker 2 (09:18):
I think to do his tax I'm not sure Rob.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Does he not know.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
You're on?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Oh that doesn't matters up for negotiation. But yeah, there's
But I think in comedy there's there's alcohol that workplaces.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
The pub, there's no hr there, it's it's loose.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
You're performing at people's hens nights. Yeah, things things go on, Robin, Yeah,
well thank you.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Wake up with Robin and Kip
